almost made it to the livestream but got busy; great content as always. with regards to sharing scientific knowledge or maintenance and husbandry, i can probably help with eartheaters - just not sure how much or how regular i can write

Thanks, it doesn't have to be frequently at all, like sometimes one off articles are still great. It's more about getting accurate information out there.

Too bad, I just missed the stream; it's good in replay, too. You mentioned something I've wondered about, niche partitioning of loricariids. Are there a lot of different species that live within any given area, and other than diet are there other ways that they differentiate in order to avoid competition?

Generally there will always be more then one Loricariid in the same area, sometimes they are diversely different in their niche/diet but sometimes it seems to overlap. Where for example there are many algivores, looking at their jaws it seems they are feeding on different algae's or finding the algae in different places.
The only study has been using Panaque, Panaqolus, Hypostomus cochliodon, Lamontichthys and Spatuloricaria. So, the Panaque, Panaqolus and H. cochliodon can all find the biofilms in the wood. Panaque are likely able to get deeper into the wood then the others. Lamontichthys feeds on these biofilms on the surface of the wood. Spatuloricaria, not sure why they included it as it seems to feed largely in the substrate, likely an invertivore.
