Dude! An outstanding Video!! Thank you so much!!! Going through the advanced settings to the controller was just a huge help. Exactly what I needed. The Q20s 1000W motor is should be torquer or faster acceleration then 500w bike. I heard from other comments that the 13Ah version may have different controller and might be slower. As for top speed the physics won’t allow much faster speed. $5000 super73 with 48V only have top speed of 32-33mph. To go faster you’ll need 52V or 60V but then the bike weights 120 lbs

A motor controller upgrade will surely be complicated as well, I'm rethinking that mod. So, what do you think about the throttle on your bike? @BRichSolution it's the same throttle I assume by the looks. My explanation is not clear then. The motor power is either full off or full on except for a small amount of throttle rotation in the middle that modulates the power. It's hard to only give part throttle, and I'm considering replacing the stock throttle with something else that's easier to modulate the motor power.

Also it looks like the seat could be modified easily enough to make room for a gas tank battery. Good for distance but top-heavy for off road.

Yes i tried setting wheel larger and small no change in top speed like I have been able to do with other ebikes. 31 mph is respectable top speed. $5000 super 73 is only go 32 mph unlocked
The bike & motor is limited by power output limited to 20A from controller. I changed the wheel diameter from p06 setting wheel size from default 23' to 16" and speed read slower on display but top speed with GPS was 30 mph. This worked with my Sondors bike but not with Ridstar. I set wheel diameter to 30" and display top speed was 40 mph, but GPS said 30 mph. This confirms controller limits the speed by only outputting 20A

Macfox x1 is not a good value compared to Ridstar Q20. The X1 has small 500w motor (top speed maybe 25 mph). Mechanical brakes vs Q20 hydraulic. X1 has no rear suspension. Don’t buy x1 you will be disappointed
Hey there, thanks for the video! I'm from the netherlands where we have a lot of restrictions to what is allowed on a fatbike. I can switch off the throttle in the menu, because i will not be using that. But I need a quick reset option to maximize the speed to 25km/h. Thanks in advance!
No quick short buttons to change settings quickly. I have been thinking of a way to put a switch on ebike to change settings quickly. For the throttle you could put an inline on/off switch

Align brakes calipers. Loosen bolts on brake caliper so it can move freely then squeeze brake lever and center on rotor and tighten brake rotor. Clean rotor with dawn and water then alcohol swab
No, has bot happened. Try charging battery for 3-4 hours outside and the measure voltage of battery (+ and -) with voltmeter and it should measure 54.5V if not then battery cell or cells went bad
Ah yes very common issue with bikes. Loosen bolt that retain the brake caliper and its allowed to slide a little for adjustment. Squeeze the brake level to center the caliper on the rotor and then tighten bolts. See various youtube videos for adjusting brakes on bikes
Is there a way to set the trottle to work only as the walk mode ie 3 miles 5 km/h. In the netherlands it is only allowed to have a trottle as walk assist or and I am not sure as a small boost till 25 km/h. If not if have to remove the trottle.
I don’t think you can set the throttle to walk only mode. What you can do is turn off the throttle completely in the settings or consider buying 3 pin SM connectors and wire in on/off switch under the seat so you can turn the throttle on and off quickly
you dont need to, just hold the minus button on the selector switch for a few seconds and it the bike will go on its own 5mph. when you want to stop it, just pull any brake

Hello I bought this bike and assembled it today but I’m having a P07 code I believe there is a short right between the throttle to the motor. Have you had this issue
Sorry to hear that you are having issues. According to the manual error code 7 is issue with motor. If so then most likely throttle issue. I had throttle issue on another ebike last year and new throttle fixed the issue
I changed my tire settings to 40 inches when I was messing with the settings and I put it back to 32 and now it says my max speed it says my max speed is 7 mph I don’t know how to fix it
i have a ridstart and everything is perfect besides the battery life. how do i get the full 20 minles throttle only. bc when i throttle and loot at the voltage, it’s taking so much power out temporarily dropping to 46.3 and lower for lower initial battery percentage
Will the motor power the bike if you pedal? If the motor works when you pedal then check connector on the throttle to main harness, unplug and re connect firmly. If still an issue then replace throttle

