as a modern 14 year old kid, i would just like to say our generation is going to be FUCKED if this ever happens. learning about the great depression is so interesting and I’ve never been more excited and engrossed in learning. Actually, I’ve never even been excited to learn, let alone engrossed in the lecture. But something about the Great Depression is seriously so intriguing. I would love to sit down with one of these people and just hear stories upon stories.

Funny, not too different from the early 60s in South Dakota. My grandparents talked about The Depression all the time. I got my great-grandma's treadle sewing machine, which was cabinet style. Stuff full of remnants of coveralls and such, for mending. My great-aunt said the cows were eating cockleburs. There was almost no water in the well.

In my family's experience we WERE quite alright, not lacking because we produced, and hence HAD money. Our experience would have been much the same as the guy in the grey shirt near the end was saying. Being a farmer with your own farm was the way to go. But we didn't face the droughts farmers in the USA faced during the depression.

Well, I remember what it was like in the depression. I was a child but I remember how everthing was kinda sad back then. We didn't have much and daddy tried to find work but it was hard. But mama told us if we kept our heads up and looked for a brighter day it would come and you know something? It did. It weren't long before Franklin D. Roosevelt decided to help his people fight the depression. Even though he was rich and it didn't bother him he was willing to help Americans. So then he declared war on the Notsy system and made friends with Joe Stalin. Joe Stalin hated the Notsies too and so did Winston Churchill and so then daddy got him a job in the bomb plant helping to make bombs to drop on them Notsy childern. Then Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Joe Stalin made the world safe for Jews and Israel by killin all the Notsies and that's why everthang is so good today. I lived through all this so I should no.

None of these people really had it that bad, because many had land that produced enough and had some kind of money. Today few could afford land enough to stay alive and the Government wants the farmers to head to the cities, so that time was better situated for a depression, less reliant on government. I like to hear those who had it not so good like regular common folk of the day.
