I don’t know…I’ve held the si planner because I bought an a5. It’s fantastic quality. The si weeks version literally answers every issue you have ever spoken about on your channel repeatedly. Honestly, I’m so shocked your not excited about it. I’m starting to think you thrive a bit in your discontent…which is fine and I love your channel so much…your planner, of course do you…but still…lol, it’s a head scratcher.
I don’t thrive on discontent, and I very much am still searching for the thing that answers all the things. Maybe if this had a more sturdy cover I’d be sold. I just imagine myself moving into this one and then it falling apart. It seems to be good quality, but I’ve also seen others share quality issues. I’m looking at another option currently. Hopefully I can share soon. 🤓
I’ve been using both B6 and A5 this year adding stickers and some tip-ins and had no issues. But I do know some have had issues (though it was a small percentage) but it was due to the 2023 covers - they’re paper - even the leatherette finish mauve one is paper. All her planners (dated and undated) and her notebooks had paper covers. She tried to just thicken the paper in the spring/summer release but all that did was make the cover thicker it didn’t actually remedy the problem. Paper tears and doesn’t give the coverage for the spine that’s needed - the paper just doesn’t hold up. And the black linen cover was the main culprit because it didn’t have a finish to add extra durability like the mauve did. That’s why she changed to the PVC/PU faux leather covers for 2024. To provide a good cover that won’t tear and will last. There shouldn’t be an issue with the. 2024 planners as a result - they’ll be strong and durable just as other brands like stalogy, wonderland222, papertess, AuraEstelle, plannermonkey etc.
I can't answer on behalf of Sam, but I get the feeling she is very similar to me in that I find the imperfections in everything and they are primarily what I focus on. Its not thriving in discontent, because believe me, to be able to focus on what you DO like instead of what you DONT would be so much nicer, but unfortunately for some of us, it just doesn't work that way and it sucks. Hope you dont take this as me coming at you, im merely trying to explain to some extent why some of us in the planner community never seem happy. With me, for example, I can find something that I THINK is perfect, make one small error and the whole thing is tarnished and ruined. Its exhausting.
@doodlethendie THIS.
I feel similar to her. Im of this thought, the few pages on the front back doesnt bother me at all. Its so thin and light. Since I am buying from Japan, I would like to see some Japanese culture and their arts. I think the real solution here is Hobonichi giving us the option of 68gsm and b6/a5 slim size, especially 68gsm. I love tomoe river paper but I hate see through on the back page.
Edit typo
Your video lighting is very bright, so I can’t see anything on the pages as you flip through, as it’s super washed out. It just looks like plain white pages. Any chance you can adjust your lighting in the future?
It gets dark early in the evening and I to use lighting. YT actually made it brighter it seems than it was when editing.
I know just what you mean about loving the weeks and its quirks-I’m used to it after so many years. I also like that it’s a hard cover and I can use it with the clear cover alone, which has a pen loop. The SI has all the pluses you mention-love the trackers and lack of quotes-but it needs a sturdier cover, and bookmarks (sorry) and some way to carry a pen.
I think the cover, which I didn’t spend much time talking about is the real issue. Just doesn’t feel sturdy enough to me.
Oh, I feel you Sam! I wasn't going to use a weeks next year. I purchased a different planner, some sticker kits, and a new leather cover... guess who brought a weeks on Hobonichi launch day, and is currently setting it up for 2024? I am now trying to sell off the planner and cover I thought I would be using. Old planner habits die hard, its the weeks and a common place book for me
I’ve been trying to tell myself that a bound book is what I really need…😅
Ahhhh Sam. I would have put a bet on my house that Stirling ink would have been your perfect planner!! I have bought myself a SI B6 half year version of the planner. I love it. It gives me the same area as cousin has without the bulk of carrying it around. Maybe you have your perfect planners already.
Oh recommendation for you and your love of gel pens. Look up Herbin pen. Its a rollerball pen you can fill with fountain pen ink. xx
Thank you! And I’m now kicking myself for not getting a B6…
I ordered SI Weeks, A6 and B6. Hands down love them way more than Hobonichi. Catherine knocked it out of the park this year. But….Hobo is an absolute favorite for so many. Thankful for so many options. It’s a love/hate thing too, having so many options. 😂
Yes to the 5 mm grid! I keep trying to make the Stalogy B6 or A6 work becuase of that. Of course, for some unknown reason, their A5 isn't a 5mm.
I know, that’s bizarre to me!
Love the colors of all the planners… I gravitate towards earth tones. Tfs!❤
I wish the weeks had the bright white paper like this!
Me too!
I bought the SI a5 full year compact from a friend. I prefer the hobo layout and paper.
I do like the SI more than hobo weeks. The design looks much more sophisticated than the hobo
The Hobo Weeks wouldn't be right for me even if I could afford it just to test. I don't care for quotes to begin with in my planners. The wasted bottom for the quote is an instant turn off for me. The back pages with the arms etc is also wasted space. Would rather those pages had been left blank.
I love your videos!!! Hopefully you get planner peace in 2024!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
I agree with you Sam! The quirkiness of Hobonichi is what keeps me coming back!
It’s perfectly imperfect.
Waah I'm so jealous! I ordered the mist vertical compact Weeks but with the gold edges, and those are scheduled to ship last. I'm constantly refreshing the SI website to see if they're shipping yet 😂
I hope by now you’ve gotten it!
@@samplans It's still in transit 😭😭😭😭
Have you seen the weeks planner from Creffective Paper sam? Its not tomoe river paper so you can use your fav pens
I was gonna say the same thing! Just saw Just Scribble’s unboxing ;-)
@@adriana.mattosthanks for watching!
I agree with you. I feel that writing in the weeks section it may appear as a running paragraph. I could add a line or darken the existing line but thats work that i dont want to put in!
