Norm I’m just that kind of guy I like to trying to find the positives and everything. Yes, it took over the beloved Hawaiian theme show but this tower is absolutely beautiful. And I am sure everybody will be clamoring to get there for fireworks and that new restaurant and in those rooms. Thanks So much for traveling along with us, and being part of our traveling family and we hope you’ve had a fantastic week.
Thank you for showing taking us on a tour. Now Todd this is my opinion, I like the new hotel, nicely decorated, but it looks like any other new hotel in the area. I know it’s the future, but staying at a themed Disney hotel was the way to go, especially the rooms. Like I said, this is the future, doing away with themed hotels, hopefully won’t loose the magic. I don’t know if Disney will loose the resorts, since we’ve stayed in Disney vacation rooms/ apartments before, at Saratoga Springs ( 3 times) and once at the Old Key West. Lovely rooms and the added bonus was laundry facilities in the apartments, which was a money saver! lol! 😊
Donna, I totally agree with you. I do not like this new teaming that they’re going with in these hotels. I want the feel of riverside French Quarter animal kingdom wilderness Lodge even the All Star, sports music and movies. They went to the minimalist decorations and I’m just not a big fan of that either. Will have to say this location has fantastic views of the castle and fireworks and one day we’ll take a room tour to see just what we can find. That is Disney beaming. Hope you had a great time at Disneyland Paris thanks as always for traveling along with us and being part Of our traveling family. Have a great weekend my friend.
Yeah I think everything from now on will be DVC only, or at least have a DVC component to it - at least unless Disney decides to build more moderate/value resorts, but I don't think they are planning on that any time soon.
Sadly, I think I agree with you I don’t think we’ll ever see any more. Moderate resorts are any resorts built that aren’t DVC. Thanks for joining us on this travel and For being part of our traveling family. we hope you have a fantastic weekend.

We should have just a little more Disney teaming inside but I haven’t seen the room yet so I can’t wait to see those in person. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family and we hope you’ve had a great week.
We cannot wait to see you guys on your upcoming visit. You’re going to have a great time there and please utilize the pool. It’s so pretty. Hope you guys are doing great and staying warm my friend. See you soon.
Paula, it was absolutely gorgeous and I cannot wait to take a look at a room one day. Definitely going to be going back to check out the restaurant in the bar area and they reviews for fireworks. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family and we hope you’ve had a fantastic week.
Can't wait to see the rooms. Hopefully they have more theming than the lobby. Kind of looks like a combination of the airport and an office lobby. Wish they had done more, like the dvc at Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge. I wonder if the rooms will be large like the hotels. Stayed at Poly right after it opened as a kid. Remember thinking the waterfall and plants in the lobby were the size of a skyscraper lol. At that time, you had to swim under the waterfall to get to the steps of the slide, they were inside the hill formed in the "rock" and slippery. Between that, the music piped under the water, and the electric water pageant we were in love. Course, MK was the only park and Space Mountain wasn't finished yet lol. Still, something I'll never forget (still have my ticket booklet).
I will say I was hoping for a little more Disney beaming as well, but it is gorgeous and the views of the 70s lagoon are amazing. Hopefully one day we will get to take a room tour or even see your room. Thanks so much for joining us on our travels and we hope you have a fantastic weekend.
It’s an absolutely beautiful resort. The theme in the views from the lobby are just spectacular. I do wish there was a little more Disney deeming inside not so obscure but a little bit more Disney theme inside. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family.
@@theresaskwara4021 I thought about this too. Especially because they building what used to be called reflections resort to now what’s renamed as the Lakeshore lodge. @@WhatsEvenRealAnymore it’s all about occupancy for DVCs profitability - unsold inventory is available for cash reservations which goes back to DVC - especially at the crazy high rates for DVC rooms. There were times in the past where several DVC properties were for sale concurrently.
Sadly, I agree with you I don’t think we’ll ever see any more Disney resorts being built. They will all be DVC buildings from this point forward but now we have several DBC‘s still selling points like Riviera, the grand Floridian, the new buildings, Aulani, the Polynesian and now will have the large coming in a year and a half but the good thing about them is Disney can rent those out to guest also so that is a win-win situation for Disney for sure Theresa thank you so much for being part of our traveling family and we hope you have had a fantastic week.
