    Uvita is marvelous!! We have been there several days on our tour to Corcovado National park. The beaches are amazing too, especially Punta Uvita.

    With all of the junk on TH-cam, your videos are always such a relaxing breath of fresh air. Having just a small amount of editing experience, I really appreciate your camera angles, choice of transitions, mix of video and still, music, the whole experience. You really have a talent. Thanks for making these videos.

    Have loved your Costa Rica series. What a tremendous variety of wildlife - it must be quite daunting trying to sleep with rainforest sounds. You captured it all beautifully..

    Love the sounds and rich ambience of the jungle. We also feel we are missing so many details when walking in the jungle. Super cool shots you captured. We can't wait to go back to CR!

    It amazed me that the temperature changed so much in 2 hours or so from the mountains down to the coast at Uvita. I managed to get my best Howler shots here and just loved being woken each morning at 4:30 - 5:00am by their call. You had the same challenges as me. Best shots either from the beach looking in or finding clearings. Great to see you highlighting that you don't need a massive prime lens in Costa Rica as everything gives you a chance of getting close enough. Thank-you for keeping my memories of Costa Rica alive.

    Another great video production 😊😊 Some super photos as well as the steady, even and slow movement of the camera in the video clips. I often use a monopod to help steady any video I shoot when standing still. Your narration is relaxed and smooth which I have never been any good at. Keep on making these type of TH-cam productions which I find more interesting and entertaining than another review of equipment done by lots of photographers 😊😊

    Looks like a great spot. Did you see many frogs? I have seen a lot of frog photos from Costa Rica.
    I used to use monochrome view i my Panasonic G85 as you could use that view but still be capture in colour.
    Unless I am wrong on Olympus to also only capture B&W if you view in B&W ?

      Here in Costa Rica near to my home there are so many atelopus frog... If you ever come let me know it and can help with some pictures.

    • @EspenHelland

      I think I only so one frog 😬 partly because of my inexperience and not knowing where to look, but I also think frogs have declined drastically over the last decades in tropical areas.

    Great series in Costa Rica! Do you use C-AF plus tracking or just C-AF with your birds in flight? Do you use Center weighted, Spot or ESP metering? I am getting not so great results with C-AF plus tracking and center weighted with the OM-1 and 150-400. Think I will switch back to just C-AF and ESP metering. Wish the auto focus on the OM-1 would show white when not in focus and turn green when it's locked on as I am never sure if it's locked on or not! Another great video and thanks for the information if you respond.

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chad, thank you very much. I’m using C-AF without tracking (after a lot of back and forth). I use all the focus points as a default, but switch to a single if I struggle to get focus. For metering, I just go by the highlight alerts and don’t overexpose, don’t really care what metering mode it’s in. You can turn on green when in focus in the settings. I’ve just updated my course for OM System for for wildlife photography for the OM-1 if you want to dive deeper into it 🙂 bit.ly/3qr8ZgM

    Thank you for another great video from Costa Rica, loved the Capuchin monkeys. Any word on your OM-1?? I have been holding off getting one because it seems like you’re not the only one who has had an issue with it. Other than that, keep the beautiful photography and informative videos coming! Great advice about B&W photography, also. 😀

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Karin 🙂 it’s in for repairs, OM gave me another that I actually got to use towards the end of my Costa Rica trip and it’s been working great.

    Great video. I really must go back to Costa Rica! Can I assume the 300 f4 is a better bet for this enviromnent than the 100-400 f5? 👍

  • @MrFirstdance2000

    Wonderful visuals, Espen. I like your stalking methods!! Are you using either of extension 1.4 or 2x with your shots. Pictures are super sharp!

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t find myself using my 1.4x much in Costa Rica. Partly because a lot of wildlife came close and also because I was a bit hesitant putting it in in the high humidity.

  • @billmansfield2120
    @billmansfield2120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you think you’d have got on with your canon 7D ii and 100-400mm instead of the Olympus? Would the extra reach have been better? Would the f5.6 have been too dark?
    I’ve the 7D ii and a 400mm f5.6 prime. I’ll have to take it to CR with me as no chance to buy new gear.

    What camera and lens do you Espen please? Can you walk to Corcovado NP from drake bay town?

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland  ปีที่แล้ว

      For this I used the em1ii and the 300mm f/4, but my setup now is the OM-1 with the 150-400mm. I’m not sure about hiking without a guide. I think you have to have a guide to enter the NP, but best to read up on it.
