You are the first person to fully get it that I have found on yt. Most keep it consumerism driven but you show the trauma of inauthenticity. Trauma is not being seen or known and unable to self validate. I know this because I have lived this quiet desperation and still do. You just validated that concept for me. Thanks man.

I think you missed a thing regarding the music and his monologues about them. He always makes a big show about his interpretation but his interpretation is almost entirely wrong. He doesn't connect with the music at all. He also doesn't have a taste in music that is special. He prefers hits that are massively successful and popular. He doesn't get the meaning of those songs at all. It's just part of his sharade. Patrick doesn't try to hide whats inside. He doesn'tr try to connect with a softer side. It's like he says in the beginning. There is nothing there. He kills for two reasons in the movie. When he was humiliated, like with Paul Allen, who is more successful or with his university crush, who is in a relationship with the Chef of Dorsia. (Mentioned in the movie only.) The others are prostitute or the homeless people, that he kills because he feels superior and enjoys the domination.
Really? I totally think some of his interpretations of the music are spot on. They're actually super deep and layered. Not sure how you don't see it, but to each his own.
@@brieschdude You may be right but I think what OP means it that even though he describes the way the music sounds and feels in a deep and thoughtful manner etc, I wouldn't be surprised if he just stole that opinion of something he read in the paper of a critic, overheard somebody else talk about it or just made it up in order to seem intelligent and and knowledgeable about music. this is a common characteristic with narcissists . I do feel like he is not truly connecting with the music and its just as superficial as his own life. But yes your theory about him really trying to connect with music could also be his only thing in life that is real and some sort of escape from his own life
