Chariots of fire, film was one of the best. But when you learn the true story of both men it goes beyond the movie.
As a Christian Eric life was inspiring to me. We live in this world such a short time and when we take aim of heaven we don’t look back.
We know who we Serve and to Him we belong.
His Love for Us is so Awesome and His Grace never ending .
Eric truly loved the Lord Jesus Amen

Tremendous story of a truly surrendered life! Eric Liddell is my missionary hero!!!! I love the statement that there were not two Eric Liddells....he was the same in private as in public; and wholly lived for the glory of God!!! Well worth watching!!!

Thank you so much for putting this video together! I first saw the movie Chariots of Fire as a young Christian a couple of years out of university. Eric's life challenged me then and continues to challenge me to serve Jesus, to be genuine, and to seek to lay all on the altar of surrender to the LORD. Thanks again!

Thank you for such an inspiring movie and enlightening video.
The human tendency to honour a man more than his God is all too universal.
The real praise and glory goes less to Eric Liddell or his religion, but to his Creator, the LORD God Almighty and his Saviour, the Lord Christ Jesus the Messiah.
Eric saw himself first as a follower of Christ than as a Scotsman.
God developed Eric's conviction to put God before his king and country, with considerable courage.
His was less of a religion but more of a personal relationship with a living God, where he chose to please God and not men.
This was evident in his resisting pressure to run the 100-metre Olympic final on Sabbath, but was found preaching in a house of God instead.
Eric probably took the biblical verse, 1 Corinthians 9:24 to heart, i.e. "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize". Though the run of his life ended at a relatively young age of 44 years, Eric Liddell deserves to attain the prize of eternal life with God in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy.
He lives on as an inspiration of how successive generations of Christ's followers can glorify God in sports and in missionary work, or whatever station in life that God has called them to.
Even the inspiration for the movie title, "Chariots of Fire", purportedly from the lyrics of a choir song about Jerusalem, was ultimately inspired by a biblical verse (2 Kings 6:17)
So the real inspiration is God Himself, for without Him, there would be no Eric Liddell and none of his life story to inspire the movie.
Glory to God in Christ Jesus, in the highest!

I love the Lord with all my heart but I will say with all conviction that I think it was a disgustingly cruel practice for missionaries to have children and then leave them in boarding school for years. I say that with experience as the grand child of missionaries having seen the devastation in my parents generation. If you’re going to be missionaries don’t have kids if it means leaving them in boarding school! Praise God you save myriads of foreigners yet sacrifice your own children. What in the world is the point of having children to abandon them? I do not believe it is God’s will at all. Of course I know that God takes what satan intends for evil and can work good out of it. Nevertheless it is not God’s will to so abandon your children.

The Word missionary means one sent, a person who goes and stays is a squatter not a missionary. The Word missionary is not a biblical term, the Bible speaks of an Apostle who is one sent. God sends them to go teach and then return home, like the apostles Paul and John.

    • @christianrpgserieschannel8770
      @christianrpgserieschannel8770 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

While I understand how you feel, the Lord did say we must give up all we have to serve him. Look at Abraham and how he almost sacrificed Isaac because God asked him to only to find out it was just a test. Look at the apostles and how they left all they knew and their families to follow Jesus. There's a reason why Jesus refered to Heaven as a 'Pearl of Great Price' in his parables because it literally IS. I know this from my own personal experience and from the Bible itself. When you choose to follow Jesus, you are going to lose family and friends no matter who they are. I can't speak for all of the missionaries, but I'm sure there were many who didn't want to leave their children, but had to because it was too dangerous for the children to go with them or because they had to to pursue what God was calling them to do.

Some of the greatest missionaries came from America. These missionaries give their lives for Jesus and when those foreigners saw that, they knew that there was something about Jesus. These American missionaries are the reason why most Chinese and most Africans will rather die than to deny Jesus.
    BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO AMERICA?

Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ he is coming again to judge the whole world according to their deeds. The Bible says “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” He which testifieth these thing is Jesus Christ which died and rose again from the grave saying himself that he is coming quickly how much should we then believe his word for he cannot lie. God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh that he can die for our sins. The Bible says “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Get right with Christ because he coming back quickly and we don’t know when he is coming back. The Bible says,”But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.” Mat 25:13¶Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Again Jesus Christ said it again and shall he not keep what he says. Jesus even told us what to do he said to watch. We have to be prepared and turn away from our sins and come to the Jesus Christ. Tell me, what shall you say when the creator of the whole universe judge you when you have rejected Jesus Christ who dies for your sins and gave you a way to escape this judgment to condemnation. For it is written in the Bible, “2Co 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” Therefore, since we have to be judge by God let us be prepared for his second and do his will and enter into Heaven to be with Christ Jesus forever and ever. No more to die and have pain of this world. If we believe in Jesus Christ and Do his father’s will we shall enter into Heaven. There is a resurrection of the good and there is a resurrection of the evil. Which one will you be a part of? It is written Mat 25:46
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

    • @ChivalrousVeteran
      @ChivalrousVeteran 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@hoonamsumrall2819 umm, no, a simple historical read will reveal that we are to remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy as the day that God rested; now there is a lot of things we cannot wrap our tiny minds around: such as the evening and the morning were the first day? Umm, and, Jonah was three days and three nights in the fish's belly, as Jesus prophesied he would also be three days and three nights ... that gets really difficult to understand; as Jesus was buried on Friday, remained in the ground on Saturday, and arose on Sunday. Hmm, now how is that three; ehhh, some things about God may always be a mystery!! Isaiah 55;8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways." Yes Sir!!! : - )
But; these things we know for certain : they must needs remove the bodies from the crosses, because it was coming the Sabbath, and this Sabbath was especially holy to the Jews! [John 18;28 and 19;14 and 19;31].
We know that it was the Passover; celebrated by the Jews on modern Saturday; that tells us that Jesus Christ was crucified on modern Friday and He then arose on modern Sunday ... this tells us that :
      - Remember the day that The Lord rested [ Saturday ] to keep it holy!
These simple things are what have lead me to respect my authorities and elders and not to forsake the assembling of the Saints; but, to also refrain myself from following popular religious traditions: whenever they clearly conflict with God's Holy Word. Many people will reject God's Word and hold to traditions; when they ought to reject traditions and hold to God's Word.
Also; please read the ten commandments of God : because it will keep you from lies and deceptions : it says specifically man is to work six days and rest on the Sabbath day; as The Lord God made the heavens and the earth and everything in them in six literal days and then rested on the seventh day. So, if, man is supposed to work for 60 billion years and then rest once after that ... you will *never* live long enough to have a single day of rest on the Sabbath!!!!
Read the ten commandments; it literally states plain and clear that evolution is false; God created everything in six literal days, some how measuring a day from the evening and the morning: now I'm confused!! But, we do *know* that God Himself makes it emphatically clear that He made all of creation in just six literal days; because no one is going to live for 60 billion years and then get one Sabbath day off : the commandment says : Exodus 20;8-11 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God (do's and don'ts) For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." You see, no room for any arguments; it is literally impossible to work for 60 billion years! Evolution is false; if, you believe God's Holy Word.
So, you see; for me personally it comes down to this one principal: God Himself commanded me to observe the Sabbath day; no matter what any man or religion says: God established the Sabbath Himself. And through the life of Christ Jesus we *know* that He rested in the ground on the Passover Sabbath that the Jews were observing when they petitioned to have all bodies taken down and buried before sundown that day - modern Friday evening, just before sundown became modern Saturday.
What we know historically is: that the Jews celebrated Passover from the evening to the next day. It is said historically that Jesus suffered at the same exact time that the Passover lambs were being prepared; at the same moment that those lambs were being put to death in preparations for the Sabbath Passover that evening; Christ Jesus suffered and died also.
So historically there is no doubt at all : Jesus Christ was buried in the borrowed tomb just before the Sabbath Passover, and therefore The Lord God rested on that specific day : [modern Saturday]. That is what the Holy Scriptures point out to us; and what most modern scholars believe, those properly educated in the Sound Doctrines of God's Holy Word. Most of the time to get a clear mental "picture" and understanding of something in the Holy Scriptures; you *need* to understand from Genesis to Revelation all that God has revealed about a specific topic of interest. If you do not understand in whole; you can easily get something out of its proper context and meaning. Also, do not look to other sources of information; because man's heart is deceitful above all else, only what is inspired by God can truly be trusted and has stood the tests of time.
