Em is looking more and more like Annie Lennox! 😂
You should do a video on Remy Shand (rnb singer) and his masterpiece The Way I Feel album. His only album.
Eminem has a crazy freestyle named KICKOFF freestyle.. bro there's too many metaphors and shit to breakdown there and no one will be able to break them down like you i believe .. i hope you'll react to it oneday
I would love to see you react to the explicit music video for “Eminem - I just don’t give a f*ck”
i think you should look at some G Eazy got some crazy flows and schemes
This was the first version I ever heard. It's weird to me that so many people don't know this version. Rap boards used to be amazing online.
I agree I heard the explicit version first
This was also the version I heard. I never heard anyone say anything like since slim shady.
Same here, I don't think I've heard the censored version
tried to go along with the spotify explicit version....needless to say, it was not this version. It tripped me up bad
Same. I guess I'm an old head but it's the only version i know
The censored version of this says " I just drank a fifth of Kool Aid" 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t know why but I just thought of Dane Cook’s Kool Aid Man bit 😂 Look it up if you haven’t seen it..you’re welcome
Now that's hilarious
I gotchu: th-cam.com/video/62yPRGb9_UI/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=elementalDC
Thing is, The Jonestown Massacre, most of the stuff that was actually used was called Flavour Aid
😂😂
“By the way if you see my dad, tell him that I slit his throat in this dream I had”-Eminem that’s the line that gravitated me to Eminem since I grew up without a dad and then knowing that Eminem was himself an amazing father to his daughter made me give him respect for the love he had for her.. changed me as a person to try and be more caring to others instead of being bitter about the situation I was in.. kind of funny he was a good “Role Model” to me …
I was pretty lucky in the parent lottery, but had plenty of friends who were not, and it’s not at all odd to find role models wherever you can, it’s amazing when you can find somebody who takes care of their children, or who is a genuine model of service to others, or who isn’t all pretentious, in a sea of hypocrites.
Realest comment i've seen in awhile no bs, and the reply too, it seems so rare to see people like this on social media anymore. I also grew up never knowing my dad, had heard he died in a motorcycle accident all for my mother to tell me when i was 27 yrs old that he was trying to reach out to me. Put me in such a weird predicament i didnt even know how to respond. Feels good to see such genuine people online...much respect!
@@skrybegamez dam that sucks .. it’s crazy to think.. you probably felt like he came back from the dead 😬 back at you .. much love 👍 stay strong 💪
@@douglasmijangos3327 Yea we talked a few times on the phone but nothing ever came of it you know, excuses and all the typical shit. But nah you right when it comes to staying strong, that's all any of us can do.
@@skrybegamez facts.. we need to rise above that shit .. I got to the point when it really didn’t matter that I didn’t have my father around… growing up wit that teenage angst and depression was when I needed him but after that it really didn’t matter if he was there .. thanx for the love and respect 👍 good luck wit every aspect of your life .. I think us who didn’t have those important people in our lives grow up to be stronger than others because we have to.. we learn from all the bullshit and some people don’t even realize how empty and bad it can be.. so we try harder and grow stronger 🤷🏻♂️
There’s also his song “Kim”, which was so dark that nothing about that song could be played on the radio. Eminem always put his emotions out there in his music.
Kim is fucking amazing in its storytelling.
I think Kim also has two versions, because he says something about there’s a four-year-old little boy with a slit throat, and if I’m right that was censored on the album version.
@@bMt5553 They took the whole song off the censored album I'm pretty sure. Replaced it with another song
God Kim is a fucked up song lol. I could never really listen to it all the way through lol
@@coreyaldridge1753 that’s correct. But then there’s another version of Kim, which has a few things added that weren’t in the regular version.
I remember the days of sitting in front of the tv waiting to press record on the VCR when a certain music video came on
YES! Or even further back, waiting for that specific song on the radio to press record for the cassette you have permanently in there ready to go! 😂
My name is is so crazy. Imagine if Dre never discovered Em. Hip-hop would be so different.
