Only a Cashiers Check would be considered “cash equivalent”. Neither a personal check nor a company check is considered “cash” because they depend on whether funds are available. We’re not sure what type of check Rick used but I assume it was a company check.

You can’t just throw items onto eBay and hope for the best to get the true value of super rare and expensive items. That’s a massive risk.
Auction? You’re going to cop 20% minimum in auction fees from your top dollar. This is why if you have a known retail store specialised in these kinds of items you can capitalise on their full worth.