Q20 all the way… Q20 pro only if you live in hilly area as dual motors drains battery so quick
hello Mr. Rich is it possible that you can show us a mod or a hack to go a little bit faster in a ridstar q20, please?
Not much faster you can go with 48V… its physics. $5000 super 73 only go 32mph. 52V battery might get you faster
Can this bike go faster than 31mph with pedaling?
Yes, you will be pedaling like a hamster on a wheel but you can. 31mph is respectable as $5000 super 73 only does 32 mph
Hey im still having throttle issues, everytime i turn the throttle nothing happens what should i do?
Did you change p10 setting to 2? Does the bike motor engage when pedaling? If throttle does not work request a replacement throttle from seller
@@BRichSolution I did and I got it working thank you💯🤝🏽🤝🏽🤝🏽
How to change the default speed of 30 kph to 50 kph?
Watch entire video and see the settings for max speed and amps
I changed the settings and now it won’t turn on please help me
Thats odd. You got the battery on, key turned and hold the power button (3 things to turn on)
If you change the wheel diameter in setting i believe it can get up to 40 mph
Thats what the speedometer says but let validate with GPS data. I did that on my Sondors and was able to get 3 more mph
This confirms controller limits the speed by only outputting 20A
@@BRichSolution oh ok
@BRichSolution hey Rich I have the Ridstar q20 pro with the k6 display controller. My display shows only 1 battery. Is there any way I can make it show my 2nd battery?
Is this a cadence sensor for the pedal assist or a torque sensor?
Pedal assist
I've had mine for about 2 weeks put 150 miles on it and I've gotten mine to 33 mph
Nice!
How’d you get up to 33? What settings did ya change?
mine goes 26mph max.. what setting did you use? did you change anything?
Nice video! I got my e bike yesterday and Im happy about it. Everything works fine, but the headlight and the honk button doesn’t work, even though I plugged it in. Do you know why?
Maybe switch is bad. Ask seller for replacement
Has anyone made modifications to go past 31? If so what are the methods you used?
52V battery will get ya do 33mph. 31mph is about as fast as you can go with 48V a $5000 super 73 only goes 32mph
@@BRichSolution No, it isn't. lol You really think that? It's all about the controller. lol
Ik heb een nieuwe n vraag hierover. Weet u ook of er een kinderzitje voor erop kan en of er een extra bagagedrager beschikbaar is voor deze Fatbike
No not for Ridstar Q20, buy Ouxi V8 with rear cargo rack its a great bike and on sale
amzn.to/4eEk2dj
Hello, is there an easy way to activate pedal assist cause mine takes so many pedals to turn on and by the time it turns on I will be too tired to pedal.
Yes change the cadence sensitive setting p11. You
Might have to change it 2-3 times to get what you want
@@BRichSolution ok thanks
Hello . Can i make factory reset on mine ? And if yes , how can i do ? Thanks ;)
I don’t see factory reset option but in the video you can see the factory settings so set your display with the same settings
@@BRichSolution thanks
Can you do a review and an assembly on the Macfox X1 please
Macfox x1 is not a good value compared to Ridstar Q20. The X1 has small 500w motor (top speed maybe 25 mph). Mechanical brakes vs Q20 hydraulic. X1 has no rear suspension. Don’t buy x1 you will be disappointed
What does the PAS 1 mean on Home Screen? Peddle assist? If so how do you change that?
Pedal assist system on ebikes most have 1-5 modes some have up to 10.
Hey there, thanks for the video! I'm from the netherlands where we have a lot of restrictions to what is allowed on a fatbike. Faster than 25km/h is not allowed, a throttle is also not allowed if it goes faster than 6km/h. Is there any shortcut to reset the speed settings for when i am pulled over by the cops? I can switch off the throttle in the menu, because i will not be using that. But I need a quick reset option to maximize the speed to 25km/h. Thanks in advance!
No quick short buttons to change settings quickly. I have been thinking of a way to put a switch on ebike to change settings quickly. For the throttle you could put an inline on/off switch
@@BRichSolution thank you!
did u end up buying this bike? did u find a way to change setting if pulled over? thinking of getting this bike in the uk, thanks
Hi, i have bought this bike but how can I take off trottle and turn only pedal assist? Thanks for answer
Change p10 setting to 0 and the throttle no longer works and its pedal assist only
Is this a half throttle or full throttle
Half throttle
@@BRichSolution do you think I can replace it with a full?
How do you reset back to factory settings i messed with it and my pedal assist is kicking in late
regain Pedal assists by selling p10 to 2 as outlined in video and in user manual drive.google.com/file/d/11lAw9iM5LSeClU6BIZ9uhWouXFD8nR_3/view?usp=share_link
So if you set it to a max speed of 20mph would this qualify to be a class 2 bike?
Yes, set max to speed 32km (20 mph)
less voltage more range? am i correct?
Less amps and voltage = more range
Hey Rich I just got my bike today and need some help! This my very 1st e-bike I put together but I’m having a hard time getting pa to kick in I guess idk when I put it on pa5 and pull throttle it goes nowhere. I hear the motor but it’s not moving, what did I do wrong?
Does the throttle not work or pedal assist sensors not kicking in? Make sure p10 is set to 2
@@BRichSolution yeah I think I got a lemon I e done everything
How do you enable cruise control? Mine only goes to p16.
Do you have the cheaper 15ah version
@@BRichSolution I believe so
Yes I do. Just confirmed.
If you change the wheel diameter to 29 you can go even faster
Smaller wheel size on some controllers you can trick the computer to think you’re going slower but actual speed is faster. It did not work for me but try it and let us know
I have this bike. Do you know the part no. for the brake pads? mine are wore out
I have heard the pads are unique for these brakes. Ask seller or Manufacturer for replacement pads
Hey, thanks for the video, can I know if it works in rain ?
I have rode mine in the rain, not issues but I haven’t left it outside in the pouring rain
Hey do you know how to turn off the break motor shut off or what wire to cut
Unplug the motor cut off switches from controller under the seat
Any ideas if the only time I get motor power is the walk power?
do you have P10 set to 1 so the throttle is active?
i just got my bike yesterday. i rode it for an hour or two around campus, then retired it for the day. the next day i got back on it and it is acting as if there is a loose connection or something. it wont wanna go for a bit, but then itll kick in after a while even on a full charge. i dont have the box anymore so i cant return it for a replacement, so im not sure what to do. i just hope its not something wrong with the motor.
Will it go with pedaling when the throttle doesn’t work?
@@BRichSolution no it makes the same clicking noise when I try pedal assist. I've had it for one day. I think a connection is loose or something, because after a while it seems to drive perfectly fine
And the motor also cuts off when hitting a bump
Please help my throttle dont work after trying these settings and I dont know how to fix it
It could be a bad throttle. I had this issues on another ebike. Does motor work when you pedal?
Yeah well my friend went to go change the brakes and he had a special order of them from the Chinese red star site we cannot find them anywhere else
The brakes are nothing special and can be easily upgraded unless you must have brake lever cut off wires?
I can't get my bike out of pedal assist
Throttle does not work?
Hi ,doesn't the fact that it is 23 inches give an error in the speed?
23” is the outside diameter of tire on 20” wheel. 23” setting yields more accurate speed on display too
@@BRichSolution thank you !
Since the controller can be 60v max, can i change to 60v batter? Would it get me more speed?
display settings says 60V but controller box specs say 48V so I doubt it can handle 48V but you can always try. 52V might be less risker option
My P15 is set to 41 miles and it will not let me change it. What exactly does this setting do? Does it tell you how much battery battery is left with that amount of mileage?
P15 is under-voltage when the bike shuts off to protect the battery. See user manual drive.google.com/file/d/11lAw9iM5LSeClU6BIZ9uhWouXFD8nR_3/view?usp=share_link
The ridstar bike has cruise control settings ?
It says that in the manual… but i could not get it work
Hoi hoi. Ik heb ook een ridstar gekregen. Hoe moet ik het nu zo instellen dat ik bijna of niet hoef te trappen en met m’n hand hendel kan “gas” geven. Dus dat hij voornamelijk automatisch gaat. ?? Ben de hele avond. Bezig ik kom er maar niet uit 😢
Set p10 to 2
@@BRichSolutionwow you are my Hero. Het is gelukt. Super super super. 😂😂😂
Mag ik nog iets vragen a.u.b. 😅😅😅.
What are the default settings because I changed mine and some of my only go to 6 miles an hour and then I’m going fast but the speed only shows but I’m going faster than six
See default settings in video
Hi so I recently bought the 48v 20ah 1500w motor model and I’m barley getting 30mph on a full charge. Any ideas how to fix this?
Check the speed with gps app as ebike displays are typically not accurate and can be off by 1-3 mph. Make sure the advanced settings the speed is unrestricted and amps are maxed out. Lastly it takes a long straightaway to get the speed from 28 to 31 mph see speed test video

