  • On 20th November 2019 I took on the challenge of a full decent of the river that I grew up on. It was a spectacular way to see this beautiful river and countryside as it changes along its course and to see the effects that development and people have had on it, starting from up in the top of the Sally Gap and Finishing at Poolbeg pier. taking a total time of 16hr 34min to complete 125km.
    Dedicated to my beautiful sister Emma.

    Great! Love things like that.
    And I love the brown water, we've that here also in the Eifel/Ardennes, the lttle mountain region between Belgium and Germany. But usally there's only water in winter, very rarely after heavy rainfalls the other time of the year.

    No safety belts were used in the making of this most adventurous and brilliant film, one man and his Kayak heading down into Liffey weather below. If the great Phil Lynett was still around, he would have written and sand a song about this adventuring man and his beautiful sister Emma.

    This was really cool to watch. I was thinking of walking the length of the river over a few days. Do you think the river would be able to follow on foot? I'm sure it passes through a lot of private land. Thought you might know after kayaking. Thanks for the video ;)

    • @Tdunphy85
      @Tdunphy85  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks man, yep I think it’s possible for sure just will take some time, the start is all based in a boggy area and would be slow moving but very doable. Once you get past blessington reservoir it will be a little trickier with having to cross equestrian estates, farmers fields, fences, barbed wire etc along with navigating any tributaries on the way that may not have bridges etc where needed. Once you get to celbridge things will get easier and there are paths close to the river most of the way to Dublin port. I’d say it would be a great walk and nice way to enjoy the river!

      @@Tdunphy85 I'd love to give it a crack but I'd probably start after the white water, coz I only have a touring kayak. Is there only this much water flowing in the winter?