Hi Michelle and Todd! Thank you so much for this video! We absolutely love the Island Tower ❤ We believe Disney is going to keep building DVC resorts We hope you are all having a Wonderful Holiday Season 🎄🏰🎶
Alej totally agree with you. It is DVC’s from here and into the future. It is just a win-win situation with the BC buildings for Disney. I think that’s the case with a lot of corporations. Disney is just more front and forward and people judge them a little more than other companies, but all companies waste money. Disney is a company and they just go with the times and what people are wanting now is not what they wanted yesterday. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family. Have a fantastic weekend.
@@TravelingAroundDisney okay but I've never seen a company or corporation like the Walt Disney Corporation go through so much money within 10 to 15 years
Love the Poly and this new tower is absolutely beautiful. I have been a big fan of this property from the beginning. I work at the Contemporary and watched it being built. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family.
It is absolutely gorgeous and I am super happy that the walkway to the GF & MK is opened back up. My biggest concern with this addition is the extra stress it will put on the transportation. The monorails, boats and buses are already stretched to the limits. Adding all those new rooms without expanding transportation options is not ideal. I will keep booking the Contemporary for now ;) hopefully in the future they will give the Poly & the Grand separate buses at least.
Susie Q this property is absolutely gorgeous but I totally agree. It is going to put a strain on the monorail and the boating system. Hopefully they will add more boats but I’m not sure about monorails you know me and Contemporary you know I’ll always choose that one. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family. Hope you’ve had a great week.
I will say I was expecting a little more Disney teaming inside, but it is a gorgeous resort. And I think the fake grass helps with that’s a great seating area for fireworks viewing. So that way the guest won’t get dirty and I’ll just be fake grass and very maintainable. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family. Have a fantastic weekend.
Isn’t that the way of the world now anyway, it’s all about the money. This is an absolutely gorgeous resort though. And yes, site lines are not perfect. With this place. But the views of seven seas lagoon is absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family.
Don't forget, money makes the world go round. If they weren't profitable, Disney wouldv've been scooped up long ago by a corporate raider who would sold the copmpany off piece by peice, as one tried to do recently. But the company won the stockholder proxy battle.
Saw some tours on TH-cam last night. Rooms looked nice, but overall there's really no South Seas vibes. Honestly, I'd stay at the Polynesian before I'd stay here
Stephen. I’ll have to agree. It’s a little more hidden Southseas teaming. Hopefully has a grows up it’ll grow into a little bit more of that. I will have to say about the views of the castle and the fireworks are going to be absolutely fantastic. We hope you’ve had a fantastic week, my friend, and thanks for traveling along with us.
I mean, that’s what Vacations or for us to relax and enjoy. If you to an all exclusive resort they offer the same cornhole or horseshoes badminton volleyball and still pay thousands of dollars. It’s just wanna Traveler likes to do with their time that’s important to them. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our Traveler Family.
Every Disney resort Deluxe resort has either been built with a DVC Component, or had one added since OKW first opened in 1991, including the Polynesian when they switched two longhouses to DVC Studios and added the bungalows. This is simply an addition to that component. It is certainly a way to recoup the initial cost of building it, plus get the upkeep paid, and DISNEY still can rent out the rooms themselves, if no DVC Member has booked them. It's a win...win for DIsney, and DVC Members, who, if they use their timeshare as intended, can save moneyin the long run.
Totally agree DBC is a win-win situation for Disney. Wouldn’t be surprised in the future that they take the two buildings closest to the tower and that new pool and convert those to DVC. Disney is a business and they think ahead and they know what sales and right now VVC is the way to go for them. Thanks so much for traveling along with us and being part of our traveling family. We hope you have a fantastic weekend.
Thanks for the heart comments they really do help. We are so glad you joined us in on this adventure and as always, thank you so much for being part of our traveling family. Have a great weekend.
I like it. It’s more subdued than the original building as far as theming, but honestly most DVC buildings are. It’s in a prime location and will book quickly no matter what people think of its aesthetics. My thought is Disney will only be building DVC going forward as they can lock in new DVC members but still offer availability to other guests by points rental or rack rates. In the long run, a DVC is a better financial return for them than building regular moderates or values.
Yeah, I think from this point forward DVC resorts will be the way that Disney goes. I would’ve liked a little more darker colors on the outside of the building. It is a little muted. Especially with the art features on the outside building walls they could’ve been a little darker. Yes sadly everything nowadays seems to be going to that minimalist look. And I agree it’s a win-win situation for Disney. If they don’t sell the points, they can just rent the rooms out. Yep sadly I agree no more moderate or values in the future. Thanks for being part of our traveling family and we hope you have a fantastic weekend
I will agree you were correct it could be anywhere. I do love the outside area for the fireworks viewing especially the restaurant and bar area. But would’ve loved a little more. Disney teaming inside the lobby. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family and have a fantastic weekend.
