The general public of Maldives has same feelings like Pakistan has for Indians... it is just unbelievable... until then, the tallest building of Maldives was Indira Gandhi hospital which was gifted by India.

They want to experience something 'foreign', something different from their normal lives. I am from north east and i visited Goa. Spent a lot of money to enjoy holidays but all i got was rude fellow indians, loud and obnoxious mumbaikers, scammers and begger everywhere, the experience was still genuine India, something i actually wanted to escape, but now im forced to experience it. You're right about the escape part. When I went to northeast I also wanted to escape, but my experience was a mix of racism and xenophobia, solicitation of money for unnecessary things like asking directions, charging over MRP even in the easily accessible places but that are touristy, incessant tobacco spitting and overall severe lack of basic facilities. Respect for women is better than mainland though. Nature is good but that's simply because of lack of development, which automatically keeps nature untouched. And that's because the locals overall don't aspire much, and would rather just earn money by overcharging tourists. Compared to foreign places, there's less surveillance and implementation of law in India, and even less in north east and remote places of mainland India. The local unsaid law still rules in such places. This severely affects travel decisions.

As a Maldivian let me tell you, this started with some uneducated deputy ministers made some sickening comments regarding Prime Minister Modi. This is extremely disappointing. India remains as a close friend of Maldives and should always be that way.
After their comments, people from both nations crossed their lines and made very low level comments, including racist comments and wrong accusations on social media.
I hope the situation will diffuse soon. I love India. I love Indian food. I love Indian way of life. I love the busy streets of India. The reason why so many Indians come to Maldives is also because of same reason. They love it here. My point is, both offer a different experience.

In my personal opinion, littering should be criminalised in India 😡. Every time, I am so triggered by uncleanliness and littering of plastic wrappers, bottles, stains of Gutka and Pan etc. Why is India so unclean? Whenever I talk to anybody about how dirty a place is, majority of people say, it will get cleaned tomorrow 😩. How can we teach such simple civic behaviour to people? Foreigners also make racist comments on us for how unclean our country is! And they are not even wrong. For our country’s 🇮🇳 sake, kindly don’t litter guys and let us ask the government to take action on this somehow.

we all know how much muslim respect it's minorities. And how much islamic Republic like Pakistan protect the non Muslims.
as a Muslim.. you feel bad when a person burn Qur'an but few months ago a hindu temple was demolished in Karachi Pakistan and a building complex is being made there.. hundreds of Christian home were destroyed ... I have seen Muslim in this comment section justify it why do you need temples in Pakistan..
In 2014 the organization, the All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement (PHRM), published a survey report. The survey report found that 95% of the temples present in Pakistan since 1990 were destroyed or damaged. Out of the 428 places of worship, only 20 remained operational while 408 temples were converted either into commercial properties or into residential establishments. Out of the 20 temples, 11 were in Sindh, 4 in Punjab, 3 in Balochistan and 2 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Babri Masjid demolition in India only hastened the pace of temple demolition across Pakistan and Bangladesh. Around 1,000 temples were alone targeted or destroyed in Pakistan and 2014 PHRM survey findings continue to reflect in 2021 as well. From 20 operational temples in 2014, Pakistan now only has 13 temples managed by ETPB.
we all know the love what you give non Muslim specially Christian.. . In 1947 Muslims threatened Christians that Pakistan was made for Muslims only and that if Christians wanted to stay there, they had to live a life of servitude and perform sanitation work.. "Sewer Cleaners Wanted in Pakistan: Only Christians Need Apply." Remember this add by pakistani army in 2020. Guess nothing much change here..
well it's hilarious when we see muslim pointing out isreal about the killing and Palestine or even Rohingaya or kashmir .. While the same won't say a word about the virtual annihilation by killing forced migration of non Muslim community in islamic country.. Where the native population is refused to below 5% in some places below 1% like afghanistan Pakistan Indonesia even all meddle east
Have you ever asked why are the population of 31 islamic majority country have 95% + muslim population.. 39 have 88% +
Why is it that it is impossible for non Muslim to live in these islamic country.. The Persian left for india..
The Afghanistan lost it Buddhist monastery
But how many islamic country condemn the virtual inhalation of sikh from afghanistan who were 6 mn in '71 .. And less than 100 left today.. Or the forced conversion and marriage of hindu and Christian under age girls in Pakistan.. The inhalation of Ahemidia in Pakistan Indonesia and kurdistani mens and thier girls turkey syria Iraq Iran.
UAE and Saudi Qatar treatment of its labour is like trash. As per the islamic laws and Kafala System. Where labour were your property or slave ..
even with your pride of allhamdulillah there are no non Muslim tribe in Somalia or 97% of Pakistan or More than half the countries in the Middle East-North Africa region have populations that are approximately 95% Muslim or greater. These include Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian territories, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Western Sahara and Yemen.
Kurds have had a long history of discrimination perpetrated against them by the Turkish government. Massacres have periodically occurred against the Kurds since the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923.
Do you want me to go to talk about northern cyprus.
The Indonesia.. The 2022 annual report of the Setara Institute on Democracy and Peace cited a total of 333 actions infringing on religious freedom during the year. Incidents of religious intolerance were highest in East Java.
I'm sorry I still have not heard a single word of condemnation from any muslim..
Just look at only islamic State in India.. Where are the natives
The reality is you expect isreal and India and the world to be secularist but you justified a killing because the alleged disrespect of quran in your own Bangladesh. And Pakistan and France
While in India Christian we are among the richest religious demographic only second to sikh.. Earning 2 times the national average and have 2 highest education percentage.. Only second to jains..
Guess I am blessed to be born in India not the other side of the borderline

