Everyone in the comments saying that's low, come here in Italy and you will not be able to safe 100€ in a month because of taxes, food and most importantly bills. Even if you don't go anywhere or buy anything you'll not be able to live but just survive... Those taxes, if they are real, are so cheap. 90€ for food in a entire month??? 18€ for Gas and 27€ for Petrol??? OMG I hope I misunderstood, because if it's real is so good!
For some reason you came up on my feed so I gave you a watch. It was an interesting insight to how things are nowadays for dispatch workers. I’ve been an English teacher here for 18 years. When I came the starting salary was 250,000 and we didn’t have to pay into the pension scheme etc. It was okay but I can’t imagine dealing with that pay now with how much things are costing. I managed to get out of dispatch life and earn much more nowadays. Good luck but don’t settle for dispatch if you can find a way out you should take it
Thank you Daniel! I’ve been trying to get out of the dispatch world for years but it’s hard :( So I make use of my extra time to earn more and have some work life balance like make TH-cam videos. Thanks for watching and your advice! Hope you’re doing well 🌸

Unfortunately an oversupply of third world English teachers really has caused a low wage economy. When I was working the standard 40 hour week in Tokyo in 1991 for NOVA, my wages were 350k a month. Same when I went back on JET in 1997 with free accommodation.
“Those third world” teachers are probably more qualified and have more grace than you. Everyone deserves equal pay and opportunities despite their background! I hope you’re not walking around the world spreading negativity-
Nice video, I am surprised that is how much to receive now in Japan as ALT, doors are still open in Taiwan as Foreign English Teacher, try to consider Taiwan, the salary is way better that what Japan offers.
Thank you, Ms. Julie. I would like to ask if it is necessary to learn a lot of Japanese words before working in Japan. or they will let you teach without having skill in speaking Japanese.
Your rent is definitely super low for Tokyo. I hope it's a nice place. Your food bills also seem really cheap, especially these days where fruit, vegetables....pretty much everything is so expensive. Since you've been in Japan a few years, you'll be paying residential tax too, draining even more from your tight budget. The fact you didn't get paid for spring break is crazy. It's a one year contract, and since you don't suddenly stop eating, using utilities, having to pay rent etc for that month, it's shocking they don't pay. The company gets a year's worth from the school, but they pocket so much-brutal.
My rent is really cheap. I got lucky. I always try to stay within my budget esp with food but. I’m also so lucky I am exempted with residence tax. For the past four years here, I’ve only paid 5,000¥. I also have tax refunds. I do part time gigs for extra income because working as an ALT isn’t enough. There’s also lots of free time for extra work.
@@julieinjapan_ OMG, how do you get away with not paying residential tax? My residential taxes are a major burden. Is there some documents you submitted?

@julieinjapan_ I blame my phone pred text. But seriously can fillipino teach in Japan? I live in China and fillipino really struggle and can't get a teaching permit or work visa.
I'm curious about this. As far as I know in most countries you need to be from one of 7 Countries where English is the Mother tongue. USA, Canada, England, South Africa, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia. Unless you have atleast a Bachelors of education or literature related degree from one of those foreign countries if you're not a native.
