Rhoda is an American television sitcom created by James L. Brooks and Allan Burns starring Valerie Harper that originally aired on CBS for five seasons from September 9, 1974 to December 9, 1978. The first spin-off of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Harper reprised her role as Rhoda Morgenstern, a spunky and flamboyantly fashioned young woman seen as unconventional by the standards of her Jewish family from New York City.
Rhoda begins as the character decides to return to New York City from Minneapolis, where she soon meets and marries Joe Gerard (David Groh). The series' third season chronicled the characters' separation and Rhoda's later seasons revolved mainly around the character's misadventures as a single divorcée. Main co-stars included Julie Kavner as Rhoda's sister Brenda alongside Nancy Walker as their mother Ida Morgenstern, respectively. Other co-stars throughout the series included Lorenzo Music as Rhoda and Brenda's scarcely seen doorman Carlton, Harold Gould as their father Martin Morgenstern, Ron Silver as their neighbor Gary Levy, Ray Buktenica as Brenda's boyfriend and later fiancé Benny Goodwin, and Kenneth McMillan as Rhoda's boss Jack Doyle.
A large ratings success during its first two seasons, Rhoda's viewership suffered following the creative decision to dissolve the marriage of Rhoda and Joe as series creators Brooks and Burns believed that the title character had lost her "edge" as a married woman. The series' later seasons failed to recapture the commercial success it had initially enjoyed and CBS ultimately cancelled Rhoda midway through its fifth season in 1978, leaving several unaired episodes that later appeared in syndication. Rhoda was the recipient of two Golden Globe Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards, and was filmed Friday evenings in front of a live studio audience at CBS Studio Center, Stage 14 in Studio City, Los Angeles, California.

Been watching "RHODA" this weekend . All the back to back episodes were being aired on cable on the DECADES Channel. They brought back so many happy memories. It so hard to believe the only cast member still alive is Julie Kavner that played BRENDA. EVER SINCE "THE SIMPSON'S " aired she's been the voice of Marge Simpson. It's like "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". They're all gone too. What a joy all these people were. They gave us so much fun and laughs. I really do miss them....

I’m sitting here watching the Rhoda marathon and thought about checking on who’s doing what and all I see is almost everyone is dead and one has died of the same kind of cancer I’ve had, now I’m depressed and crying seems like everyone from my youth that I love watching are now gone and the ones that are still around are older then dirt, it’s just heart breaking, all the good one’s are gone.

It's amazing how many of them died from cancer. How very sad. Rhoda morgenstern's boss was not correctly identified as when he was born and when he died or else his ages were incorrect. I was waiting to see you cover Lorenzo Music, The Door Man. His voice was quite famous although we never saw his face. He did the voice of Garfield the cat. He just died recently; within the last year or so. I was also waiting for you to cover the gentleman who played Nick Lobo and also the gentleman who played his Vegas friend Johnny Venture. I believe "Johnny Venture" is alive and still actually singing professionally. One of my favorite episodes was I believe in season 3 or 4 when Johnny venture made his debut and he and the character Nick Lobo with his accordion went up on stage and was singing Vegas hits. I'm always sad to know that this fine ensemble is now gone. This was a show that always made me feel good and made me smile. I felt like they were my friends, too.

I thought Valarie Harper passed from “Brain Cancer”
I thought so too! Maybe she was still alive when this was made, but it does say 2021
She died in 2019. The cancer that killed her was everywhere in her body but ultimately did her in when it reached her brain and spinal column membrane.
Benny, the boyfriend of Brenda appears to have aged into deceased actor Adam West of Batman fame and voice of Mayor West in Family Guy. A few other inaccuracies but the pleasing music got me through it. Rhoda was a great show, sad to see most have passed. Such is life.
Why do you have Kavner listed as providing the voice of Marge Simpson only up until 2015?
Are Brenda and Bennie still together? Lol Brenda looks great.

Valerie Harper did not die from lung cancer but brain cancer.
Why can’t people research things and get facts before posting videos.
The original cast is always better, for any show.
