Hiking Troulos to Koukounaries via Mandraki on the island of Skiathos

- I decided to get up early one morning in August and walk to the Koukounaries area from Troulos. Rather than take the main road I decided to walk through the hills and visit some of the beaches on the north coast. It was a stunning walk with beautiful scenery finishing off with a peaceful trek through the pine forest. This video shows you highlights of this trip and I show you the exact route I took at the end of the video.

Thank you! Great video of a favourite area. 👏👏👏 for walking up all those hills in the heat … I usually just stick to the forest walks. A tip, if that’s ok? If you had gone straight across and into the forest when you came off Mandraki Xerxes it would have brought you out at the back of the Agustera and saved a little time. The track was marked on your map.
Many thanks for your comment. It is such a lovely area. We are not going back until next year (we normally go every year) but I intend on trying out new walks next time we are over so any recommendations would be welcome. You seem to know the island well. Thanks for the tip, I’m sure that will come in handy
One amazing but lengthy hike is from opposite bus stop 16 (Ag Paraskevi), along the track past hotels and the horse riding centre and follow the way marks through the forest to Ligares beach on the north coast. Ligares taverna is amazing and your wife could drive there to meet you- you need a 4x4 though. Also, there’s a comprehensive book of walks by a gentleman called Ortwin Widmann, who has lived in Skiathos for many years. You can buy it online or on the island. Enjoy your next visit!
