It's pretty much perfect. Beautiful handle, good versatile size, and an awesome looking blade. I would carry this with pride👍

I appreciate that a lot! I am hoping to start my new knife project in the next 2 weeks. Lots of things going on at the moment but pretty soon I will be able to immerse myself in the next build. I plan to put a lot of passion into the next one!

While I love watching someone with natural craftsman skills, I have to say you talking shit to the wasp and crushing him was video gold.... I had to re watch the whole video because it took a half hour to stop laughing my ass off. Thank you!!!! I needed that laugh

Quick tip on the cleaning epoxy from the blade when putting the handles on. Dry fit with a piece of tape that extends under the handles. Cut the outline of the handle out and remove the part that is under the handle. Leave the part that covers the blade. That way if the epoxy sets before you get to clean it, peel it off with the tape. Myself, I dint use 5 minute, I use epoxy with at least a 15 minute open time. It's just easier for me. 👍 the end result on this knife is awesome. Nicely done sir.🤝 t h at hamone came out great!

awesome video Dave you did a fantastic job on the knife where did you get your mosaic pins made i would like to get some with my makers mark thanks Mark😀👍

Thanks Mark! I appreciate it. I made the pins myself. Well, with the help of my friend that lives nearby who owns a UV resin printer. He printed me the DK logo inserts which I put inside a 1/4" brass tube and injected with epoxy resin that had black mica pigment mixed into it. Otherwise I am not sure how one would get ahold of coloured logo pins like that. I have seen makers on Instagram that make logo pins

Beautiful work and at 71 I can't possibly follow your grinding skills but I'll be slow and safe now working on 1095 a 3 piece kitchen set very happy to happen with seeing the DIY of heat treatment and the whole process..
    QUESTION??
Your handy knife vice tool for surcurring the knife blade does it have a felt pad or leather lining that holds without scratches on the blade.
That's so much spit and polish I'm not going to match your work but great job young man and thanks 👍

Thanks John! Yes I normally cover the finished blade in masking tape when it is clamped in the vise. During the glue-up and assembly I would normally clamp the handle scales with some c-clamps and set the clamps down on the bench leaving the blade just exposed to the air and not clamped at all. However the epoxy was starting to set and I had to act very quickly. I got very lucky I didn't get a scratch on the blade!
Thanks for watching!!! Have you considered a bevel grinding jig? I have never used one myself but maybe I'll make one and do a video on it because I've always been curious about them and maybe it could also be helpful to you guys.

Yes made what I believe is a nice job on my jig but I'm not sure if I had a problem with it but I'm now working with 1.25 inch bandsaw steel and it's to thin so working by hand .Not your steady hand at the grinding.
" But my blades will keep me safe if threatening "
I'm satisfied with below your skill level 👌
I did use the bevel jig on my 3 piece set to my satisfaction thank you and it was nice working with new steel
Truthful I'm being your knife is almost a paring knife in my eyes for I'm thinking kitchen knives and as your knife design follows function.
My kitchen set my idea paring knife the blade I made about 2 inches long and 3/8" wide thinking mostly want something to cut out imperfections of potatoes and apples and skinny apples and potatoes for the most part. My boneing knife will be the most useful in my set and a slightly upwards curve butcher style knife that someone who does a lot of food preparation suggests when I asked her to please trace her favorite knife and use most often.
I'm under no obligation to that nice Lady whom I will probably never know but on my gardening website but after that stranger spending $5.60 to make and ship my unbent drawings of her knife I knew I was to make her one and mail it to her as to say thank you.
Also I'm going on 51 years of happy marriage and not trying to get romantic in any direction.
You helping me as a BlackSmith Hobbyist that makes more gardening tools and only few knives but thanks for improving my skills this is rewarding hobby for myself

It's not the time to me, it's the color. You had a nice golden color for tempering. I believe you're correct, mass has a lot to do with how quickly it comes to temp and starts softening the steel.

I would look at putting your logo pin in the center of the handle vice having such a large hole right at the narrowest part of the blade, otherwise looks good.

Knives are great tools and handy just ask my Buddy who got over 100 stitches in a few seconds. 3.5 " yellow case that his coworker had sharpening before lunch across the street at the bar.
