- Anomaly Investigation: Lv. 300 25 min Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax (Infernal Springs)
This TA+Augments run definitely had potential to be sub 4’30 if he didn’t aerial stab spam so much, but that is typical of EX Risen Valstrax. Sub 5 was my goal going into this where I am not surprised I was able to get a faster time than my Anomaly Research run despite the lv. 300 25 min investigation having around 95k hp or so and the research quest around 80k considering the map is Infernal Springs and I have access to a rainbow spiribird.
If I get a 25 min quest Risen Valstrax on Forlorn since I am confident that map will make it easier to get a faster time. Also, unless people want to see me run the special investigation version of Risen Valstrax which has an absurd 125k hp solo for a 25 min quest, lv 300 quests is where I retire from running him due to my channel essentially being mostly Risen Valstrax runs.
Thanks for watching and let me know what you all think of EX Risen Valstrax. I personally find him pretty easy for the dual blades matchup, but I also have hunted Risen Valstrax god knows how many times.

Edited 5-5-23:
Here is the actual true final conclusion to my Valstrax saga lol. This was a very rage inducing grind that was difficult to cross the sub 5 barrier even with build upgrades. Anyways, give this run some love if you enjoyed this video. th-cam.com/video/49f7YnXBB68/w-d-xo.html

Taking notes from olay, final #3
@@TerraMag1 Final of the final final run version 69.
Holy cow, this video makes it all look so simple. I know it wasn’t. The results of your hard work are plain to see!
Thank you. I honestly did not even play that well or really use an optimal build at the time, but I still wanted to try running this on Infernal since I only had Valstrax on this map back then before I got an him arena. If you want to see how I have improved my play against him, I would say check out of my latest run for the special investigation version. That run is pretty much the product of all the pain I went through running this monster for so long.
That scarf is so cool
You are a very skilled player that was very impressive i’ve been scrolling through your comment section here and the information you have replied to people with will help me a large amount I did not know that Val Stracks legs can still take elemental damage when he is in raged I’ve always aimed for his chest just to knock him out of it faster
Risen Valstrax is one of my most hunted monsters so I know the match up pretty well. Have been running him since TU4 where I got obsessed with trying to get sub 4 TA+Augments for him. It is still pretty hard to hit his legs at times and this Risen Valstrax is the EX version where it is in the air more, has extra follow ups to its risen moves, and can delay its uppercut.
@@uk_leng you’ve got a subscribe out of me my friend I am a dooblades Maine and I look forward to going back to your catalog of videos and learning off of you
@@Zohard104 Thank you, I appreciate it.
Hey great hunt, watching a skilled DB player is always really satisfying. I've been dabbling into the weapon from time to time but I'd like to make a meta build during this TU. Also "I personally find him pretty easy for the dual blades matchup, but I also have hunted Risen Valstrax god knows how many times" same lmao (just with Lance). He's still a really fun fight tho, with Risen Shagaru maybe my favourite in the game, as they're just so high octane and aggressive.
Thanks for comment. Yeah, builds for TU5 brought even more upgrades that allow for so many different armor combinations especially due to how absurd qurio charms are. I personally use berserk builds most of the time considering how busted they are but dereliction is still fun to use. The Risen Valstrax matchup is just overall very grounded db friendly which I like and enjoy. Risen Shagaru especially EX Risen Shagaru I absolutely despise and don’t plan to really run at all, maybe in the future though.
If only they brought back the dragon scarf...
In other news, great run. Hope to use this as a template for my future hunts against this damn demon. XD
I would say that using frenzied bloodlust even with one level is worth it against Risen Valstrax, but other monsters you want two levels if you can spiral slash spam essentially. Also, I am using Daora Ventus in this run due to how much shit I can fit in the build. Rimeguard greaves are truly goated.
I have never needed a weapon skin so badly in my life
There is actually one for it on Nexus now by ShivaSSOB. I have had this skin though since like TU2 or even earlier since I commissioned Philosopickle to make it for me.
