After decades of not playing them he came back to his catalog with a new perspective. I think that may have been better than playing them forever and now being just another old folk rocker! Cat was looking for answers and God and it was right there in his hands. Then the Music Died. It brings tears to my eyes just like you see in the audience. I miss Cat Stevens and The Fire is gone. I've always wondered, where God's talents would have brought him. I thank God You Tube for bringing me back to When.......
I also think that the tearful people in the audience mourn Cat's talent, sacrificed to a misplaced notion of what is holy or unholy. Decades later he got back, but the Fire of Creativity cannot be easily rekindled.

I love this song. I feel it tells my story of loneliness and being shut off. My sister thinks she is lonelier than me because I’ve been alone for 16 years. But it doesn’t work that way. Loneliness just is. This pandemic has made things worse. I’ve been through 3 hospitalizations this summer. I was alone. My sister is so scared of COVID-19, it was difficult to ask her to pick me up and take me home. Her son moved in basically without her approval. He has now taken over her Honda CRV. She is stuck in her house. And she has been told to call STL County and have him arrested for elder abuse and bullying. Please pray for Judy McMahon. She believes that she is being punished by God for past sins that she has already asked for forgiveness. She doesn’t believe me. And she threatens driving of a bridge or if she only had a gun... I try to tell her that thoughts like that displease God.

There is nothing called "secular muslim" or "secular jew", a state can be secular not a person.
He has the ability to write ballads and connect with an audience even after 50 years. That is rare, indeed.
