Hi Leslie. I’m very behind on my podcasts but you were my first one to start with. I always love what you have to share and I LOVE that you are sharing some of your followers projects too. That’s a fun addition to your shows. I’m off to watch your next one now. Hope all is going great for you in this new year. ❤
Leslie, you are such a dear soul. You always inspire! I have wanted to knit a My Favorite Things sweater pattern as well. I have an offhand design bag but a much smaller version. I have had it for years and years and I still love it. Thank you so much for sharing your knits, I always take notes. ❤️
As always, a lovely podcast! I thought of you last Friday as I flew into Pittsburgh to spend the weekend with my son. Love the Astor!!! Wishing you a beautiful and joyous 2023!🎉 🧶
I think I’m going to knit a hat! For myself. All of a sudden I don’t care about hat hair. Love your pink hat with cables. Need to learn how to knit cables. Everyone says they’re easy. Happy New Year!
I love watching your podcasts! You inspire me to try and knit a sweater. You mention on many of your podcasts that you like lion brand yarn. Have you ever knit a sweater with lion brand, what brand, were you happy with it and what sweater did you knit? Thank you! Look forward to seeing your next podcast!
Hi JoDee! YES! You can do it! If you can knit and purl then you can make a sweater! 💓 I did knit my daughter a sweater... It's called the Oatmeal Pullover www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oatmeal-pullover Good Place to start!!! Thanks for watching friend! And have fun knitting! 💜
Happy New Year! Thanks for sharing all your makes & also those of others. I am in love with the Emy and now will be adding that to my queue. 2023 the year to stop adding more sweaters to the queue 😂 we’ll see how that goes. Starting the year with Snowy Forest in a beautiful grey blue Bisches & Buches Le Gros silk & mohair.
I love to see what other people are working on! Right now my favourite project to pick up is the Garter Squish blanket, pattern by Stephen West. It's so scrummy and it's using up so much old stash.
Just found your podcast and I really like the things that you make, I live in England and usually only watch podcasts local to me but so glad I came across yours.
Lovely podcast Leslie, lovely to see you, happy new year. I enjoyed seeing the lineup what's on other friends needles, a wonderful lineup and so many wants on my part.We are in Summer here at the moment so not a lot of knitting going on but I have a Sophie Shawl by petite knits in the large size on the needles at the moment . Easy to knit, garter stitch and thick yarn. Loved your cardy you are wearing and think it could be a good one to knit and have in the wardrobe.
Thank you very much for the inspiration. I was looking for a cardigan to make. Yours is beautiful, love it ❤️. I am currently knitting my third no nonsense. I do this one with stripes. I wish you a wonderful new year to you and your family. Een goede dag van the Netherlands
Hi Leslie, my phone has translated the word “no frills” for no nonsense. crazy. that's why you couldn't find the sweater on Ravelry. I wish you a nice day. love Dolores
Sending you and your dear ones best wishes for this next go round. Always a pleasure to visit with you and thank you for sharing some patterns that I too will add to my growing to make list. The capelet is adorable - definitely looking forward to the pattern. The pale blue yarns are absolutely scrumptious, I actually salivate when I see colors that entrance me. The FO in that yarn will look terrific with your coloring. Happy knitting in Tahoe!
Always watch your podcast. I broke my left wrist almost exactly like you did and remembered your video about it. I have a plate and 5 screws. I cannot bend my fingers the way you did 😢. I begin physio next week and I hope it will help me. I miss my knitting, I am frustrated with the slow healing. I also have nerve pain/ damage from break and surgery……Thanks for sharing your experience.❤️🇨🇦❤️Connie Happy New Year Friend 🎉
Hi Connie! I'm so so sorry about your break. UGh. It really does stink! Be patient with your healing... my doc said it actually takes a full year to be fully healed. Do your exercises and get lots of rest. You will get there! Sending you lots of positive thoughts and healing juju! ❤️
I've seen a couple people with channels cast on the No Frills around Christmas. I just finished it for my sister in law. I used quince and Co Tern in the Syrah, she requested no mohair and it turned out great! It came out beautiful but it's hard to find that color anymore. For the pattern I was a little concerned about the size of the sleeves. I know it was supposed to be sweatshirt like but I wish I did a little more shaping for my S-I-L. My friend is working on the zweig with a black MC and speckled sprinkles colors white for the CC. It's looking great so far! I'm going to cast that on soon myself in almost a similar color to the picture. The bluish and burnt yellow. I loved seeing all the patterns, going to my ravelry page now to save a few! Thank you Friend!
Ohhhh nice, Ali! Did you hold the quince and co double? Sounds lovely! I'm making mine to fit a little closer. I was in between sizes I like to wear. Hope it fits! 🤪 Happy Knitting friend! 🧡
