- Tens of thousands of Civil War soldiers travelled back and forth across Virginia during the course of the War Between the States. I'm relic hunting on one of the busiest routes today. Hard to believe anything is left, but I managed to pull buttons and bullets and a few other little treasures today! #civilwar #deus #dirtfishing #history #metaldetecting #relichunting #treasure #treasurehunt #treasurehunter #treasurehunting
A good day and good work!! The fields are starting to grow again up here at Antietam. Time to hit the creeks and woods! Love the videos! Keep ‘em coming!!!!!
Man, go GET you some, unknown!
Hi from the UK Walker, finally caught up watched all your vids always been interested in ACW and havevisited Cold Harbor and found trenches, keep them coming i look forward to the next, Alan
Good grief! I'm honored that you would watch them all Alan. I love that you came to Cold Harbor and experienced that place. Imagine that tiny hamlet swelling with THOUSANDS of soldiers! I got back to the spot and did better this time (Including a UK made bullet and a Glasgow made button! - both made it all the way to Cold harbor!), so see you this Friday at 10:45 AM! Oh wait, that's MY time... cheers!
Hello Walker. Don't turn in the relic hunter's card yet. Lol. Persistence pays off. The weather is getting beautiful now. Keep the videos coming. Donnie- W.V. 🇺🇲
Thanks Donnie! I got to go back and the finds were a little bit better that time. So see you Friday at 10:45!
I love finding anything period and I didn’t see my truck! I have several permission’s near the roads in Hanover and you make me want to hunt them but an abundance of pull tabs in Hanover, go figure! Thanks for sharing brother.
Wonder how many of those pull tabs were yours??
Great Hunt and video Walker.
Thanks Dennis. Nice to consistently find some relics.
We call those bullets you found Georgia teats, .52 cal sharps variant...you keep it real that's for sure and I agree with you on the inventor of the pull tab.. string him up!!! 😅
Thanks Gary! You get the rope, I'll find a tree . . .
Not a bad day walker. I would be happy with that.. such cool places you got to go detect.. god bless and keep them coming
Thanks Dewey - but I do get jealous at some of the CS stuff you Tarheels find! (Oh, and the LOW COUNTRY!)
That’s what’s up Yo! Walking that same trail, how incredible! Makes me wonder how many times have I been walking in the same footsteps as history and not even realize it. Things were starting to heat up until the rain ran ya off. Hoping you get to hunt that spot one time before the crops. Keep walking and digging Yo!
I DID get one more time. Hits this Friday. And it was a better day. Thanks always for your encouragement, Beachwalker!
Teat base Sharps, nice find. Don’t find that many here in N.W. Georgia. Great video
I didn't realize that! Not rare here. I mean, a nice surprise, but not rare. I went back to this spot, and you'll see what I mean on Friday. Thanks for the kind words, John!
Thnx for the video’s.
Brian, thanks for watching them and commenting!
You set the standard for CW relic hunting videos. Almost as much fun as hunting itself. Thanks for taking us along.
Kind of you to say David; I don't know about that, but I enjoy what I do!
Both my sons live in Virginia one in Orange county where i lived for 15 years and other son culpeper county! Im back in Texas now, i sure do miss the beautiful sights there😢. Love ur channel!
Thank you Michelle! Orange is a GORGEOUS part of the state, though I never hunted there. Thank you for your kind words!
boy, mr frogs going to wake up with one weird dream lol.
8:25 looks more sideplate to my eye. but im not all that familiar with clock parts, so who knows?
heck, that oddball bullet and the j hook made the day.
You're right about the bullet and hook, man. And my wife and I laughed about the Frog comment!
Subscribed ..my favorite period in history.. Thanks for taking me along...see you next time Battlefield Walker
Welcome aboard Jonathan! I hope you enjoy catching up on the stories and I'll see you for the next one, next Friday!
A good day. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for jumping on board Donnie!
Well done Walker
I appreciate that!
Hope you can make it again before they plant. Looking forward to hearing more stories about the old-time relic hunters!
I need to get back to that Swamp! And I did make it back. And with better results. That video will hit next Friday . . .
That was a great hunt Walker! Congrats buddy! As always, enjoy the videos. Good luck next time out.
Appreciate it Joe! It was nice to consistently find relics throughout the day . . .
Good on you for saving the frog.
Yes! I hope he survived my attempt at rebuilding his bedroom. I didn't strike HIM at all, at least . . .
I can only imagine the feeling of actually walking exactly where those Soldiers did. But I guess no matter where we walk today, somebody else did at one time
Yep. We like to say that in central Virginia, you can't STAND in a place that a civil war soldier didn't march across, fight on, sleep at or relieve himself on! And that's probably not too far from the truth.
Keep saving that history 👍 ATB 🦀
Thanks Finding . . .
Hey BW! Great going along with you today, thanks for sharing! I believe you're right on the money with that Sharps variant. Thomas' Book CW Bullets & Cartridges describes what I believe you found....... ".52 cal. Sharps - Two variants of the "new model" bullet. These were machine-pressed with a variety of cavities: small cone, truncated cone and with teats of varying lengths". Glad you were able to save some history! Take care buddy and God Bless!
Appreciate the kind words Shane. Back in the day, I paid little attention to bullet variants. Heck they were everywhere. Now I'm trying to educate myself!
Great Video man I just found out when I was digging in the same dump dated back 1890s til 1930s I found three Civil War Suspenders clips two of a pair one different. I live not to far where there was a lot of Union Soldiers were crossing a lake. So my hypothesis was the owner of the homestead was fishing and maybe found them and used them like they were new. Any ways thanks for the lesson your 10th Grader fan!
Sounds like a good theory to me, and congrats for getting in that dump and recognizing what you found! Well done! Look, ask your parents if it's OK, and if it is, send me one of their name and address and I'll send you a few civil war relics found at Cold Harbor, VA. Love to see a young person getting into the hobby, and thanks for your kind words.
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 I have been trying to figure it out I was wondering how to do it privately.
Send me an email. walker@RCofC.org. @@KolbeHoeper
If that wasn't a side plate off of a rifle it might just be an old drawer pull escutcheon, what do you think?
Really enjoy your vids, hope you can get back to that field, thanks
Alton . . . I think you've got it. Never even thought of that, so thanks! In other news, I got to hunt the field again earlier this week. That vid will hit next Friday, and I did considerably better this time . . .
Looks like a meteorite fragment
Thanks Robert.
Think I could join you the next time you go back to the field
That's the one thing I CAN'T do George! My permissions are so delicate, I'm not allowed to bring anybody. I have one permission where my friends (Genna, MUdduck & Amy) also have permission, and I go as guests of others sometimes . . . Really sorry, but thanks for watching man!
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 no worries. Thanks for responding back
5:47 Looks a lot like some of the Smith carbine bullets I have?
Well - I wonder if that's what it is then? It looks like a sharps but a good bit taller. Like elongated? I could easily believe another variant. I returned to that spot earlier this week and had a bit more success. Nothing great, but I found SEVEN variants of bullet types. Thanks Steve!
I hate those hot rocks when they are deep they sound damn good . I use an an xp deus
I use the same machine Heer. I didn't show it on the video, but I thought this hotrock was a breastplate. It was a solid 75 (Last two breastplates I dug rang up consistent 75s). When I got to it, it appeared round and looked like the back lead fill! I was SO bummed!
I think maybe the hot rocks are coal
Never knew they would give off a signal Pete, but you might be right. They're VERY light.
