    I was at this concert. It was in the Opera Theatre, now know as The Joan Sutherland Theatre. I also taped it. This is much better quality than mine after all these years. Thank you for sharing.

    Dame Joan is fabulous in this live performance and so too is the sound quality. Purrrfect❤️so beautiful. It’s wonderful how these recordings are popping up on TH-cam.
    PS . Her low notes are marvellous in this recording-so clear and crystal clean.

    Sutherland was a great Mozartian too as evidenced here. Thanks so much for posting. I love her Countess which she only sang in the 1950s I believe. It was slated for January 1991 as her farewell in Barcelona but it was scrapped. Her final performance was the previous New Year’s Eve at Covent Garden.

      She was a great Handelian as well, and could have been a great Wagnerian if she had so chosen. There was almost no repertoire she could not have sung well.

      I really, really wish a broadcast of one of her performances of Figaro will surface one day - she must have been absolutely divine as the Countess ❤
