I was always aware of the Jayhawks & liked them but I have to be honest it wasn't until they started working with a friend of mine Ray Davies of the KinKs that I took a closer look at them, now I am a totally hooked on them, I saw them several times in the past year and even went to London to see some of them back Ray at Hyde Park last year, hopefully they will tour with Ray to support his new album, no matter what I am seeing them every chance I get from now on! Plus they are not only a great band they are great people too! Saw them last night in Tarrytown, NY What a GREAT show, they are the real deal and just as I was losing my faith in music they have revived it. God save the Jayhawks a phrase I don't use lightly and if you are a KinKs fan you know why.
Excellent comment. I've been a major Jayhawks fan since the 90's. Hollywood Town Hall CD started it off for me. And they still got it, they just keep producing really good music
I literally just downloaded their album yesterday and it’s one of my favourite albums of the year. Also, I haven’t even watched the video because I know they’re gonna be great. 🌸✨
This song is amazing as is this performance. Gary is a genius, but the entire band is just fantastic. It is really nice to see Tim and Karen get so much time in the spotlight on this album, because it really highlights just how good The Jayhawks are as a unit. In my opinion, the Gary/Tim partnership is better than the Gary/Mark partnership. I know a lot of people won't like my opinion, but I don't mean it as a slight to Mark. After all, Gary and Mark created one of my favorite albums of all time in Hollywood Town Hall. I just feel that Gary is is willing to explore different styles and sounds a little more than Mark, and Mark was more focused on recreating a trademark sound. The original Jayhawks are sort of like an alt-country Rolling Stones to the current band's alt-country Beatles.
Vid- Tim and Gary and the current crew make the Jayhawks. Mark was a creative weight and just a personality drag on the whole thing. His self-important nature totally sank himself. Watch anything live after he came back and you'll see him trying to mess with Gary. I've lightly met both in person and Gary Louris is a super-kind person to be around and the other guy is just a total d-bag. I really mean that. He's an asshole. He believes he's some sort of new Dylan or something that never got any recognition, while Gary and the rest of the Jayhawks continue to pump out utterly gorgeous music, album after album- and what's crazy to me, is they are BETTER AND BETTER EVERY EFFORT! I cannot wait for XOXO. Also, I want to say a little something... Gary Louris is 65 fuckin years old and I don't know what to say...I'm straight as an arrow and I just admire the man.
Such a sad and powerful song. Brilliantly written and performed, as always.
Reminds me of Sip the Wine by Rick Danko. Good stuff! Tim's vocal...always amazing.

Absolutely stunning.
Stunning - way to go Tim
Damn that's a beautiful song...
Love this... sounds like it could be for me, someday.
The interplay between Gary and the drummer on the 'Well you think there's a place' verse...I adore it.
Thank you!
Casey
Tim O'Reagan is the drummer...he has a great voice! He sings lead on one of my favorite Jayhawks songs called Tampa to Tulsa...
Thank you for the information - that's a new one on me.
Take care,
Casey
Amazing performance
This song hits me like 2 million tons of bricks. :(
Wow ... brilliant performance of a brilliant song.
A beautiful song and a great performance. Thank you. 👍
Maravilloso
That mandolin sounds amazing.
that is the work of the great John Jackson !
An incredible song from an amazingly talented band. ❤
Vicki Reed you summer it up perfectly. From the very beginning this song is amazing

Great song!!!
I'd be good with this played at my funeral.
A passionate performance of a gorgeous song!
Thank you for the excellent sound and video production.

I'm with you on this; Gary and Tim's harmonies sound great together.
+1 on that thought
+2....and Tim's solo album is wonderful, as well. His voice is gold.
Absolutely!

This is about "Life" on earth. Not leaving earth.
Just shows you how deep the Jayhawks go.
Tim almost pulls of a Van Morrison vibe with this music. Well done!
Gary Louris and Bob Dylan: these two Minnesotans know how to write about death.
Wasn't this written by Tim? And isn't Gary from Ohio?
(Apologies if I'm misinformed!)
Apologies: co-written by Louris (from Ohio!)...
Co-written by Jakob Dylan (Bob's son) and Gary Louris
❤️👌
Best version of this song
Chido musica
I imagine Petty would have done a great job of this tune as well! (RIP) Great song.
I totally can hear that. Wake up time
Where's Jakob??
Musically, very Dylanesque.
It's a song of Jakob Dylan !
God dammit...
