It looks way more enjoyable after foregoing the budget. Out of curiosity though, are you still keeping track? I'd be interested in the current budget. Keep up the great videos.
8:59 Googled what that thing says. The inscription reads, "This drive and tower are dedicated by the Commissioners of the Palisades Interstate Park to the memory of George Walbridge Perkins Their first president 1900-1920, whose broad vision and tireless energy made possible the preservation of the Palisades and the establishment of this great playground for humanity.1934"
You need to go to the Catskills and the Adirondacks. The AT through New York unfortunately is far inferior to these forever wild preserved parks a little north and much higher. The smell of the Balsams at around 3500 feet in the Catskills is wonderful. The High Peaks region of the Adirondacks is incredible especially during fall foliage.
Maybe the AT was laid out by a retired drill sergeant. It would have been very funny if the turkey chaser ran into a flock. They can be aggressive and their bite hurts. I bet those delis wrecked your budget. NY and CT are very expensive. Kool to do the CT challenge. Good video. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Nice to see you back on trail. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated. Cheers to your stamina. Wishing you safe passage, peace, and good fortune. Happy Trails!
The Appalachian Market is one of my fave stops in the NY portion of the AT. Yeah, buddy: order the quesadilla and get some hot sauce, get the chicken cutlet sandwich, restock your food bag, grab a six pack of beer, then hit the picnic tables to chow down. Then hike to the monastery and camp out on their baseball field and use the showers.
I’ve seen people take their dogs on the AT for the whole distance . Any idea how they deal with that rebar ladder and steep rock faces with a medium size dog? Seems crazy .
I did the NJ section with my miniature poodle back in the 80s. My dog pretty much handled it on her own, she would often blaze her own trail around such things but occasionally I would carry her but she was a small dog.
As someone who works in garrison and knows that deli, they take ridiculous advantage of hikers, being the only deli in the area and stopping point for restock.
Thinking of your comment from the 7-11 mark to 7-14. Have you considered the amount of steps you have taken ( going back for the camera ) from all your filming on the AT ( All trips into consideration ) ? I bet you easily qualify for a 1/4 to 1/3 south bound hiker.
How do you even get to see anything when you’re doing 30-40 mile days? The whole idea of hiking the AT is interesting, but I’m not sure I would enjoy having to blast through everything.
Much of NY looks like it could be in Vermont. NYC is a tiny part of the state. For some reason people think NYC is what all of NY looks like it feels like. NY hands down has the best food and it’s not even close.
Lol lauging no sense to trail? Same thoughts who the f did this trail did pct azt ct parts of cdt prior to at hated at trail construction made no sense mucho of the time.
"On only deli food". This is amazing and wildly appropriate for NY. I LOVE this. 😊

Thank you for all the extra steps (literally!) that you take to show us everything! Happy Trails❤
Godspeed Quadzilla on the rest of the NOBO. The quality of the videos have been great of late. Still going to SOBO?
I see on IG that you have finished the AT AND did the northern LT too. Nice work! I can’t wait to see more content.

2:45 Hiking the AT with side trips to NYC and Niagara Falls - love it!

Keep it up Quadzilla!
Bear Mountain is especially beautiful during Fall 🍂🍁😊 NY nature is underrated indeed!
I think he has been done with the AT for a long time. He missed the foliage I am pretty sure.

I missed a couple of episodes: did you give up the 1000 dollars challenge?
Did you go away from the $1,000 thru hike?
You shoes looks so oversized!..more than usual :) Great for keeping you toes protected i guess :) Awesome video! Thanks from sweden
As I recall, he got them free from a trail angel. And he hasn't complained about blisters with them, so I guess it's working. :)

too much music man. compromises the authenticity of the vlog. i enjoyed the natural sounds of your environment good or bad.
Music is simply over production with these videos. It's kind of a buzz kill ☹️
nazi goreng 😂
