Just had my VRE orientation my counselor is super nice she approved me today super excited. She worked with me instead of against me and she was very understanding as far as my disability.

I pick 3 careers that would benefit my disability you search on the job sites that they give you ...out of the 3 careers you pick the one that suits you best per your disability. Then you search 5 jobs for the career of choice then search the colleges and universities then you do your statement proposal. I was told to do questions 1,2,5,6 I didn’t do 3,4 . Then send it all to counselor.

Remember this, everything you say can and will be used against you TO Deny you training,. choose your words wisely. Say as little as possible, they will let you rant if you choose to rant. Do your best to research what they are looking for.

I received the notification at 5 o'clock on Thursday night that I was required to have ALL of my paperwork and supporting documents in by Monday - essentially one business day. On top of that, I had surgery on Friday. I don't want to come out guns a blazing, but crap - how do they expect anyone to be able to provide information in less than a day. The email I got said, "all documents MUST be in by Monday".I guess in some respect, if I don't get what I need I will always be able to work through my US Senator and show that the game was rigged from the onset.

I finished my degree (B.S. Computer Engineering) two years ago with VA Voc Rehab. Since then I have been struggling to find a job or been fired from multiple jobs. Thought the VA Voc Rehab mission was to find a veteran gainful employment which he/she maintains. I since then received 70% PTSD. My question can I reapply for VA Voc Rehab again to go back to school to get a masters degree?
YES! I am going through the same thing, there is a regulation that states that "if your condition changes, you may ask for more training". not those same words but something like it. I got my MBA, since received the same with TDIU, I asked for more training, they tried to reroute me to job services only, I cited the reg, called the VA Whitehouse hotline, wrote my congressman and state Vets org, not to mention asked to speak to supervisors 4 levels up, and now I start school January.

This is covered in (38 U.S.C. § 3103(c)(1)-(3).) . If she wont accept your training plan, then you have a few options. You can ask to speak to a supervisor, call the VA Whitehouse hotline, (855)-948-2311, or talk to your State's VA Vets department for minority and underrepresented Veterans. Then ask her supervisor to give you another counselor because your current one is emotionally and unprofessionally invested in your case.

My Voc Rehab has been a joke so far. Can't get a pilot license unless I have a "private pilot license" to start. No ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) for me. Will pay for a master degree but not pilot training, go figure. Pilot training costs $58,995 when starting with a private pilot certificate or $75,995 from zero experience. Both costs include the flight training necessary to become a commercial pilot with flight instructor certificates.
Ed Bard I thought you could as long as it's a part of a degree program under chapter 31. Look at prior court rulings. The private pilot was for a non degree program. Read it and double check.
Always remember when dealing with any "CORPORATION" use the US Constitution to help with your disagreements, reconsiderations or appeals against the VA counselors' decision.

Such a complete waste of time. This is full of opinionated rhetoric presented as mandatory training. As a retired Human Resources NCO, this program needs a complete overhaul. No two VR& E's are the same, not to mention the REPS and that is a problem. ALL the paperwork that they have you complete which is 90% of the time, at their fingertips is ridiculously daunting, leaving the Veteran even more overwhelmed.
I know guys who are working security going through VocRehab. Working a job doesn't disqualify you. Half of the people might be working, and the other half can't keep a job because of their disability. You are trying to get to a better job that works for you in spite of your disabilities.
Just like seeing if anyone here can help a 100% ptsd disabled veteran convince his counselor to approve social work. I'm entitled but he wont approved social work as a plan. Thx
@@tinahamilton9986 because my disability level is so high for a mental health issue. He believes it would be too stressful or risky to put me in the field. I get the logic. We settled on Non-Profit Management. I'm actually thankful because this will be a better fit.

This job isn't suitable for me as it messes with my migraines that I am 30% disabled for. This also isn't what I went to school to do. I want to go back to school for my masters. VocRehab has nothing to do with your 911 GI Bill. Your 911 GI Bill was transferred to your son. He is good to go, and that is his. VocRehab doesn't care if you have Montgomery and the 911 GI Bill waiting in the wings. Using VocRehab allows you to save those pots of funding by using a different pot.
No they wont say that. Transfer one month to your son, you can always transfer more later but when you do, you’ll need to do four more years unless you have a Purple Heart

There is no help for anyone unless they are a vet. I know they struggle too.. It’s sad I went to court with VR and couldn’t get a lawyer to represent me for nothing. The state had the district attorney. My VR counselor lied about me. I was prevented from defending myself. The DA objected to all my evidence: My dad was in 27 years, lost my brother in law as a F-15 pilot. Husband did a short tour in Vietnam was wounded and sent home. Father-in-law WWII and Korea x 2. He felt undeserving of vet benefits and the world thinks J’m undeserving and can rot.

The program I’m in is a bachelors program. The program I’d like to switch to is an associates program. The associates degree would further my nursing degree (LPN to RN) and I could return to work sooner. Is this change doable with the va?

I am currently applying for VR&E from overseas in Japan, and my case is being routed through a case manager outsourced to Philippines. I have done my initial paperwork and waiting for I believe a phone appointment for my initial screening / to go over my paperwork. I'm not sure whether I need to fly to the Philippines eventually or they can do things via web / phone. To my question, I live in Japan and to be more successful in work here I am needing Japanese fluency. Language schools here are obviously not covered by VA directly, it's a JP run business...My question is that can VR/E pay for language training and deal with business in foreign countries or do I need to present a VA accredited / U.S. side business to qualify ? Thanks for any help or guidance.

But then our counselors are in the Philippines and they straight up suck. The PI office is not supportive, they belittle us, and try to pawn off counseling by means of "go watch TH-cam to relax" kind of self help. In any case, reach out to Honolulu office to start the ball rolling, and go from there. Then make sure they don't drop the ball.