@@uk_leng Coming from an artist: that makes it even better knowing that you commissioned someone to make it! Thanks for the info, imma download it now :D
Very nice! 3:50 stressed me out just from watching
Yeah, was a few ticks away from dying to berserk health drain.
You should try to get Valstrax in the Arena map since it cant do its ambush there which will save you more time.
Yeah, I am trying that next, but the point is not the ambush but rather having access to another wirebug in the area nearby which Forlorn is the best map for. Also, arena has that ledged side that I despise if he ends up camping it. I am using frenzied bloodlust but only one level as more of an addition to the build that has been helping with having a third wirebug up when I run out of the one I picked up. EX Risen Valstrax after you knock him out of Risen form can be very random where you either get great spiral slash openings or you get aerial spam bs. Anyways though, I expect Forlorn to help me reach my sub 4'30 goal in an easier manner when I get a 25 min quest on it.
@@uk_leng Why does the quest timer make a difference in the run does the monster start with less help to compensate
@@Zohard104 Almost 5k hp difference between not having a 25 min quest and having it. This is especially important for special investigation quests where the hp is just insanity on a lot mons solo.
@@uk_leng do the same rules apply if you get a quest with a 35 minute timer it’s just not as big of a difference?
@bustword Hey man, I took for your word for it and started running on arena today and got a final run that I am proud of to upload to TH-cam so thanks for that. This run is actually slightly slower than a Forlorn run I got yesterday but I was disappointed in how many over-committing swings/plays I did that costed me a lot of time that would have made the run go possibly into sub 4'10 territory (rng was just godlike during this run and I failed to capitalize on it even more with my mistakes). I also had to adjust my build specifically for arena to try and pick up frenzied bloodlust 2 which involved swapping charms and some armor pieces around but I unfortunately did not get to capitalize off it where I did't get the additional wirebug when I needed it the most, but oh well, I am not malding again trying to get sub 4'30 again.
Takes be back to my first time ever fighting and defeating a Valstrax in Gen, it was with the dual blades, I'm not far off from Risen tier. Think I'll make sure to pay a bit of homage to that first victory when i do ⚔️
My man rockin the michael muzan drip
Hello great runs there,, but can i ask why you keep demon dance in his leg when he is down in early phase ? only during later phase you did spiral in his head which seems to deals more damage
i am new to rise please enlighten me
When Valstrax becomes enraged, all parts of his body become 0 elemental hitzones except his forelegs. His forelegs are always weak to element no matter if he is charged or not. Considering the aforementioned. You are forced to chop at his feet most of the time for optimal damage and when you knock him out of risen state, you can use spiral slash since his body becomes weak to element again.
Valstrax : HOOMAN U DARE TO CHALLENGE ME WITH THOSE PUNY NEEDLES??
you : easy peasy
Man you got a mod for that scarf from world I miss it 😭
As a main DB, I have a question: Why using basic attack/Blade Dance" most of the time instead of demon flurry rush ? It has been buff and it can do a good amount of damage now
Good question, the combo you ideally want to do is a couple of regular slashes and then flurry rush spam, loop this same thing. The issue is that when you use flurry at times, your don’t get stopped on the outside of his forelegs and instead get pushed inside or past it which sucks since you lose dps hitting anywhere but the forelegs in his charged state.
@@uk_leng ok thanks the for info !
I stop playing on switch because I've gotten it on ps5 and I've dipped in on switch just to fight amastu and see the new qurious melding. I cannot wait to play sunbreak on ps5. I've picked up on switch axe and charge blade as my 2 weapons and planning on learning all weapons except the bow, greatsword, and sns. Gunlance may be a hit and miss as I find it to be the most difficult to use.
It sucks though that console doesn’t get all TUs at launch. I know myself I don’t have the time to grind the game on two separate platforms but props to those who can do it and go through the gacha hell that is qurio augments and charms all over again.
