My dad was a member of the Houston vintage radio club for many years and this guy is a member too. This is where I met him/know him from. He also has a talent for actually making tubes. One of my best friend's dad has a huge tube collection and made a museum at his house where he has them on display and most of them connected up to power up the filaments. He had a tube that he wanted for his collection but could not find one so he somehow found out this guy makes tubes and they set things up on the phone for glasslinger to make him the replica tube. When he went to pick up the tube the guy answered the door in a dress. He was like, OK...didn't know how to react. But found the guy was very nice and knowledgeable. Anyway, watch and learn I suppose.

what you do, is, you go back and watch how he trouble shoots this. each time you go back you pick up more on what was wrong with this little 47 tv. first, wrong tube. then tube in the wrong spot, then high precision resistors, but first, he trouble shot the works of resistors. then finding the peaking coil bad by tracking it down. all this took great knowledge, and no marker sweep generator, and other devices used in that industry, I doubt he has ever owned a wobbulator.

Seriouslly, I don't know if I can think of anyone on youtube, (or in real life for that matter) that has such a variety of knowledge about so maney topics.
(You are certainlly up there with Ben Karshaw and Jeri Elsworth and those.)
Particularlly those electronics that have become so specialized now.
      Your homemade glassworking lathe forexample.
      Super.

He's got a sense of humor. Dressing in drag (cross dressing) is a common humor theme throughout the history of cinema. From old movies like Some Like It Hot, and even newer movies like Mrs. Doubtfire or Big Momma's House. It's also a theme used in more serious contexts in film, but it's obviously being used for comedic effect here.

You must have good eyes because I would have had to use my magnifier to fix that wire break. Good advice on the alignment and leaving that alone. That takes a marker generator and a lot of work. I like how you antiqued that brass plate. Nice video. Great job. Nice outfit. I don't know how you managed to keep it from getting it dirty. Gary

Did I just sit and watch an hour and a half video?.. yes I did.
Man, I hate when power resistors kick the can. Series string radios for 220 V usually have a huge exposed winding resistor on a cylindrical core that is pretty much always dead. Last time I fixed one, replaced a whole winding with a nicrom coil I pulled from a hair dryer. Had about the right impedance.