Those ministers were probably trying to get some political milage with the people there who were conditioned against India. They were targeting that post to be read by Maldivians but probably thought it would also go unnoticed by Indians, but it backfired got the attention of almost all Indians.
It's not just India who has geopolitical reasons to not alienate Malidives, they also need India to counter balance and bargain with China.
Though Chinese naval ships being there is a serious problem for Indian, development of infrastructure in Lakshadweep would also reduce the relevance of Maldives to India for everything else.
Besides, I think we are forgetting something very important- potential for revenue from transshipment. Muizzu himself is looking keenly eyeing potential for revenue from transhipment.
Vizhinjam port, can be a massive competition for it because Maldives positioning means ships will have to travel more distance to access both ports, and it would become a choice between either using Maldivian port or Vizhinjam port and Vizhinjam has more depth.
That would make Maldives have even less leverage bargaining with China.
That's why they are walking a tightrope between India and China and not entirely alienating India.
If they go into more disadvantageous position, then they'd have to settle with whatever China say even risking their own citizen's best interest.
Remember, if even the tiniest scuffle between India or China take place in Maldives, people of Maldivies will be the ones at immediate danger, not those in China

Anyway u missed my point . I said Maldives has a lot more tourists than China & India considering its a small island with small population not even 1/50 of These two countries . & i meant how many indians visit China & how many to maldives ? Cuz they marketed it well . So their whole industry is tourism . @@srilakshmidevanathan8334

Whatever it is, i guess its good, its our first step in telling and feeling ourself too that we are not inferior(and also telling that you just cant write anything about us and we will be quit, like we were in the past) , inferior which indians have felt for a long time this movement is crucial in brushing those feelings away and has given us a sense of unity, also it has given us indians a chance to think about giving importance to the parts of our country and placing them as priority like how other countires do to there unlike us indians who just bad mouth our own parts which have lot of potential, we just bad mouth it, call country a bad place and skip over it, without taking steps and releasing the potential, but now we do recognising the potential and taking steps forward it, even though we have a long way to go, but we should be appreciating this initial step and keep giving it fire and some educational people like this, should make videos so uneducated people or the one who do not understand cleanliness etc can see and be inspired and awared, this movement is the marking of a new india and uniting indians if we look at it, if central government too put's clever and nice efforts we surely can make it!
