If Jimi saw this he would probably go: "So that's what I've been missing out on guitar... Now I know it's possible. Let's get to work." After he recovered from the shock, that is. Stanley has always been way underappreciated except by people who are really, really into guitar. I, too, am seriously surprised to see Stanley play like this. Pentatonics all the way. Musically speaking, especially theory-wise, I've never been at the level to understand what he's usually playing, but this I dig. Not that I can play like that, I just dig it. Go Stanley.
@@KokoTheGorilla69 You should google who Stanley Jordan is. Your comment is a real facepalm moment... and yes, some of the very best musicians in the world play small clubs and aren't rich. Mind you, a lot of the audience is pro.
Stanley Jordan’s Magic Touch debut is one of the MOST beautiful, innovative, guitar albums I’ve ever heard, and I’ve been a HUGE Allan Holdsworth fan since about 1980. I’m not sure why , but Stanley has struggled, gotten lost since his debut album. His playing on Magic Touch is unlike anyone I’ve ever heard, brilliant, musical, innovative, spontaneous, improvisational. I hope he eventually recaptures the focus, direction, brilliance he displayed on Magic Touch, because it would be criminal not to fully realize that very innovative, musical moment. As a fellow guitarist, most players are derivative. Stanley had something singular, pianistic, deeply harmonic, improvisational, profoundly different and musical. Hendrix was CERTAINLY an important guitar moment in time, but Stanley’s Magic Touch was the full evolution of Hendrix’s contributions. I’m appreciative of Stanley’s incorporating a more traditional approach into his music, but what he had at his debut was something singular, innovative, important. Sometimes you just have to stick to your guns.
Easily in the top 10 of all the greatest guitar players! Proof the universe is not fair as he is hardly mentioned. I remember seeing him in 1986 playing an old Beatles song. One of the greatest guitar performances I ever witnessed. Its a crime if he is not financially set for life.
At this age? Stanley Jordan is legend
Agreed, heard him do somewhere over the rainbow in honokaa and he opened up a new portal that night…
😂
Incredible talent! Have seen him live twice. Once playing his own music and once the music of Jimi. He is incredible!
Wow!! Sublime performance
Mr Jordan is Truly One of The Best to Ever Pick Up a Guitar... Absolutely Amazing Being 💯💯
This guy is the greatest,no one even comes near.Should be more famous than the current crop of guitarists, dead or alive.
His more is more way of playing can turn into a jumbled mess sometimes, he's still awesome. You should broaden your catalog of players! 👍
U must be dreaming so many guitar players can put him into shame! He is good but I have see way better!
Highly underrated. And it's not common for someone to master jazz AND rocj
Lmao the guy hasn't written a memorable song in his entire life and is reduced to dressing up like Jimi in 2023 to try and make a few bucks 😂

Criminaly underrated 🎉🎉🎉🎉
never ever heard of this guy !! wow !!! pretty wild performance !!!
Never heard?
He's active more than 30 years....but more in Jazz than Blues.
I was wondering if Stanley Jordan would ever go in a more rock n roll direction. This is awesome. Should have done this years ago
Großartig! ❤
Incredible drumming! Playing rolls on the snare drum with one hand! He is on a par with Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, Bill Bruford, and Ginger Baker.
Ya, that's why he's playing a bar show with a dude dressed like Jimi Hendrix 😂

To be in the top 10 you should have the ability to write a song, which he doesn't
He was two handed tapping before Eddie Van Halen
You have that wrong. Eddie was around doing that 77/78. Love Stanley Jordan seen him varios times includingxa show with Stanley Clark 🤘🏽🤘🏽
And tapping way beyond the complexity of anything Van Halen did….
This sounds nothing like "Voodoo Chile."
Sounds good!
However,. I don't recall
Jimi Hendrix tapping.
Poor bass player never got a look in.
Has anyone checked if this is AI?
Jimi/Eddie
a few years ago the guy was dressed up like a chick and now he is trying to dress like Hendrix...lol..wtf...
Play like him and you can do whatever you want
What is this ridiculous disguise ?
?De verdad que esto suena a jimmy ¿pues yo creo este señor lo seguido muy poco.
Why the camera man is not showing the whole band