That's true
I would've been boring 😂
The "I drank a fifth of vodka...dare me to drive?" lyric was also featured in the song Stan. The crazed fan Stan repeats it near the end when he's first shown driving in the car before he drives it off a bridge.
I remember buying this album uncensored when it released. Still know every damn line to this day. Iconic album.
In Europe they released the explicit version, no radio friendly version 😂
Yes and I vaguely remember poking fun of censoring in MTV, because they were doing it
One of the best on TH-cam, Your breakdowns give a new level of appreciation to the artist and the genre, love your vids man.
That’s what I aim for 🙏 Thank you man appreciate that
Im 24 and from norway, but i have never heard the cencored version, for people in europe im pretty sure this is what people always heard
Correct. In UK we had the explicit version. I didn’t hear the censored version until about ten years after the song came out! I was so confused at first 😂😂😂
this was around when tipper was trying to censor everything from music to movies. there is the radio version, then there's the released version and the demo version, which was actually this one.
@@theconsigliere8463 Was that the days of “Parental Discretion is Advised” 😂.
Yeah, we have Al Gore’s wife to blame for all the censorship GenX had to endure on the radio through the fun years of our lives. That’s the reason Eminem made so much money: she forced most of us to go buy the album.
I was a teen when this came out. I remember what blew me away was the adlibs. It just felt like it painted a way deeper picture. Thats what kinda hooked me. Then I became a huge fan. The adlibs on this and pretty much most albums are way different than other artists. It just adds to everything. Em is the GOAT.
When ever I talk about Eminem I say he's a modern poet. Just the GOAT the way he writes and delivers verse. For whatever reason I bought slim shady cd in 99 and never looked back.
Im cant help picturing Em in the yellow gears when Dre & him first were in the booth recording this 😂🥰
This came out when I was 8 and it changed my life, it’s one of the only songs that I remember exactly where I was when I heard it (in the car listening to JAM’N 94.5 pulling into a campground with my babysitter and her daughter, good times) I’m pretty sure it was the first rap song I’d heard because both of my parents were into rock and it just completely floored me. His music has gotten me through so much, especially in middle school. I used to just sob to Cleanin’ Out My Closet because my mom was an absolutely horrible person when I was a kid and it really helped me get through the worst of it, his music is really cathartic to me. Encore came out when I was 13 and I must have played it a thousand times
Great breakdown as always. In UK & Ireland and the rest of Europe we got the "Banned" version as our explicit version. There was always two, one for radio, one for the album which had explicit sticker on the front.
I was gonna say, this is the version I always listend to… thanks for clearing that up
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉😊😂
KNOX YOU BEAST.
Amazing breakdown and history lesson as always
I was in 7th grade when I first heard this. Was just chilling in my room, playing Tony Hawk, and as soon as I heard his voice, I was like wtf... was a fan by the end of the first verse. I had just got a CD player for Christmas. Pretty sure this came out after New Years in January 99. Album dropped the next month and my grandma and I went to Target the week it came out for groceries. I asked her if I could have a CD and she said sure. I remember seeing that big ass parental advisory on the front and was like damn. Took the chance, went back to her cart, and just casually put it in with the front down. That actually worked and not a single question was asked about it and I walked out of that store that day with what became one of, and still is, my most favorite albums of all time.
This whole album blew my mind. Listened to it daily. So many great songs. My Name Is, Guilty Conscience, Just Don't Give A F***, Role Model, As The World Turns, the whole damn album was legit front to back. Still have that exact CD to this day. Those first three albums he dropped were so good. But of the three, this is my personal favorite.
I would like to hear more Relapse reactions, super underrated album!
