Unlike my visual art profession (mixed-media using oils/pigment/photography), I feel like working on trees gets my hands, and my creativity i suppose, on to something that will last longer than me (hopefully), and continue to thrive with someone else's hands/creativity. There's something metaphysically palpable, knowing that what i'm working on is almost like working on 'time' itself (again -if my trees survive).

You are right, when you cut the strong lower branch going out strongly to the side I was upset!! I would like to see another video showing how to shape those older straight across unnatural looking cuts so they look like natural breakage. Also how you take this one from the nursery pot to a bonsai pot. I like forward to seeing this tree in about 6 months!

I really appreciate your work, I did not realize that I was familiar with it before knowing this channel, as with my research work, I work with a lot of MKS/Newport devices! I have a question concerning bonsai in a terrarium. I have to say that I quite like terraria, but I did the mistake to start a ficus from a really small growth directly in a terrarium. I realized that the egg-shaped ones are too small to hold one. My question is: do you have such a bonsai in an enclosed environment, and which kind do you recommend to use?
Yes! I am the same Milton that founded Newport and New focus, eventually acquired by MKS. If you insist on a terrarium of a given size, then you have to identify a tree that fits into that size terrarium…You can generalize to ferns/moss and houseplants to fit into the terrarium size glass container.
You went wild with the jins but that’s what you had to do with this tree. I think it looks great and will look even better after filling out next spring.

He didn’t hurt or ruin the tree. This will be a respectable tree when done. This tree has had far more care in the care of people than the extremes of nature. You should keep your response respectful when talking to a master.
@@OutsidethePot he might identify as a master, but he’s not a master. He should respect the life of that tree and what it’s been through. Taking off that much foliage could very well kill it.

Yes I did...cut off some roots to fit into a 10 gallon squad...And I used sandy loam and compost... so should grow fast.
