I-185 in general is a fighter hanging on thanks to its vertical maneuverability, and M-82 has it crippled beyond 3500-3800m. M-71 on the other hand is more powerful and has no altitude issues, making it much more capable as a b-n-z fighter. When it comes to BRs I'd maybe leave M-82 where it is and place M-71 at 4.7, but not much higher since there are La-7 and Yak-3 (which also deserves 4.7 tbh) If I had to pick its closest opponent, I'd go with Fw 190 A-5 in terms of level speed. I-185 outclimbs the 190, but the latter has better maneuverability thanks to actually useful flaps. It is also much more responsive, especially at low-mid speeds making it more capable if you for some reason find yourself in a defensive position.

Been a long time since I've flown these but I was always told not to go high, medium alt is best and fight vertically not horizontally. These can loop all day, they just don't lose energy.
I was playing Ground RB and I got out my French Narval plane (no bombs), only to suddenly get tailed by an I-185. I had more energy, and so I zoom climbed and then tried to run away, and no joke, the I-185 followed me the whole time, and was gaining on me. The match ended before he caught up completely but within that whole chase sequence, I had a better position and energy. Didn’t matter. If it can overpower (it would have, given another minute or so) a 5.7 plane, then it should be higher.
Well, I don't know how to answer to that. I've killed multiple jet fighters with it, and I can easily fight planes at the same BR. I guess it is the 6 20mms. Also, I was at a pretty high altitude. Nonetheless, I see your points.
Gotta love the triple nose mounted 20mm's, such a good armament at this BR. I'm definitely down to see some B26 gameplay, quite a cool looking plane. Only reason I wouldn't want to see some B25 is because I used to play it so damn much lol, if you do the PBJ with the 75mm that'd also be quite interesting.
The Wyvern probably does need to go up in br, but it needs a better and more realistic flight model. It’s in a weird place because it pisses away all its speed when it turns, which is not true to real life, and because it’s flight model isn’t what it should be it’s in a br it shouldn’t be at. And no, its energy retention in real life isn’t amazing, but it’s unrealistically bad in game.
This plane requires you to keep your speed up or force your opposition to overshoot. It bleeds energy rather quickly in turns but has a decent stall speed and great canons to punish your opponent

If you think this I-185 is good, try the other one at 4.3. The thing outclimbs basically everything that isn't an XP-50. My favorite soviet plane to fly out.

Your best bet is climb at the beginning and BnZ with your 20mms and use your engine to climb after each pass. It's decently fast in a dive so if you can, get back to your team while defensively flying
Wonder what belts you are using. You seem to be getting an awful lot of hits when three Shvaks should be shredding things to pieces. I generally use the tracer belt. Just pure explosive fragmentation. I absolutely one tap with the yak 3p which has three Shvaks as well. Anyway great and fun video. I’ve been playing a lot of yaks and they are all just monstrous. Might give the I 185 a whirl too. I would suggest for you to try the yak 3p with tracer belts as well. A superior airframe to this with three Schvaks at a fun BR is just a guaranteed good time.

For the Shvaks, tracer belt is the best after the recent Schvak buffs. If you thought this plane was OP before it would be godly after using tracer belts.

I mean I consider it a threat at 3.7 but it's one my Ki-44-II Hei will outclimb and out-turn. It is faster, but only by 9 km/h (and only 1 km/h stock). It does have a better armament. 3 Shvaks beats 4 .50 cals, no question there. IDK this doesn't feel like the worst thing to go up against.
It’s honestly just a Russian Fw-199 that can’t dive as well with different guns. If you want to play Russian high alt, fly the Yak-3 VK107 or the I-225. They’re really the only Russian props that perform pretty well at high alt, but even then they’re not the best

Can you do a video on the British and French hunter mark six. They are the same aircraft but one is 9.0 and one is 9.7. The British is the higher tier one.

