- Gulf Coast residents may not have much time to dry out from the flooding brought on by Tropical Storm Alberto as the National Hurricane Center is tracking two new storm systems forming near Florida and Mexico. CBS News national correspondent Dave Malkoff has more from Corpus Christi, Texas.

Due to waves, parking fees are waved.

You would be shocked at how big that parking lot he’s standing in actually is. Also, that sand he walked over that looks like beach is a two lane street.
At first when he said it wasn't the beach and it started to pan across the bridge I was like 'woah he done that that well, I did actually think he was at a beach', and then I thought there was going to be a highway or smth under the bridge but then BAM! a huge navy vessel sitting on the water, so he was at a beach. It felt like the weatherman was one of those people with an ice cream cone on a stick that keeps pulling it away with different tricks for a sec.
We need more weather people like that guy.
That is Corpus Christi Bay along a stretch called North Beach which historically floods and is not how the city is looking right now. Yes ,there are areas of flooding like this but overrall that is not the situation, Over the JFK bridge onto Padre Island there is some damage and notably to canal homes close to Packery Channel where the storm surge raised the levels of the canals,
Was that an aircraft carrier at the beginning of the segment?
Yes, it's a museum now.
It's the Lexington if I remeber correctly.
The irony of the opening scene with an F150 navigating the flooded streets. Might as well show a group of tourists scrambling to get to their cruise ship.😂
Water surrounding that camper sure makes it looks cheap 🤨
Four inches of water is extremely dangerous and remember... you can drown in a bath tub.

All campers look cheap.
Oh for sure rising waters will lower property value
Love the reporters humour 😅
Thanks Dave for the great update ❤
The water is rising in Michigan too!
That is great news for the environment, the wildlife and the Michiganders that use and enjoy the Michigan waterways.
It looks like the end is coming and that's fine, i am exhausted, my nerves are shot from hearing all sides of...everything, i cant help or make things better and the only thing i did wrong was age, i am 55 and i feel useless and i know someone will yell at me for that even, i want off this train, peace.
No one will yell at you. At least I won't. It's very exhausting to be in this world and see what humans are capable of. So many murders and predators that surround us.
Baby Boomer here! Read about what the French Resistance put up with during WWII ! They dug in and stayed STRONG! GO out in nature and turn off the news! You will feel better soon ! Take care! 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
Lets review, you tell me how much worse someone else had it, as if you know what i am dealing with and then you tell me whats similar to Nancy Reagan telling people "just say no, plus you want to engage in stupid generation wears. i have it bad already.
Yall can literally endit whenever yall want if its that bad…
That is crazy!!!
Thats what we call summer here kids, also Cane hurricane 🌀 season. No cause for any alarm.🇺🇸🍻✌🏻
That is crazy
Those aren't hotels he pointed towards, that's the Texas State Aquarium. All the hotels on North Beach would be behind where he was standing, to the west. At most, there would be localized street flooding by them, which is expected every time a storm comes ashore.
Oh and you only book those hotels if you're a tourist and don't know any better, a Spring Breaker and that's all you can find OR you really think that's the beach, or you're cruising the local prostitutes.
It needs to surge up to Abbots wheelchair.
Another immature comment from a fool.
@@czarcastic1458 I said what I said.
Yeah I'm going 😁 to the store but I'm feel that is really really scary 😲😳 and what happying is not nothing like is not come is stop
That place must be like Florida hardly any land to place parking meters that close to the ocean.
When They get a snowstorm lemme know, otherwise ….🇺🇸🍻✌🏻
What no map?
Every news and weather report for storms and hurricane's are exactly the same.
Some poor reporter standing at the breakwater showing the big waves.
During the storm he will go out of his hotel for the requisite shots of flooded streets and a garbage can blowing down the street.
Oh yea, do not forget the gas station with the canopy blowing off.
Why? for gosh sake, just stay in the studio. It is stupid.

Keep the illegal water out build a border water wall, have Mexico pay for it👐🏻🤣💀
Nothing is wrong, nothing ever happens. Storms happen in the summer guys. Dramatic news snowflakes, Geeze!
Yeah, impressive denial buddy. Not worth fighting over anymore because we are at the point of those areas going underwater permanently.
Image what will happen when a hurricane hits and it will hit, I don't want tax payor money going to stupid people rebuilding in stupid places but sadly FEMA keeps doing that.

Beaches in Texas are trash anyway, just being honest
True, Texas isn't anywhere that most people think of as a beach vacation place. It's Mississippi and east of Mississippi. Totally unlike Mexico where their Gulf Coast is desirable. The Yucatan Peninsula if can get a handle on crime that goes where they're trying to further develop and attract more tourism. Overall The Gulf of Mexico is more desirable than the Oceanside areas. Same about between Baja California and Mexico.
There's some sweet spots but I'm not telling😅.

I’m waiting for the trolls to claim we’ve always had weather like this and the tin foil hats to blame it on secret climate engineering.
Nothing to see here. We’ve always had HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARPb (the “b” is silent. Do your own research.)
CBS NEWS didn't have the UN Climate information panel up on this one. Can't be climate change.
And there they are.
@@VoteForBukele LOL! Please point out the silent "b" in "High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program." Looks like the "b" that terrifies you so much is not only silent, but invisible, too. You should be more scared.
Same little island, more than 100 years ago, same problem with flooding during storm surge. Back then though, the island hadn't been filled in with dredge material when they dug the ship channel into the port (1940's). In fact the hurricanes of 1916 and 1919 flooded the city so badly with chest deep or higher water, they built the sea wall, and filled in the area between Water Street (used to be the bayfront) and what is now Shoreline Drive.
As far as weather engineering, it IS real, just not nearly as effective as some people think.
Climate change
The climate always changes. It always has, always will.
It sure has changed. It's been only a few months ago and we had freezing temps at sun up. Now, every morning it's in the mid 60's to low 70's. Something strange is going on with our climate.
@@ValkyrieRiderIPT A few months ago we were in winter and spring, and now we are in summer. If you didn't realize the weather changes in between seasons you have serious issues to deal with.
