    thanks for posting this Dave.
    Great video.
    Do you have a video on how to replace the horn on Model S?
    They seem to be a huge problem.
    My low tone horn suddenly stopped working.

      Ooooh, not yet but if my horn breaks I will

    OMG..What a workload for just getting to this battery..

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right! It's so butried. I guess the newer models have a battery that lasts way longer and is a bit easier to get to. But yeah, lots to take apart and also kind of fun to see inside

    How often should the 12v be replaced? Just bought a 2013 model S and I'm considering getting it replaced just to be sure it's a good battery

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mine was a 2017 and get lasted until this video is released. So yeah if it hasn't been replaced it might be a good preventative baby to do it at your leisure rather than by necessity

    Are these available on the web? Looks like all Amazon options are lithium ion and 300-400+USD

      I ended up buying the battery from Tesla service counter. I think it was around $200 and the ones you find when searching online are like $400 to $500. No need to get a lithium or spend loads. The things that matter are the batt size must not be bigger, the terminals need to be the right type and which side the plus and minus are on. Mine had removable terminals. But after searching and all the over priced options, I just decided to go to Tesla and the had one in stock.

    Hey @daverat! Great video. I’m having a hell of a time trying to source the battery. All the ones I’m finding take a long time to get or aren’t exactly right. (Terminals on opposite sides of the battery) any suggestions?

      I went through the same issues I ended up just going to Tesla and buying the battery from their parts department for like $130 or something

    Hey dave here in france most tesla owners buy a car and then sell it every year to get the new version. We actually dont have much clue about tesla ‘s durability in time. You said you bought this car in 2017, how does the batteries of your car use over time? Do you still see yourself with this car within like 10 or 15 years ?
    Sorry for my bad english, tesla is really interesting but à lot of french are waiting to see how it will get old in the long term

      Batteries are good, I started with 330 miles and now is 300, I have driven 135,000 miles or 215,000 km
      I beat the car up, carry equipment, camping, loads of surfing and sand and such. So messing up a new car every year would be expensive and a waste.
      I love this car!!! I will prob buy a cyber truck and give this to my girlfriend when they come out.
      Also, this car cam with unlimited free supercharger, so it would be a shame to let that go.

      @@DaveRat wow free électricity must be dope ! Here we have a 10x on the price of electricity :/,everytime i record i have a little wizard over my shoulder with a ticking watch and a kw/h consomption in réal time ahah what about the maintenance and software issues ?

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Software is good, updates show up and new cool features happen. Dog mode is awesome, leave the puts in climate control with screen that shows the temp. Brakes last forever, tires wear out faster, no tune ups, no oil change or smog.
      I put in wiper fluid every year or so, changed the wipers once. I hit some debris and took apart the front to fix a sensor and epoxy back a small bracket. A door handle stopped working and it was a broken wire I fixed.
      I brought in in for yearly service a several times early on when it was under warranty but there is not much to do.
      Oh, I did pay like $1000 for an updated MCU computer which made things faster and got me streaming Netflix and movies and such
      But all in all, it's a fraction of the cost of a gas car and I wake up every morning with a full charge. The time I save not going to gas stations is awesome.
      For long trips the charge stops take longer than gas but we just go eat and walk the dogs or watch movies or do some work on my phone.
      I will never own a gas car again!

    The more i look into how the model S is put together and what you have to do to fix even the smallest thing, the more I'm convinced Tesla engineers are sadists.