I thought that "my name is" was from the slim shady lp, not relapse. Maybe im wrong but i thought that was the case
I’m a HUGE Stan but I haven’t heard this banned explicit so, thank you ✨🎶🖤😎
The radio plays Eminems music but there is no point because they cut it all out
I actually got hold of the acapella to this version years ago and remixed it with DMX's Where The Hood At over the Dirrty beat.. threw in a few DMX ad libs over shadys verses, and vice versa.. the best part is in the intro where DMX says ' you mfs think I can't pull another rabbit out the hat?' with Em's 'Hi!' thrown in (as in, y'know, B Rabbit)
it's not on this account and I'm not trying to self promo so no link either
I wanna here it tho lolol send the link
@@darthsidioustheemperor7976 one of the comments says it's off flow, it ain't, I kinda get his point from how it sounds at the start, but I had to line up the first verse with the right part of the beat, it's all spot on though.. this is one of my better ones too tbf, so be warned, if you go through more of mine, some are pretty shit, the 50 Cent 21 Questions is a good'n
anyway, link..

❤❤❤iloveit
They say this version was banned but im certain this is the version i heard when we bought the album. When i got Apple Music I always wondered why it was slightly different. Always been a mystery to me.
Always been wanting to see this reaction. Would love seeing reactions to Juicewrlds deeper songs like 10 feet, Lean with Me, and Robbery
Still waiting for the breakdown of the hour long eminem freestyle..
This song was played more on the Alt/Rock stations (HFS at the time) in the DC area than like 95.5/93.9 at first.
I have never been a big Hip Hop/Rap fan but Eminem i have been listening to since this song came out as my brother introduced me to him. I have heard this song millions of times and i never understood the history of it. Its so interesting to hear about all that went on with this song and also lines i didnt understand make sense now because you pointed them out. Thanks for the reaction
Crazy how I am 36 and ½ of the words I have no idea what they mean. Like “cid”(I suck at spelling so could be misspelled) didn’t know it was acid… reason I watch reactions and hope they know what they are talking about. Knox has a lot of knowledge about lyrics so always try and check him out as much as a lot of other artists/reactors.
Thank you my brother for this blast from the past. I was in the Marine Corps when this 1st came out and the next time I heard this I was a civilian and the words were wrong and I never knew why. Thank you for this history lesson. ❤❤
My dad used to play this version all through my childhood in the passenger seat of a 1995 Ford Mondeo 4x4. I didn't even know they had a clean version until 10 years later and thought it sounded super weird. I miss those times
I found you & your channel almost 2 years ago when i was looking for Eminem breakdowns. I found you and have been watching and supporting ever since. This breakdown is just another perfect breakdown by the best breakdown artist ever! Thanks for all of your hard work and for all of the info & smiles you've given me! Love ya Professor ✌️🫶
I like that he had all these adlibs in the background since the very beginning.
I have heard this song may be a couple of 1000 times till date but am always for you do your amazing take on it
The first time I heard the full version, I witnessed the lyricism of Marshall.... the genre would never be the same..
when he says dare me to drive, I always think of the bee movie gif of the bee raising his eye brows fast
The amount of nostalgia I feel with this song is unreal. 😅
"If you're gonna go to a White Castle, don't do it sober. Thank me later." 😂 I lost it at that! Love your break downs, but that was pure gold. Keep making MD proud with these genius break downs.
Okay, I'm sure Eminem has a smile on his face as he watches and listens to your great analysis. I'm also sure we'll witness something important that will bond the two of you together. I'm not kidding⚡
Knox: greetings from St. Petersburg, FL .... I love your channel. You are always on point with your reactions and your also a very talented writer/rapper.
4:48 i call that 'rapping like Street Fighter'. when he drops pitch the character ducks, the offbeats when he's not rhyming are blocked attacks and still part of the rhythm.
want/to/im/preg/nate
straight punch/duck/low kick/uppercut/high kick
Yes, please do more of these unreleased versions of songs, or more Slim Shady LP tracks! Great reaction, as always.
Great video Knox! I watch em all :) love you breaking down Em songs
I literally had to buy this CD 3 times because we listened to it on repeat for years... It's the soundtrack of my first 3 years as an adult lol.
Very first memory of Em is 7:30 am in 1999 before high school. Driving my 1976 Toyota and hearing the radio play this. Someone called into the station and was hyped to hear Em on the radio. He said he's known of him since his first album Infinite. There was so much distain and admiration from my peers. He was the teens I was in school with at the time. Em was like a mascot for the outcast.
