Lotte Reiniger beat Disney on two things: 1) She made the first (surviving) full length animated film in 1926. 2) She invented the multi plane camera 14 years before Disney took credit for it. Her films are timeless and simply amazing
Actually, I think the first stepsister cut off her big toe and the second stepsister cut off her heel. That's how they tried to make their feet fit in the tiny shoe.
Interestingly, she actually didn’t base it the original version. She based the Brother’s Grimm version, which makes sense because she was German. The Disney movie is biased on the Charles Perrault (French) version of Cinderella. Versions of Cinderella have been told all over the world for far longer than either the versions recorded by the Brother’s Grimm or Charles Perrault. It was an oral tale, so it’s impossible to say what the ‘original’ version actually was. If you are interested in learning more about early and different visions of Cinderella, Jen Campbell has a good video on it called ‘The History of Cinderella | Fairy Tales with Jen’ Edit: Also, I forgot to say but the Charles Perrault version of Cinderella predates the Grimm version by 119. This means that the Disney Cinderella was based on an earlier version of the story. However, that doesn’t make one version better than the other and I adore this shadow puppet version.
Just imagine this fact: if slow motion and 2d animation require a lot of time of making, Just try to figure how long could take this kind of animation and more if you considere the decade they were made. Cinema should do a huge homage to Lotte Reiniger. Her art showed the creativity in a incredible level.
@@daniellakaran5760 Probably because it wasn't really necessary. He could still convey the sisters' desperation without them performing anything gruesome.
This is still a million times better and more entertaining than the 2021 Cinderella with Camila Cabello lol, and this is almost 100 years old 😂❤

It's not exactly the same method Iwerks created for his or Disney's films.
Use to watch these in the 1950's? on BBC tv. Enjoyed them then and still do. Thanks TH-cam!

Oh Lotte actually retold the ORIGINAL Cinderella story where the stepsisters cut their toes to fit the shoe.

12:31 How did the evil stepmother die? Her death was really weird
That's what I was thinking. She just straight up split in half!
I dont think she died, maybe she just was very mad and sad
@@lagrad4987 Well, that is true. Maybe that was the artist's depiction of her just breaking down in anguish.
It could've been like those cartoon ripping in halves like what SpongeBob did sometimes (I. E. the essay episode)
her tits exploded and she was torn apart

Walt Disney would've loved it! Go HUG someone today IF they're been vaccinated or not 🚫 Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!
Walt would NEVER tell the story like that!
Yeah Walt didn't even tell the actual Cinderella story where the stepsisters cut their toes to fit the shoe.
