It gets a comeback. There will be 2 special editions on Switch (from Strictly Limited), including the Amiga-Versions, Genesis and Super Nintendo. They are limited, but still avaiable. I totally freaked out, when I heard that.
Sorry, but I disagree! Most remakes in these times are technically perfect, but they lackethe spirit of the original! I'll be glad to be proven wrong on this, though!
Hi! At these Corona-times we are all going through, these themes bring back sweet childhood memories! Maybe my parents have "Stones" and "Beatles" , but I have Hülsbeck! Great mastering!
Damn this sounds pretty crisp! It actually sounds to me like all the separate instruments have way more breathing room. Much clearer and well defined. I like it!
Me having uploaded so many Huelsbeck's tracks, it's only fair that i take this opportunity to inform you of his ongoing Kickstarter campaign for Turrican II Live Orchestra Album (ends May 29): www.kickstarter.com/projects/chris-huelsbeck/turrican-ii-live-orchestra-album-by-chris-huelsbec Yes, i'm a backer :)
Turrican 1 soundtrack is quite underrated due to its phenomenal successor. Link the sharp and „pointy“ sound of the title track, which matches the title picture quite well. Any chance @kuokka77 to do the full T1 OST sometime?
If it sounds good for you with speakers, cool. The intended listening experience is achieved with headphones and the reason is the Dolby Headphone DSP which is in use here. It adds room virtualization. You don't want to add another room on top of that, which is what will happen with speakers, unless you happen to listen in an anechoic chamber.
I like these Dolby mixes, but they are a bit limp. They feel very empty to me, especially the low frequences which have no kick to them at all. All the filtering removes any clear warmth to the high ends too. I'm a purest though, fake surround (or mixing old tracker music to emulate being played in a wide open room) sounds rubbish. xD Much prefer the raw PCM samples without any alteration at all. Great videos, though. Lol.
+Hal Hal (9000) Amiga raw is fine and dandy no question (A1200 era sound, not the horribly filtered sound that my own early-rev A500 unit puts out), but it was never meant for headphones imo, which is what i use exclusively for music. That's why i started to play with these gimmicks. Stereo-join of sorts combined with subtle crossfeed, or ever crossfeed alone (Meier Audio does it well), gives much more neutral experience that suits headphones without resorting to any room simulation effect. Dolby with its room simulation is certainly an acquired taste and definitely not for purists ;)
+Hal ... some people don't have a big speakers ... or a room! ... appreciate the different "flavours" of this amazing music available ... to cater for all situations ... like for example with headphones on a train. Best commute ever!
Turrican deserves a comeback, a huge comeback so to speak.
I totally agree

@@SCHEIBIWORX To be fair, that's less of a comeback and more of a re-release. But you know what, I'll take it over a botched "re-imagining".

Spaceman/gal with guns... that's Doom or Halo.

Theres only one guy who is greater than Chris, Martin ‘O Donnel with Halo and Destiny …. Ok Hans Zimmer is quite good too. :P

Sounds good on good stereo equipment, why should it be for headphones only?

Ah ok.
It sounds really good with SIDs which are typically horrible to listen to with headphones !
sounds well with my Philips headphones :)
Platform Doom xD
Platform Halo.

+Kuokka77 Yeah, I just think if you want room simulation then just play them on big speakers in a room. :P
