Interesting comment about the nice construction on the school in the rich neighborhood. Reminds me of a little story: in fall 2013 I did a solo 5 day bike tour in southern Taiwan. It was amazing. Many people were renting a room in their home for $15-$20 including breakfast, so you could just stop when you were tired and find a place to stay, at least in the off season. I remember one day I was riding through a pretty rural area and came upon a big and really nice building. I wondered what it was as it didn't make sense to me in this relatively poor area. I asked a local about it, and she said "that's the elementary school". I was shocked as it didn't fit at all with my American sense of things. I quickly learned that when you came upon a really nice building in an average town, there was a good chance it was the school. They really emphasize kids and education there. By the way, I highly recommend Taiwan for a bike tour. It is super bike friendly. Police stations have air and water, and drivers often yell encouragement when they drive by (shocking!) -- 加油!(maybe your wife can read this... means something like "keep at it!" in Chinese). There is a lot of Japanese culture there for historical reasons and a very friendly attitude toward Japanese and all foreigners. Highly recommend googling bike tours in southern Taiwan (it looks like Hawaii) and watching some TH-cam videos of the same. A good city to start in is Hualien. In those days, you could rent a bike at a Giant store in one city, and return it in another city, just like rental cars in the US.
👩🏼🦲Hi Don. The addition of bike lanes has improved riding around New York. I hope they continue to keep adding and improving them. It really makes riding fun knowing a car is not coming behind you all the time.
@@BromptonFamilyTime I use to ride a Gary Fisher mountain bike and a Giant roadbike which meant I never could go indoors for more than 2 minutes. Those Kryptonite locks might deter or delay theives but they'll take anything, a wheel, a seat post or basically anything unattached to the chain. A Brompton means I could've had a decent meal when riding.
I love the videos where you tour us around Manhattan and Long Island. I have not been there since 1978 when I was 16 years old. What a great family what a great channel
15:25. Good answer Tan Tan! Stingy Dad: only one ride kid, which one? Tan Tan: I wanna ride ‘em ALL!!! Lovely video guys! A Family that Brommies together, Stays together! Cheers!
Tan Tan is so clever, I like his idea of using a cup for ice cream spills. I'll do that too next time I go for ice cream, they melt so fast in the heat!
Really enjoyed this ride thank you! The cost of gas made me smile, it works out about 78c per litre. In the UK it is the equivalent of $2.40 a litre or $9.12 a gallon!
👩🏻Yes, I recently learned that other countries have much much higher gas prices compare to the US!!! 😨However we are still complaining about the gas price here! 😳 I can not imagine paying $9 a gallon...😱
@@BromptonFamilyTime Love your videos and your family! 💜 I just got a cruiser and wished I got the Brompton instead. Still trying to work up the confidence to ride on NYC roads.
Cruisers are nice too. I think the Brompton is a great compliment bike to any other style of bike out there. Riding in NYC takes a lot of energy to constantly look out for cars, other riders, pedestrians and wrong way riders. I enjoy it though.
👩🏻 Long Beach Train Station located only 5 to 10 minutes away by bike from the boardwalk. Yup, i agree on having a map. So we started adding a map and locations that we stop for our riding videos. Please check our latest ride videos! 😊✌️
@@BromptonFamilyTime that's so cool! I had no idea you were quite that close. I thought you lived further away. I plan to visit your region hopefully in the near future if not this year so I watch your videos with interest
I live on Long Island and was wondering if NYC is the only place we can go for service on a Brompton? I have seen on your channel you go to Brompton Junction but that is a hike if I have an issue with my bike. Appreciate a reply.
I bought my berry colored Brompton from The Bicycle Planet (now called Jen's Cycles) in Syosset. They were an authorised dealer, but I am not sure now that they have a new name. Please call them and hopefully they are still. Also, REI is also a Brompton dealer. I have seen a few red models in the Garden City REI recently. REI also has sales on them too!
As a Health and Safety consultant, I would like to point out that wearing a cycling helmet without the chin straps done up correctly to hold the helmet firmly on your head is a waste of time wearing that expensive helmet. It’s not going to provide any safety in the event of an incident.

Thanks for watching!
Nice to see a family out on their brompton bikes.
This is my first tour of Long Island. It's nice to get out of the city. Thank you.
People dont know how big and diverse new york is. Wish I had a Brompton when I was living in NYC

I'm always shocked by the prices lol!
Yes. I see that. It’s good you include in your videos. Now I will brace for the same… 😖
What a beautiful ride : thank you to sharing with us. I am not travelling BUT, with you, I AM. It is good to follow you ❤️
I'm only here for the food :) Nice ride.
Thank you 😋

11:12 do you park your bromptons like that or you fold up before dining?
We folded and put our Brompton in between the wall and the our table!

Did you sort the saddle on the t line ?

Thanks for another great vid Brompton Family! I was wondering what brand & model of goggle/glasses BFT dad wears?
👩🏻Hi. the glasses are from Ombraz. They are armless and comfortable. 👍
oh...the model is Dolomite!
Thanks for the info - I'll Google them. Look forward to your next Brompton Family adventures!

What did u do with the problems you had on the gray Brompton

@6:44, what is that bike computer you guys use ? Do you recommend it ?
That is an old Cateye wireless computer. It worked well until Shoko crashed and broke it lol. It's told me the MPH and had the time. That's it.
Did you guys ride your bikes the whole way in? How many miles was it?
👩🏻It was about 14 miles total! It went by quick!

👩🏼🦲Your right! As soon as I start riding the strap loosens so we sewed it so it shouldn't move any more.