Yep another timeshare but it is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, I think this is worth the direction. Disney is heading with any new resort. Thanks for traveling along and being part of our traveling family.
Nancy, thank you so much for your hard comment. They really do help with TH-cam. Thanks for joining along on our travels and being part of our traveling family. We hope you have had a fantastic week.
Anyone can stay in a DVC hotel though, right? I’m not a DVC member and have stayed in many DVC resorts. Its a genuine question, I’ve never actually seen any difference.
Yes they can. Disney is allotted a certain amount of rooms for non DVC guest. DVC says it’s like staying at a deluxe resort and paying moderate resort prices once you add it all up. Great question. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family.
@@TravelingAroundDisney yeah, not sure I believe Disney on that one. You still need to pay something like $20k up front to be a DVC member as well as paying to stay at a resort. Clearly it must work for enough people, else Disney wouldn’t do it, but I’ve yet to see a single use case where it isn’t significantly more expensive than just booking a room when you want one.
@@omnicognatesnr5947if you add up cash stays staying at one of the DVC resorts in a one bedroom or larger, you hit that $20K in no time. Of course if you always stay at moderates or value resorts, you get more stays for that amount. As a retired couple who bought DVC before retirement, we’ve done the math to show that we already covered what we paid for our membership. It’s a lot easier for us to say “Let’s go to Disney World” when our room is covered. For us, annual dues are less than the cost of one vacation and we go two to three times per year on our points. I will say it started as a financial decision when we bought our first contract but it totally changed the feel of our trips. Owners since 2012 and very happy. There are many things we’ve done that I don’t think we would have without DVC, including a Disneyland trip and Aulani in Hawaii.
@@omnicognatesnr5947 as a non-DVC member you have the ability to rent point from either a member or from a third-party agent who operates as an intermediary between members and non-members. Renting points enables you to get the room at DVC member prices without having to lock into the timeshare contract. So yes it can be significantly cheaper than reserving a deluxe room at rack rate through Disney.
I would’ve liked a little more Disney teaming, but it is a fantastic location from what I’m seeing on the points chart the points aren’t too bad to get a room there. This is just the way of the world now with Disney. It’s gonna be all DVC resorts from here on out. It’s a win-win situation for them. Thanks for being part of our traveling family and we hope you has a fantastic week.

I will agree I was expecting just a little bit more Disney into that tower instead of just the very hidden meanings with the Moana teaming. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family and we hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Thanks for being part of our traveling family and we hope you have a fantastic weekend
Disappointed. Nice but could be anywhere.
I will agree you were correct it could be anywhere. I do love the outside area for the fireworks viewing especially the restaurant and bar area. But would’ve loved a little more. Disney teaming inside the lobby. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family and have a fantastic weekend.
Another timeshare WHO CARES
Yep another timeshare but it is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, I think this is worth the direction. Disney is heading with any new resort. Thanks for traveling along and being part of our traveling family.
Todd asked me to leave a comment……. Does this count. ❤

@ my husband and I love watching you and Michelle!
🌸
Over priced. Nothing special. An eyesore.
Not impressed! Boring for Disney
But it has a pool!!!!
It could use a little more Disney teaming. I would agree with that. But it’s in a great location and a great view. And it does have the only pool with fireworks views on property. Hopefully overtime it’ll age a little bit better With its surroundings. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family. Hope you’ve had a fantastic week.
Not their best effort....maybe they can 'plus-it' in the future.
I do believe in the future it will grow up And look at a little more south sees vibe. I would like the little more Disney deeming inside the lobby but it’s hidden, but you just gotta look for it. But the views of the castle and fireworks are absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much for traveling along and being part of our traveling family. Hope you had a great week.
It's so disappointing and boring. No creativity disney is just lost.
I will agree I was expecting just a little bit more Disney into that tower instead of just the very hidden meanings with the Moana teaming. Unfortunately, I’m gonna have to agree and say I don’t think we’ll ever see resorts again themed like wilderness Lodge, animal Kingdom, Lodge or even French Quarter or Riverside. Thanks so much for being part of our traveling family and we hope you have a fantastic weekend.
I think this is the end of new Disney resorts. Disney makes more money from DVC memberships than they do from people staying at their resorts.
Bruce, totally agree. I think from here on out that’s gonna be DVC. It’s just a win-win situation for Disney. If they don’t sell out all the points they just rent the rooms. Thanks so much for traveling along with us and being part of our traveling family. We hope you’ve had a fantastic week.
