  • Should we hit or swing? Both work, but here is a bit on why I think a hitter's release is the better way for most....

    Great video. Thank you for all you do for the great game of golf. My HAIG Ultras IN ABS Spec and heavy tape are a joy to hit.

    Great video series here. I think stressing the shaft almost forces one’s body to accommodate that style of release.

    You are the first to mention this and l had tried the swinger's release and l had to admit that's not for me. l have a strong upper body and when l do a hitter's release meaning my upper body does the hitting and with my right (trail) shoulder feels like the anchor and the upper/lower arms anchor off of it with the body turning it's a crazy powerful release. thank you

    What about players with strong grips and hitter's swing? Players with more closed faces.... the clubface wants to turn over after contact more as forearms have to rotate at some point or left elbow will have to flare up in follow thru vs neutral grips where easy to hold face more towards target. Thanks and great vid!

    • @lagpressure
      @lagpressure  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Plenty of hitters have had strong grips. You are correct that the clubfaces are not as open as they could be.. therefore limiting the potential for torso rotation... as it could be.

    I like what you present for the hitter, I think my only question would be is it feasible long term once we get into that 50 years and over range, is it realistic to maintain the strength and flexibility? Thx

      I'm 60 and have no issues hitting. I met one of the Cirque De Solei performers who was doing one armed handstands at 73 onstage. I like keeping possibilities open.

    I play passive arms and hands but keep accelerating well past the ball. Personally. I think hitting as a concept is wrong in that there is a focus on impact rather than through the ball focus

      I completely and 100% disagree. The golf swing can be a complete form without a ball. The ball being incidentally "in the way" of the moving club is correct. One does not need a ball to properly move the golf club around their body. Holding shaft flex to or even beyond the low point puts more feel into the hands through tangential pressures and stabilizes the clubface in the event it were to come in contact with off centered hits. Low point control is also critical, and that is controlled much better if the club path is being created by resistance through opposing forces. Ball control is created by clubhead and clubface control. @@vanbalzup6481

    Would it be safe to say if the club reaches the Ball first that's a swingers swing but if the hands pass the ball first that's a hitter? I swing for fades and hit for draws

    • @lagpressure
      @lagpressure  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really. The pressures in the shaft and in the hands are totally different between hitters and swingers. I hit for fades and draws.. no reason to make things more complicated.

    Whats a " "SWITTER" ?
    Can you term this definition ?

  • @jacobr4558
    @jacobr4558 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    All these swing theories! So let's say for example wouldn't hitters release be more right side dominant? And a swingers release be more left side dominant? Wouldn't it depend on the type of Club you're using? Let's say for example if it's counterbalanced or if it's really swing weight heavy and loaded? Like I feel like with golf there's so many variables and people try to put things in a box but there is no box.

    • @lagpressure
      @lagpressure  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are holding shaft flex into the strike.. you are hitting. Can't do that if you are swinging. Two boxes.. hitting and swinging. You are either doing one or the other. Two different umbrellas each have many variations.. but it's one or the other.

    @john Erickson … do you hit it further with a swinger release or hitter?

    • @lagpressure
      @lagpressure  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The goal in golf is not to hit it further, but hit it the same distance consistently and control the golf ball, both direction and distance control. This is best achieved using an accelerating clubhead through the strike... because it puts feel into your right hand so you can properly monitor what is happening.

      I'm referring to the flexation in the shaft releasing. Swinger's lose it early by protocol.

      @@lagpressure protocol is not natural..by numbers is not always the best for all players.
      I am in my 80th year have 5.4 hc..old timers profit from natural swing and not interfering in how the club is designed and not contradicting that.
      As you know the toe of the clubhead is made to ovetake the heel at ball contact making a natural draw. When you get to 80yrs old you may not hit it so hard.
      Let natural movements happen

    • @lagpressure
      @lagpressure  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Swinging or hitting I don't think is natural. If swinging was natural, guys like VJ wouldn't need to be ball beaters to keep it timed up. Also, I have never seen a beginner golfer pick up a club and swing it naturally with natural tendencies in any kind of effective manner. Learning to play guitar or piano is not natural. Either technique takes thousands of hours to learn correctly and master. Gary Player is in his 80's and still a hitter... as was Snead well into his late years... that being said, I get what you are saying and swinging is a choice just like hitting.
