if they ask for money instead of toys than they can use the money to buy whatever toy they want and not have to deal with family members gifting them things they don't actually want [trust me i know from experience]
I wonder why they don't even get to do something crazy for a special episode on Hearth's Warming, like a somewhat similar plot to that power puff girls christmas special. I can already picture the scene of them racing against the bullies to the north pole.