Right!
My partner keeps asking why I'm not filming and posting my dud planners. I've changed so many times I can't keep up with myself. LOL So I appreciate you get it.
It can be dizzying!
I adore the Weeks and they keep improving it. Knowing that we all put washi over the quotes they'll probably change that too. I'm looking forward to trying the new paper x
Me too!
The SI print is just so light for me unfortunately.
It is lighter.
Sam you're honest its refreshing. Ty
Thank you!
I bought the SI passport weekly booklet for my purse to jot down appointments on the go. It comes in two thin booklets ( each for six months. Check them out.
Thanks!
Thank you for the flip through. I will be getting a SI common planner in the standard TN size. I'm also sporadic when it comes to journaling and hope to change that next year.
I've personally never owned a hobonichi weeks so I have no brand loyalty to them, but I've heard they're popular!
Although both are great planners. The hobo weeks is a classic. Many options to customize the layout etc. Si planner has its advantages as well. Either one can be a great choice, depending on personal preferences ❤
I’m going to stick with what I know. ☺️
Interesting review, thank you. It certainly addresses my compromises with the Weeks; however it looks like SI don’t have a supplier in the UK, so boo!
I much prefer the SI Common Planners over the Hobonichis - cleaner layouts with more functional space and grid on all the pages make me happy. And I love the upgrade to the covers for 2024 as well. Although I shared the Creffective Paper weekly planner this week and I adore it - and it’s not TRP so I actually thought it might be amazing for you. Can’t use all the covers on it but it’s like the Moleskine and Hobo Weeks had a baby. I’m excited for it and will be using it in 2024 for part of the year. But I love the SI planners and plan to incorporate something from her line as well.
I’m glad to hear you like them!
I’m still waiting for my order
Ugh. Hope you have it by now!
What do you think about how the Weeks isn’t forgiving about adding bulk? For instance, I’m not a huge sticker decorator but even adding a little sticker for holidays and special days, when I set the Closed Weeks down on the desk, the cover rests st a 45* angle and Is so frustrating. I watch you tube videos where they decorate the shit out of their cousins (as an example) and then close the planner and it closes! Otherwise I like the weeks I just want it to close. Thanks
Hmm. I feel like I’ve not had that experience. I also don’t use a ton of stickers, and my weeks stays in a cover and closed a lot. Maybe if yours is not kept closed in a cover it stays more open?
Thank you for reminding me that SI is not 5mm. Cause 5mm is my jam, as well.
It’s such a perfect size, IMO. I wish more producers used it!
I too ordered Sterling ink in weeks size and A6 size. I’m going to try the A6 in place of my day free, but I’m reluctant to let go of the weeks for the sterling ink. Not sure yet! I agree about the white edges.
I would love to see and hear about the planners that don’t work for you.
Same, I purchased an A5 & B6 and still haven’t received them and now I’m over it and firmly decided on going back to the Hobinichi.
The long preorder has turned me completely off from ever purchasing another Sterling sink product.
If you do decide to resell, I'd be interested in buying the A5. Everything Sam said just reminded me of why I DO prefer the Sterling Ink!
I feel the same.
It was a lonnnng time.
I'm still waiting! Doesn't look ill receive it in October....I won't even unbox it. I'll post it on the BST!!!
They said they would be shipping end of September thru October and they haven’t deviated from that. And they told us when they’d be shipping and emailed updates have been posting on IG and FB too. Given that she had a baby less than 2 weeks ago and was still working 100 hours a week to get items thru QC and shipped I’m giving her some grace.
Have you ever looked at the Paper Tess weekly planner? It’s supposed to be available October 27. I would love to see a comparison of it and a Hobo Weeks.
I don’t think I’ve seen that one. It’s hard to keep up though!
I bought the blue N2 as well. The thing is - it doesn't lay flat.. kind of a non-negotiable for me
I’ve been too scared to try to “break” the spine of my new SI planners, to make them lie flat. Have you by chance tried that yet? I’m still debating between a zillion planners and didn’t want to ruin one I might sell.
Yeah…
@@AuntieAlexandra Yeah, that’s how I found out that it doesn’t lay flat like the Hobo weeks. If you force it to lay flat it kinda will but only on the middle part. The pages closest to the front and back cover won’t.
Interesting. All my common planners and notebooks lay flat. Haven’t gotten my order yet to test these new ones.
@@JustScribble Waaah!! I’m subscribed to your channel as well! Can’t wait to see YOUR review of the N2!
I have that "paragraph" issue with the Moleskine pocket weekly. So annoying. Im using a Moleskine pocket daily next year to chuck in my bag (can catch my tasks etc on each day) and the trusty weeks for my main but stay home planner. Hopefully..... 😂 I want keen on the SI cover. I did look ay Papertess designs weekly but its almost too structured for me and again the cover issue.
I think papertess may be the one or creffective paper…maybe both seemed overly structured.
If you decide to sell it I’m interested. Just let me know which one. Thanks
Ugh I was on an extended camping trip when the preorders went out, and I missed out on the whole thing. I'm just over here waiting for people who have either the weeks size or the A5 to decide they don't want it. Which website is best for finding them, do you think?
Hi I’m interested in buying an A5 sterling ink full year. Does anyone know of any groups that I can check? Also, great video!
There is a buy sell trade group. But she’s also launching extras ready to ship first week of November.
@@JustScribble ohh that’s great. Thanks for letting me know!
I think the quotes on all the Hobo products are lame and a complete waste of space!
But I still use it 😂
Yes please share what did not work, you might save me money.
Right?! Maybe I’ll share some of my massive fail ideas. Sigh.
Seriously. Translating into English did NOT help, because I sort of just ... tuned out ... the Japanese, but now I feel like I have to read it.
@@joannemarkov 😂 great point!
