- I used to have a lot of ink pens. Now I have one small bin of pens, but it was time to declutter a few more.

🖊 Been there and done that several times! Near the end of last year, I pitched around 15 pens and markers that didn't work so now I've got it down to what fits the containers in the kitchen, on my desk, and the desk in the spare room. I'll probably never have to buy any more in my lifetime; at least, that's the hope.

Checked in on my pens early January and found a complete set was dried out since the last check in January 2023.
So I was easy to get rid of a hand full of pens. - One day, we will have a very curated inventory. :) Good job today again, Melinda.
I appreciate that you show a lot of different spaces and go throughs and I always enjoy to listen what you have to say.
That's what I was expecting. Pens that have dried up since I first went through them. I'm putting them out so we will actually use them. 🤗💕

I did have a huge bundle of pens I wanted to make sure they worked. It was on my 'silent to do' list. Nagging on my brain. Finally I sat down to go through them all. I quite enjoy doing that kind of chore when I do decide to sit down and get it done.
Most of the pens were dried up but I liked them so I wanted to get refillers. It ended up a fiasco. Out of maybe 30 pens only 4 worked again. So the rest went into the garbage.
So much in that!!! We often put off those little things that can wait, but find enjoyment when we finally do them. And pens dry up, whether we use them or not, so how many do we really need to keep around so we have pens when we need them, but not so many that we're just storing them until they die? 🤔 It's difficult to know, because some ink pens seem to dry up faster than others and some are pricey, so you don't want to declutter extras of the ones you like.
If almost all of my pens dried up and I had just four, I would consider it a reset and be very intentional when buying new pens.
I ended up with way too many pens because I was trying to find pens I like, but I didn't get rid of the ones that I didn't work out. 🤦 I don't want to do that again. After reading your comment, I've decided to make a note of which pens I like and why, so if I ever need to buy a pen again, I will know which ones I like. Thank you 🤗💕
That's funny I just found a few pens today. But waiting till Sunday to see what my granddaughter and I can do to see if they work. She's my little 🎨 artist 😊 Great job making use of yours. No more bag of pens for you 😊
Now that I'm getting closer to being decluttered, maybe I can get back to some drawing and writing. That's why it's hard to let go of them. I need to focus on decluttering for now, but someday I'll be in maintenance mode and I'll be able to focus on other things. 🤗💕

If you have a lot of pens, maybe just do a few at a time, like how you're doing your drawers and cabinets. 🤗💕
i threw out pens not working a few months ago. but i have a lunch box that i found of colored markers i bought about 6 months ago. (i have a few grownup color books taht i'm not ready to part with yet,) they were good. so i put on free site along with valentine things i didnt need. a school teacher got them for her class, 😊she picked them up last night. i dont mind testing pens. and i find i love ink joy gel pens the best, they dried quickly. and i'm totally in love with wide tip sharpies! i use them to mark out address labels &#. i hate the sound of paper shredders.
Wonderful! I love it when teachers can use the things I'm gifting away. 🤗💕I have a few adult coloring books. I've never colored in them. I just like the pictures. 😂

I am not a fan of having to check the pens and such. I just do it every so often as we work through our surplus. 😂
That's a good way to do it. Do you have your supply down to a manageable amount? I think I still have too many. Baby steps. 😂

Lol all the pens worked so it didn't help you pare it down 😂 I guess I got rid of a lot of pens already. So now I just get rid of one if I notice it's not working.

@@MelindaPlainandSimple I never had that many I don't think. My mom would pick up a free pen everywhere she went 😂 I never really did that. I did have a couple packs of them I had bought and never used so like you said I knew they would dry up so I gave them away. I like colors so I have a few blue or black and the rest are colored. 🌈