Then the British 9.7 has better rockets than the premium British hunter. Then you have the French hunter which has AIM-9B but is the exact same as the British 9.7 Hunter. And then you have the poor 9.0 Hunter
PLEEEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY THE KI-44 II !!! It's also a low tier menace. It is basically a J2M2 at 3.7, with a climb rate only below the XP-50 iirc, and it has very decent turn rates so it can dogfight many fighters too.
I don't know if you ever played the VL Pyörremyrsky but it has a better climb rate of the P-47M and a 18 second turn time if I remember, and is at a br of 4.3 (The climb rate is 3642 ft/min
No they don't turn well, The I185 is not OP and i consider them a easy kill even in a 2.7 corsair the only thing that makes me nervous are its guns and if someone try's to head on me, but I avoid Head on attacks unless i am outnumbered then you have to do what ya need to do. Now if you want to fly a OP plane get the XP55 its a fricken monster with 2x50cals in nose and 2x an2 20mm cannon with 200 rounds of ammo for every gun and they are also in the nose. There is no prop plane that retains energy like a XP55 and it is the only prop that can continuously can black out my max aced pilot, Also i think it is the fastest prop in a dive breaking 565 MPH in a dive and it will pull 14Gs in some rare cases "usually sits at about 12g's" but it does lack some strait line speed. I fly it very aggressively and love when my squad mates bring me into 5.7- 6.7 games and it still slays but i am 53 and I have been flying planes on PC pentium 60 since air warrior in the mid 90s and trained for Warbirds with my pentium2 300 with twin vodoo2 8mb GPUs in SLI at 1600x1200 on the old 21 and 22" tube monitors in like the late 90s "cannot remember exactly" Now in ground battles since i do both but prefer Flying since it is easier for me to see enemy dots in the air then tanks on the ground use default ammo and you can easily strafe out tanks since the guns are in the center of the nose and you can aim them very accurately and it pulls out of vertical dives so easily i have no problem putting round trough Panther roof hatches and killing them in a single pass, same with t-34s now the only very common tanks that are difficult to strafe are the KV1s but can easily stop one from advancing from tracking them. Lighter tanks like panzer f2s and the like for example are easy kills. you get tons of trigger time but ground RB is not good for Padding you stats since AAA is deadly and some especially people with asian writing in their names are very suspect but luckily the cheaters i don't think get much of a advantage in Air RB and avoiding guns is pretty easy. If i would have only used it in Air RB my KD would have to be at least 10-1 and i fly it very aggressively and will sacrifice myself to kill a air field hugger. Just to give you a idea of how good it turns yak 3's no problem its close but with its energy retention and combat flaps that work great but i only use them and take off and landing flaps in dire situations since energy retention is more important to me then a little more turning ability but i do use them often. BTW nice video I like your enthusiasm. Cheers Ohh i forgot to add its very hard to get guns on target with a quick rolling enemy plane at high speeds since the XP55s roll rate suffers and its rudders are just too weak to yaw your guns on target at high speeds, but with its energy retention just make another pass you will usually still be faster even if you have to loop over to make another pass also if you dive from 10k feet you can usually zoom climb "not vertically but a steep angle back up to 10k again but you will be down to under 100mph but you can resurvey the situation and decide who is the next target.

@@KauppaKomissaari Wyvern is easily picked off by climbing fighters because they're normally doing CAS or basebombing, which requires them to either bleed speed as they gun down ground targets, or dump their speed into a turn in order to rtb after a base run. Both options lead to them dying very easily to most American fighters, Do335s, etc, who normally have picked up some altitude by the time the Wyvern is doing its thing. If they try and use it as a fighter, theyre boned because they don't have the necessary performance other than top speed, which means they can choose engagements but they certainly cant dictate them.
Your first match is why alot of planes are at a low BR because the majority of players are bad while the minority are great pilots exploiting this to their liking

In the war thunder russian bias argument my opinion i don't feel much pain from tanks from russia. So russian bias isnt in ground much But. I feel it in the sky. Many occasions iv felt the enemy was capable of doing stuff that was insane and just stupid from russian planes. Basically russian planes pull gs and fly too good. Iv even flown russian fighters like the yaks and it was too simple Just turn amd shoot amd you can obtain 1 or 2 kill matches without any skill. Compare that to the struggle with my american props its why i believe in bias. Russian planes need no skill to do ok. But planes from other nations need more required skill to do ok

It was universal I think! Some Yaks are on the list but Russian planes feel a little too easy mode so don't play them too often

@@rendycoyayou're joking right? The Ki43 has 2 20mms and can turn on a penny. As long as your guy doesn't pass out from the G you'll get on the 6 of every plane you fly against if you play your cards right. Its bad against BnZ but what low tier jap plane isn't

Tbh I’ve been more of a yak fan than the I-185, the M-82 version is a good interceptor but the M-71 version is straight ass. Like a more powerful MiG-3

Fly the I-185, *M-71 version.* Better engine; that's where the action is! The M-82 model is really just a different La-5F/FN; nothing special (except for the guns).
I do awful in the i-185 for some reason, I do much better in a 190

La7fn in stupid too btw also the wyvern shold be 5.3 its about as fast as the p51h p51c at 3.7 is even more criminal tbh
La-5FN* Also I feel like the Wyvern should maybe be nerfed a little bit, but 5.3 is a bit much since its *only* advantage is its speed. Shit at high altitude, shit turnrate, shit mer, average acceleration, list of averageness goes on until you get to top speed at sea level.

@@zen-spoon608 in a dive yes but idk if you know this that needs altitude the wyvern doesnt and if you with that logic the yak3u should be 5.0
@@KauppaKomissaari Wyvern is easily picked off by climbing fighters because they're normally doing CAS or basebombing, which requires them to either bleed speed as they gun down ground targets, or dump their speed into a turn in order to rtb after a base run. Both options lead to them dying very easily to most American fighters, Do335s, etc, who normally have picked up some altitude by the time the Wyvern is doing its thing. If they try and use it as a fighter, theyre boned because they don't have the necessary performance other than top speed, which means they can choose engagements but they certainly cant dictate them.

Your first match is why alot of planes are at a low BR because the majority of players are bad while the minority are great pilots exploiting this to their liking

@@WeBeStronk it seems to suffer from only one thing, a non existent elevator which seems to be a common trend with russian aircraft it also becomes more prominent when you start Glocking them

In the war thunder russian bias argument my opinion i don't feel much pain from tanks from russia. So russian bias isnt in ground much

I feel it in the sky. Many occasions iv felt the enemy was capable of doing stuff that was insane and just stupid from russian planes.
Basically russian planes pull gs and fly too good. Iv even flown russian fighters like the yaks and it was too simple
Just turn amd shoot amd you can obtain 1 or 2 kill matches without any skill. Compare that to the struggle with my american props its why i believe in bias.
Russian planes need no skill to do ok. But planes from other nations need more required skill to do ok
