Looking to get my license and thinking about getting a challenger this year. Your videos have giving me some insight on things to be aware of so thank you! One question, what is the optimal cruising altitude and speed for cross country flights in that?
Wow that's awesome! It depends on the day and where you are but I stay around 2 to 3k because I want space for emergencies! I'm 680msl so that gives me 1500ft agl so I can make some decisions! That's just my preference!
Well....I flew my Challenger II LW across the Cascade Mountains to Eastern Washington, tried to stay about 800' agl. Cruise was around 60mph @@TheJonjonj
As you fly under cu clouds with dark flat bottoms, good chance for thermal lift. So as you maintain altitude and leave the throddle alone, your indicated airspeed will increase.
In my opinion if you have anything other than a headwind the answer is yes! But your body get used to it and it requires zero thought! Crosswind is constant rudder tail wind is constant both! You gotta fly these birds!
I've been astonished the times I've watched you launch this bird how quickly it goes up. You hit the gas and in two or three seconds it's airborne! What is the takeoff distance for this? Such a fun little rascal. I hope I can get one.
Yea it's quick to fly! I'm usually up and going 200 to 300 ft and I'm heavy but once it's at 40 it want to go! I plan on making more videos on all that stuff soon!

How does it handle in turbulent air, or windy days with gusting crosswinds. Is it mainly restricted to flying only on calm days?
It does okay in turbulence and crosswind but your gonna put in work that's for sure! These challengers are wind vains they point into the wind!

How much fuel did that use? About 110 miles, 2 hours?
@edifyguy it was 1.3 Hobbs 6 gallons it was 60 miles round trip.. but I was on the throttle and of course 2 takeoffs!
