Hey Matata! This is a dope song! I'm a 7th Grade Science teacher in Massachusetts (USA), still teaching 100% remotely due to coronavirus. I've been giving my students a tour of modern African music, one country each day. I play the music in the background for the first few minutes while they do an opening task to get them ready for the lesson. This song is my choice from Kenya. The video is really funny, and looks like it was a lot of fun to make. Y'all are fantastic dancers too. My students LOVED it! Thanks for making it!

I was curious as to all the Scandinavian names in their video credits and the very white backup band in their 18 minute benefit video, so that's how I found out they met in Norway. Very cool. I haven't listened to more STL yet, but I will, thanks.
You should also check out Sauti Sol. I was born and raised in Kenya but now living in the US, and it is one of the bands/groups that help me feel connected to my home country. It's wonderful you're exposing your students to different cultures. 👏👏👏
@@shirlene.m404 - One of the 7 "Community Commitments" at our school (like responsibility, perseverance, etc.) is "Cultural Sensitivity", so this dovetails very nicely with our expectations of our students. We also have a diverse school - I have students with family from Somalia and Ghana who are suggesting songs, and the song from Sudan was suggested to me by a colleague who hails from there. Thanks for the tip on Sauti Sol - I'll check it out.
