i made a telescop inn my childhood using glasses lens, paper for tube and some other lens from some broken camera or so for the ocular - we did not have much choice back in ussr so it was not just for fun but also for nessesity
How was anyone supposed to know that if you didn't tell us? I didn't realize this was the answer to the question from this week's video and tried to figure it out myself. I've got the internet and couldn't figure out the answer.
Nice slides! It's been literal decades since I learned any of the basics, but never once did we get to see images like THAT. Only drawings in the science textbooks - which, I'm not knocking those, science illustrators have one of THE coolest jobs and sometimes a very challenging one. But those pretty and simplified pictures just don't convey the organization and complexity the same way. That said, I do still recall even 30-plus years later, the demonstration of "how xylem works" using food coloring and a stalk of celery. The slides are cooler though!
Eventhough I've known that leaves have a vascular system, but it's still so weird to me how closely it parallels the animal vascular system with blood. Makes cutting a leaf seam abit more violent.
I love this host - honestly I'm a big Tasha the Amazon fan (shout out to Floralogic) and I would LOVE to see those two do a plant trek video or something. I feel like their vibes are both just *chefs kiss* Ugh why are plant people always the coolest people
I’m going to start a backwards, rainbow connection, purple-first; red final. “ do you know how I got Philadelphia so well memorized, it’s all the pool ponies I got from my purple back. Now I even like the taste of dandelions sometimes; assuming it’s not the only thing I eat. FM comes in different colors I believe; in the potion machine, I have lost myself. The scrapbook holds membranes. I am sometimes too afraid to confront!” Nigel Goldman, who is head-canon by me as a deep one. he knows his way around the tide pool!
The answer to the extra credit question is…light bulbs in asparagus cans! Tell us about a time you’ve had to DIY something sciencey.
i took a chemistry class where we had to make our own glass pipettes!

This Crash Course series has one of the best host/topic pairings ever!
Wut?
Her enthusiasm could power a small city!!!! Loving this series…
Loving this. I’m a gardener with some gaps in my science knowledge - this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
This young lady has sooo much knowledge it is overwhelming!!!😯👏👏👏 And very well explained......SOOO PASSIONATE!!!
I'm not even in a botany class, I just love to hear this lady talk
I am ecstatic right now. Just learned about curly top disease recently from an older lady I work for. This just made my day!
Do you work in a sugarbeet farm?

I am returning to Crash Course to support Alexis! So happy for you, loving the series :)
Screaming, crying, smiling my face off! ❤❤❤❤
Funny really that most things have a cuticle, you, me, plants, animals, even eggs! Yep yep. Cool video i enjoy these immensely. :)
You are such an enthusiastic teacher. 💗
I’m a beginner for tissue culture. I have all the equipment to do it now. I’m inches away from my first attempt! Thnx for the great content!!

I really like how you thougth, introduced and went through the "Under the Microscope" section. Congrats!
You're awesome 😎👍 I'm looking forward to your next lesson. Thank you
I love your energy and enthusiasm! Makes studying and crammimg so much more fun haha
wow this is incredibly well done! Great host and curriculum!
So educating and entertaining love the charismatic host
How did I make it over 30 years of my life without learning that plants can be affected by viruses? I thought they only had to worry about funguses
great episode; fascinated by the anatomy
When I was in elementary school I bought a microscope that used a mirror to reflect light through my slides. I still have it.
just graduated, thanks for getting me through my classes 👍
Best crash course host ever!
Love the passion, so glad to see this course on here with Alexis.
Loving this! Definitely made my day!
I learned so much in this video. 😊 I curious what I can learn in the following ones. Thank you 😊
I know the narrator from another app she is great!!!
No matter how many plant videos I introduce to my parents, they’ll always kill their orchids.
I feel represented as a fellow environmental educator named Alexes 😢
I like how you guys explain what is in the stuff it Soo good
The cross section is like you took a photograph of the cells in motion and now they're just frozen there for study
This is a pretty conceptual video which reviewing the transcript as you watch could help with.
Thank you
Cant tell me those arent cannabinoid trichomes at 3:07
LMAO I hope you're doing better from the stinging nettle encounter a bit ago

Interesting.
Just gotta say, stomate only get creepy when you start calling them mouths.
As a vegan, the fact that plants seem alive makes me uncomfortable that I’m eating them.
I heard photosynthesis started as 2 cells becoming one, like mitochondria. Is this true?
Grade 12 biology made photosynthesis boring to learn. I look forward to hearing about ATP in more interesting ways!
we miss u john sir
I want her to teach me everything
