They know it's happening more & more. They really should keep generators ready for backup. Just as easy to pay for gas in them as electricity. It could save a lot of lives.

In the past they built buildings differently. They were built with airflow/breezeways in mind. Today, with the assumption of AC you do good if you can get a breeze.
They didn't live in skyscrapers. They had large rooms, lots of windows, many so large they could walk out of them like doors, transoms that regulated air flow, huge attic fans, ceiling fans too. Remember the big old schools & classrooms with a wall of windows? They weren't acclimated to air conditioning either; they spent lots of time outside.
I was at program yesterday and the power went out briefly then came back on again just long enough for us to have our karaoke night. I came back home and the lights were out.

Our power came back on sometime overnight so it was at least out for 10 hours for us
