The new lord x looks more chilled and funny compared to the old one
I think it's the fact that the new lord x is more expressive. I think the only time the old lord x's mouth changes shape would be his up animation but all the others has him doing the relatively same facial expression.
Also the New Lord X has new Story

I weirdly enjoy the idea of Lord X being characterized as less malevolent and more just a goofball with a love for scaring people. Make him a complete contrast to Xenophanes where he’s less evil and more just a harmless yet horrifying prankster.