Hey there, is there a "walk mode" for the bike? So i can push the bike up stairs and have a little assistance.
I think so try holding - button
Hold down button for a couple seconds..
i just got one of these bikes i cant get it to start what ever i do and mine doesn't have a start button on the handle bars like yours i need help before i flip out
Turn key and then hold + button? Is this the cheaper 15Ah version?
when i ride the front wheel sounds like knives sharpening i’m not sure what’s wrong with it
Align brakes calipers. Loosen bolts on brake caliper so it can move freely then squeeze brake lever and center on rotor and tighten brake rotor. Clean rotor with dawn and water then alcohol swab
I bought ridstar FM-001, and the voltage shows 54V, no matter I changed the voltage level at the setting P03. Do you have any idea for it? Thank you
Measure battery voltage with voltmeter on + and - contacts to verify 54v
Hi tried it on my Ridstar then the battery shows on the bar and will not charge up anymore, have you had that happen?
No, has bot happened. Try charging battery for 3-4 hours outside and the measure voltage of battery (+ and -) with voltmeter and it should measure 54.5V if not then battery cell or cells went bad
Having Problems with RIDSTAR Q20 front wheel brakes rubbing with tire disk
Ah yes very common issue with bikes. Loosen bolt that retain the brake caliper and its allowed to slide a little for adjustment. Squeeze the brake level to center the caliper on the rotor and then tighten bolts. See various youtube videos for adjusting brakes on bikes
Is this RIDESTAR comparable to the bk29 Colorway or HITWAY cafe ebike in the to override the speed setting??
Yes