@@LeslieFriend No I held it single. We live in the south so less warmth is ok and the gauge was spot on. Good luck with yours! She has cat fur to add the halo affect lol.
Happy New Year!!!! Love the inspiration segment! I have flagged to make the Sunday Morning Wrap out of my hand spun yarn! Need to finish up the spinning/plying!
Oh, Yay! So glad you enjoyed that! I will definitely be sharing more. There is so much inspiration out there! The Sunday Morning Wrap with your hands-on will be lovely! Happy New year friend! 🧡
Happy New Year 🎊 Leslie! Always look forward to seeing you here and as always I’m inspired by your knits. I look forward to your caplet pattern & thanks for your new segment of others knits…some great ideas there too.
Hi Leslie, I loved the suggestions from other knitters and I now have more in my faves to knit. I cant knit right now because of rsi, Im totally torturing myself watching your podcast but I couldnt help myself and ejoyed it all. Happy knitting, I'll be catching up (in sensible measure) just as soon as my hands are ready.
Ooooooh! Sending you speedy healing thoughts friend! I am familiar with the torture of watching knitters and not being able to myself. So, I feel your pain! Happy New Year to you and yours! xx❤️
Happy New year, Leslie!! As a Canadian, seeing the Hudson Bay colours reminds me of our Hudson Bay department store colours and their famous wool blankets. I love all your pattern choices. Great to see other knitters' choices as well. Thanks for another great podcast to knit along with!
Happy New Year Leslie!🎉. Can’t wait for your wrap/poncho pattern. I saw this in the Francis Valentine catalogue. They embroidered flowers on it. I love it, but is way too expensive. Thank you also for the great suggestions of other knits. I especially loved the last one. So feminine!
Hi Stephanie! Yay! I promise to get the pattern written up soon! I'm working on it slowly but surely! 😍 Yes... The francis valentine one was so cute but tooooo expensive! Happy knitting friend! 🧡
Happy New Year Leslie. Enjoyed today so much. I so recall when Norah Gaughan was at Berocco and she designed some amazing pieces as well had booklets that went with the yarn… Loved. She and Carilia Rose had the most amazing designs. Then patterns were done in FRONT-backs etc., sewn together. Nuss was a favorite Noyaux was a. Dress I loved. So the cardigan you are wearing is fabulous. Those bags you have I did not catch the name…. Curious as those would hold lots. Thank you so much!
oh yes Cindy! I loved that time, too! And Norah Gaughan! I just went down a rabbit hole with the patterns you shared. I LOVE Noyaux as well! I might have to add that to my wardrobe! ☺️ The bag is an "Off Hand Designs" bag. I don't think she makes them anymore but maybe you could find one on Ebay. Happy New Year friend! ❤️
Oh the rabbit holes I have been down. Quite enjoyable. Yes those were fabulous designs she did - as well really helped me to learn to mattress stitch seams etc. her designs are timeless. Looking forward to your next installment have a happy new year🎉
Happy New Year, Leslie. As someone who generally only knits mostly colorwork sweaters, I have recently become obsessed with knitting the Watch Cap pattern. I've knitted over 20 so far in December and currently working on another one. All have been gifted and appreciated. Everyone had the option of adding a pompom and most did. Knitting the caps is a great way to blow through all of my single skeins of wool and I've used a variety of weights and needle sizes. I often hold yarns double so then I only have to cast on 100 stitches, which makes for a quick knit. Some people don't want the double brim so I cast on with smaller needles and then change to larger needles after 3 inches which makes for a really cute and snug hat.
@@10amTracy, casting on 100 stitches seems to be the perfect number for me. Almost all of the hats I made used 100 or less. Also, try starting off with a smaller needle for the band and a larger one for the head. I generally start with a #5 and then move up to #7 or 8. Ican usually make one in an evening.
@@flourchylde oh wow, that is so fast! Thanks-I’ll try using your numbers on my next one. I do love the pattern, I just need one to finally be the right size.
@@10amTracy, of course, the weight of yarn you use is key, but I would suggest starting with a #6 and moving up to #8 for the head. I just finished one holding fingering weight double and it fits everyone.
Happy new year Leslie 🥳 It was so lovely to see this episode pop up, loved the segment at the end yes definitely keep it going. I’m in such a dilemma about what to choose to knit, it’s a battle between what I like to knit versus what I like to wear. That’s a definite work in progress I am still not doing very well at, if I lived closer I’d come and raid your wardrobe …. that would solve it 🥰🤣🤣😘
Haha Karen! I would let you! We could share knits! And yes... I am finally figuring out what I will actually wear. I feel that my knits are less exciting but I don't want to make anymore sweaters that just take up shelf space and don't get their time to shine! :) HNY friend! xx

