- कुछ समय पहले महाराष्ट्र के किनारे पर कोंकण इलाक़े में हजारों साल पहले बने पेट्रोग्लिफ्स यानी पत्थरों पर बने शैलचित्र सामने आए थे.अब पिछले कुछ सालों में आर्कियोलॉजिस्ट्स के रिसर्च में नए तथ्य सामने आए हैं. हज़ारों की संख्या में मिले ये चित्र अब सिर्फ़ महाराष्ट्र से लेकर केरल तक मिल रहे हैं. ये पेट्रोग्लिफ्स अब यूनेस्को की वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज की टेन्टेटिव लिस्ट में भी शामिल हो गए हैं. देखिए बीबीसी संवाददाता मयूरेश कोण्णूर की ये एक्सक्लूसिव रिपोर्ट.

I had the same question, May be they knew about it? If they knew how to draw then they might have known this also. Or it may be they had experience that drawings on these type of stones last longer longer than other stones and not about any chemical inert properties.

I think Sindhu Ghati sabhyata is older than our current estimates. Also, it was not just situated in Sindhu river. It was spread across all over India. They used to Worship lord Shiva in the form of Pashupati and Shivalingam. At least one ancestor of all Indians can be traced back to that civilization. Since India was attacked by invaders (Huns, Greece, etc) from it's Northern side, the people of Sindhu Ghati sabhyata in northern part intermixed with those invaders over time in a much larger way as compared to South Indians.
They did not worship lord Shiva. I dont think there is any evidence of that. The "Pashupati" seal that you are probably referring to, has only a remote resemblance to Shiv ji.

Archaeology is the best way to unravel many mysteries surrounding our ancient civilizations and mythology also. We have to broaden our approach and outlook towards the history. If same kind of figure (a man fighting two lions) appeared in different civilizations and at such a long interval of period ( appearing in 10000 BCE and then again in 2000 BCE), then there should be something real about it. It's hard for a story to travel 10000 yrs.