If you change the gear settings in p5 to 9 gears, your first gear will be slow walking speed. Safe travels
Hello I just wanted to say thank you for the video. I had one question for you, so I bought the ridstar q20 from Ali express for 740. I got the 48v 20AH and 1500w model. Do you think I got scammed?
If the bike arrives and it has 20ah battery then you did good for $740
my bike only works after being in walk mode and then i have to press the throttle then it works normal if i stop i have to repeat
That very odd. How did you figure this out? Do a display reset or contact ridstar for help
Does this model auto reset back to the 25kmh (15mph) setting if u hold the minus and the power button together?
No, holding + and - button saves settings that you adjusted
@@BRichSolution I mean the right power button and the minus button. I have a v20 pro and on my model it resets it to 25km/h, same display same buttons
Mine came in with arrows and M, can’t reach the P settings any ideas?
Did you buy the version with 15Ah battery? It has smaller screen and mechanical brakes
Hello I bought this bike and assembled it today but I’m having a P07 code I believe there is a short right between the throttle to the motor. Have you had this issue
Sorry to hear that you are having issues. According to the manual error code 7 is issue with motor. Link to full manual is here drive.google.com/file/u/0/d/11lAw9iM5LSeClU6BIZ9uhWouXFD8nR_3/view?usp=share_link&pli=1
Try pedaling the bike does the bike accelerate and motor turn on independent of throttle use? If so then most likely throttle issue. I had throttle issue on another ebike last year and new throttle fixed the issue
I changed my tire settings to 40 inches when I was messing with the settings and I put it back to 32 and now it says my max speed it says my max speed is 7 mph I don’t know how to fix it
Tire size should be 20 or 23. Try that
What is energy and bar?
Energy bar shows battery level in 5 increments
i have a ridstart and everything is perfect besides the battery life. how do i get the full 20 minles throttle only. bc when i throttle and loot at the voltage, it’s taking so much power out temporarily dropping to 46.3 and lower for lower initial battery percentage
What is the voltage fully charged with no throttle? Should be at least 54.5V or more and then under throttle drop to 51V
Why does my ridstar only go 11 miles per hour I set the ah to 20 and the speed limit to 100?
Are you in PAS mode 5? Hit + button 5 times to ensure in highest PAS mode
Mines being weird I did everything you did in this video and I can’t get be bike to into full electric
Will the motor power the bike if you pedal? If the motor works when you pedal then check connector on the throttle to main harness, unplug and re connect firmly. If still an issue then replace throttle
@@BRichSolutiont lukt mij ook niet 😢
I have a similar frame to the q20 but my display is different are all the functions the same through the menu?
Did you buy the Q20-1200 with the 15Ah battery and mechanical brakes?