@uk_leng I actually stopped playing the switch for a period of time to play other games, but considering I'm now on a budget and won't spend money, I plan to play sunvreak til the new Monster hunters. I'm just playing games I've bought that I haven't beaten, and I have the steam deck, so me using emulators gives me more options until a specific game I want come out. Have a whole wish list on ps5, switch, stuff on the series x I'm still playing or waiting to buy
@ラテちゃん I'm looking to play old rpgs at some point. I've started sky of arcadia for gamecube. But since sunbreak is out for ps5, I doubt I'll be doing that anytime soon as I'm trying to reach my goal for the next update for next month. Finished sunbreak on Sunday, and that's with only 2 days of 2 to 3 hours and 1 day for the whole day.
Oathkeeper and oblivion mod. Wow
The keyblade👌
I gotta ask I've seen it before but why does strax take more damage on his arms than head does Risen have a secret good hitzone?
Because no matter if he is enraged or not , his legs are pretty much always giga weak to element. The downside though as you can see in the run is that you have to use max might really when chopping the legs for optimal dps since weakness exploit does not work on the legs. My build does have weakness exploit due to the coil but that is just another bonus that comes with adding frenzied bloodlust into my build. There is no secret good hitzone for Risen Valstrax, he essentially carries the same weak points as normal Valstrax.
@uk_leng ah that makes much more sense thanks for clarifying
how to get 10 anomalys slots on his own weapon. Can i do this for all weapons
You can get this on all weapons by doing anomaly investigations at various level thesholds that drops the materials needed to augment for more slots.
I have a question. Why stamina doesnt decrease after you switch to blue scroll ?
The skill strife 3 gives you infinite stamina when you have more than 60% of your health red. Another skill berserk makes all your health red when you swap to blue scroll so you essentially always have infinite stamina up.
Nice vid. Btw, how did you get that scarf?
Nice i love oathkeeper and oblivion
How do you do the double wire bug move, is that a skill you unlock later in the game?
If you are referring to spiral slash, that is a move introduced in sunbreak and you can do two consecutive faster with the skill wind mantle.
@@uk_leng yes this is what I was asking about, I just started the sunbreak expansion wanted to wait to get to HR 50 in rise before starting it, seems like sunbreak really adds a lot more to the game can't wait to discover all of it 😄
I could tell well how was your build and then try and good video poor Valtrex
Hey very cool video that was impressiv but i was wondering what is the blue bar over your health bar ? Is it because of a talent or your weapon idk ?
It is the skill intrepid heart where the more damage you deal, that bar fills up. When that bar is full and you end up taking a hit, you take less damage from that hit. It is like Rocksteady Mantle if you played MHW.
Whats that backwards evade through the scream at 0.27? and how do you perform it?
If you are controller, just point your joystick toward you the same time you press the evade button.
Absolutely incredible run! So, is Demon Flurry Rush the better choice against Valstrax compared to Demon Flight?
Thank you! Yes, I found that demon flurry rush and chopping the legs was just the best way to deal damage considering as we know, Valstrax's legs are always weak to element no matter if he is enrage or not. It can be kind of hard though to precisely hit the legs all the time against him, but I feel I have gotten a lot better at it from when I first started running Risen Valstrax back in TU4.
damn man you using oath keeper and Oblivion , Risen Valstrax fcked up.
They are my favorite video game weapons by far so it is nice that Philosopickle was able to make this for me as a commission.
I like how these videos always put the Tool Assisted at the very end of the title to keep it hidden when the video pops up on the recommended.
Where you found the keyblade style?
I commissioned it to be made. I had Philosopickle make it for me along with the scarf being added with the summer hat if you equip it.
:peepostare:
what item did you use to not get your stamina reduced?
is that roxas keyblade?
Yes, there is a version of it on nexus, but mine was commissioned. I have had this since like TU2 or so.
Like!
Please slow down when showing build.
Wish we had mods on switch, I want keyboards too