Knox, as if listening to Em isnt and hasn't always been awesome. You breaking it all down is just pure 🔥 🔥🔥🔥
So happy I found your chanel, your intelligent way of unfolding lyrics is dope. Much gratitude and love from Moscow, Russia.
I love going down memory lane. Keep going Knox. I’m loving it. ❤
Listen to the demo of "Bad meets Evil" from 1997 for the first Hi my name is
I was 18 when this dropped and drove my mum insane with it 😂😂 she was mortified. But kinda likes the slit my dads throat line as that waster was never around. Great reaction Knox ❤
I can still remember where I was the first time I heard this/when it dropped. This was huge in my childhood.
Yeah I didn't know this was banned? This is the version on The Slim Shady LP album.
Your breakdowns are so incredible and unmatched my guy. 👏🏽👏🏽 we need more brother. Much love Knox. ❤
This was actually the version of the song I knew growing up, so the explicit version always sounds censored to me.
Same here lol
Same. Was also shocked to hear in a different breakdown of his that the Parental Advisory sticker meant the CD couldn't be bought in places without a parent present. For us it was just a little edgy music sticker that didnt mean anything when I bought the CD at age 14.
@@XTSonicI definitely bought the Eminem Show at like 9 or 10 years old. I don’t think the employee was supposed to but little kid me even then hated the clean version. I liked hearing the explicit version always. To me it always felt more emotional or genuine
@@MichaelMcCloud29 That, and it sounded right as some clean version fuck up the rhyme scheme or just sounded stupid.
"I just don't give a fffuuuuuuuhhh" springs to mind
Knox!! You the goat on break downs, so appreciative of you! But man, you sound a bit under the weather, hope you’re getting enough rest & looking after yourself 🙏
Always love the respect you give to artists you might not usually like.
Though who doesn’t love 90s Eminem?
Very insightful - who doesn’t like a school day like this?
Em on I Need A Doctor is probably the greatest thank you song ever written.
MMLP had like 4 different versions, one Explicit with “KIM” and then somehow an edited version of “KIM” then he had to make one with the song “KIDS” instead of Kim and there was an explicit and edited version of that one too. Just one album. I had was 9/10 years old and I had the explicit KIDS version and one of my friends had the KIM version so we swapped for a day and we both burned the songs we didn’t have. First time I heard it I was shook.
Funny and ironic of you putting this out. Last night I discovered this version and knowing all about what happened making this song. Eminem is just an overall genius and no other white old school rapper can even come close to him I'd imagine. Crazy to think how he is still relevant and been making music and is now double the age whenever he made this. Just unbelievable.
my favourite fact about this song is that in it if you play it backwards it says eminem
Thanks for the info about Labi Siffre. I just got into his music. I knew that he wrote this sample and his studio musicians were Chas 'n' Dave, but I only recently found out that he wrote 'It Must Be Love' which was covered by Madness. My son recently introduced me to Kanye, who sampled My Song too. He also wrote Something Inside So Strong which is another classic.
Never heard this version. Great breakdown of a classic
I love THIS version of the record. But, then again, I feel if the artist's wanted this version I owe it to him to listen to it!!!
Em is the GOAT 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
From 1996 through till eternity!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You said imagine people looking up slim shady when it's Eminem. But we're talking 1999 there's not a whole lot of looking up maybe going to the record store & asking if they have slim shady? Hopefully the guy is knowledgeable enough to tell you well it's Eminem
I was 12 years old when this came out, been a stan ever since!
Love when you go into mad details, on even the background music 🔥 greatest history teacher ever 😂
The first time I heard this, my friend had a tape and we all listened to it. I didn't like it because I thought it was sadistic. After some pills and smoke, i listened to it all night. Then I caught the comedy in it. Changed my life.
has anyone noticed
how near the end the music goes in a circle in a hypnotic pace from one ear to the next and also behind the head and hear it in front of you.