Happy New Year Leslie! Your icy blue No Frills is going to be luscious! I also have not knit that pattern yet. I am currently working on my second October Sweater by Petite Knit and I am using a navy yarn from Hillesvag. I love this yarn and sweater pattern. As always, your makes are inspirational; I love knitting as I watch you. From your friend in Tokyo, Jacqueline.
Hi Jacqueline! Thank you so much for watching all the way in Tokyo! 😍 I must look up the October Sweater! I'm sure I will need to add it to my queue. 😊 Happy New Year friend! 💜
I second the request for the bag designer’s name. Atenti makes a doctor’s bag style as well as many others. I own four of them in different sizes and prints. They are wonderful.
Oh great for everyone to know! The bags I own are “Off Hand Design” bags but I don’t think she makes them anymore. Maybe on eBay someone is selling them? I do adore the style! Happy new year friend! ❤️
Hi Melanie! That is an offhand design bag. I think they are out of business but maybe can still be found floating around out there. Happy Knitting sweet friend! xx
Happy New Year to you and your family! As always, a pleasure to watch and new patterns added to my queue! I love the golf club covers. I'm interested to see the pattern...I knit some for my hubby and he wore through them...now he may get a second chance.🤣-Kate

Happy New Year to you and yours..after a busy Chtistmas I am so looking forward to some knitting time and as always you have given me lots of knitting ideas to choose from..you never disappoint..looking forward to 2023,..thank you for being my friend to knit with..
I have a similar "carpet bag" and use it every single week for the past 10 plus years. It is a beautiful and extremely well made bag and a pity that Offhand Designs no longer makes them. I wrote an article about this bag and others for Yarn Market News years ago and discovered this beauty in my research.
I always love watching your podcast! You certainly do inspire me with your projects and your list of projects others are working on. I thinks that’s a great idea to share these pics and ideas. Did you use one skein of the Western Sky yarn for each hat? And I can’t wait to see your pattern for the new accessory! Thanks, Leslie, for your sweet spirit and love of knitting❤️
Hi Diane! Oh yay! I'm so glad you liked that! I will definitely be sharing more! YES! One skein of WSY for each hat. I had a little bit left for each hat. Cast on 140 using US 4. Happy New Year! ❤️
It’s always such a beautiful surprise when another podcast appears! Happy New Year to you and your family. You inspire me to reach new levels in my knitting, thank you very much for your inspirations,,,your friend in knitting Nancy
Jimmy Beans Wool and/or DellaQ has a Satchel ala Dr.’s bag. I have 1 in eggplant color, want second one in mustard color. I don’t think they’re as large as yours, tho. You can also get 2 “cubbies” that fit into bottom of bag, or use elsewhere (they come flat). I absolutely adore mine & want more! You always inspire!!! 2023 will be my year for socks-different heels, toes, direction (cuff-down-er now, want to try toe-up!). Joined Farmers Daughter Fiber’s Sock Squad, so… a pair of socks per month is doable, right? Thanks for sharing, good to see you!
Always fun to see you and what you are going to knit. I checked Stix for the yarn you made your son’s Watch Cap out of and they didn’t have any…darn! Happy New Year Leslie!

Great podcast. Would love to see more of what everybody’s making….
Yay! Thanks Linda. So glad you like the sharing. Ill be sure to share more! HNY! 💚
Love your podcast, happy new year!
Thank yo Charrisse! And thanks so much for watching! Happy knitting friend!💜
The Mary Poppins bag is truly great. Who had made them? That would be a good find
Hi Melanie! That is an offhand design bag. I think they are out of business but maybe can still be found floating around out there. Happy Knitting sweet friend! xx
Happy New Year, Leslie :) Great video!
Thank you sweet Katharine! HNY!💚

Happy New Year to you and your family! As always, a pleasure to watch and new patterns added to my queue! I love the golf club covers. I'm interested to see the pattern...I knit some for my hubby and he wore through them...now he may get a second chance.🤣-Kate

Awe. SO sweet! Thanks for your kind words, Jane! HNY!💜
I have a similar "carpet bag" and use it every single week for the past 10 plus years. It is a beautiful and extremely well made bag and a pity that Offhand Designs no longer makes them. I wrote an article about this bag and others for Yarn Market News years ago and discovered this beauty in my research.
Oooooh! Right? I actually messaged Larisa at Off Hand Designs to ask her about them. Hopefully I will get a reply. HNY friend! ❤️
Love the format of your podcast 😊
Awe! Thank you Mandy! Happy New Year! 💜

Yay! Thanks for the info! And yes! A pair a month is an awesome goal!🤍🎊happy new year friend! 🤍
Always fun to see you and what you are going to knit. I checked Stix for the yarn you made your son’s Watch Cap out of and they didn’t have any…darn! Happy New Year Leslie!