It's nice to hear this. It's been forever ! Nice flashback
"It's a shout out to Nine inch Nails." You don't say. Dude is killing me with these breakdowns. 😂😂😂
Back in the day this was just known as the album version...
"That's a bold move Cotton!" "Hope it pays off!" Funny ass line from a funny movie. When Knox said "that was a bold move" 2X, it just reminded me of that.
@Knox Hill - Maybe a new series on your channel: Getting into the back story of some more Eminem songs, or really any song that has a good, bad, or crazy back story would make a good little series on your channel. I know when I want to know the lyrics and the meaning I come to your channel. Thanks again for all the hard hard you put into this!
To hear the origin of the sample, search up Labi Siffre - I Got The... (1975) and listen from the 2:30 mark.
My dad heard this on my big "boom box bass×75" stereo... he walked in the room, my friends and I surprised and slightly confused about it, he just listened for like, 20 seconds, he walked over hit eject amongst our cries of "hey cmon wth".... he promptly snapped the cd in half and threw it right out my bedroom window.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 ahhh the days when burning a second copy was 2 clicks away.
This is the only version I ever heard I didn’t realize there was a less explicit but not radio edit version heh neat :)
Immaculate analysis, wanna see more JID on here you'd like his other songs especially on the Forever Story
People can front on My Name Is all they want but that 3rd verse is dope
Fun fact after The Slim Shady LP they started working on the 2001 album.
Congratulations on a Mili. Keep soaring and getting your music out. You are extremely talented! Thanks for the breakdown❤
When he said I'll smoke a fat pound of grass, he used that in bad meets evil on the slim shady lp. It's not the only time he's used the Same lyrics as another song he's made
Hi his name is Marshall 😂❤
Fist time i heard this song and it was this version i was in elementary school back in the early 2000s and the babysitter i had back then her grandkids took me to school along with their cousin and they played a mixed tap that included this song along with other artists like DMX, Busta rhymes, nwa, ice cube etc.
I found your channel on a rabbit hole of Em; and I appreciate your breakdowns and not only of the lyrics; but the beats and how the music works within the songs. I also appreciate your music. I’m probably not your normal subscriber; but I’m hooked.
Good for u knox hill, keep that og rap flowin like its supposed to!! Hi! Wacha want? Chawant!
It's so crazy hearing this because this used to be the version that I would listen to before and when I heard the "official" version I was like this is not the song I know 😅😅
I can't wait until tomorrow for your new track release! il be there for the premiere 🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥 You are such a great reactor but an amazing Artist, ps, when are your white hats going to be available? I want one desperately!🎉❤😊 You are just the 🐐 as far as I'm concerned.🎉❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Sending BIG Love from the Isle of Man 🇮🇲 UK 💐💐💐💐💐💐❤
Love the shirt. Yea the Kris kross shout out was nice. First tape I had as a kid. The alter ego thing came from the d12 crew, cus they all had them.
I LOVEEEEE UR EM VIDS
I only remember this version. I probably heard the clean version, but I was "playing" the explicit version in my head.
im dutch, and i have never heard the other cencored version if this, it wild that people from america dont hear that much uncencored versions of songs
The “BANG” ad lib after the shoot myself in the head line has always got me 😂😂😂
Wow I’ve never heard this version b4. The line about his English teacher being a guy is new for me I used to him saying “my English teacher want to flunk me in junior high. Thanks a lot next semester I’ll be 35”. So wild
I wonder if tying it all to Slim Shady was a genius move and maybe intentional. Angry parents won't let the kids touch an album by that evil Slim Shady person they hear on the radio. But Eminem, sure I'll buy that CD.
This was the version I first heard when I was getting into music and I was confused. Trying to sing along and the lyrics on the radio and TV were so different. 😂
Had to go back and listen to the "explicit" version and wow it's actually night and day when it comes to the punchlines! And just to think of what he said in the future on the MMLP and Medicine Man 😂 damn
EM's unmastered sequence album is all heat 🔥 that's where this is from
3:58 Well, since age 12, I felt like a caged elf, who stayed to himself in one place, chasing his tail.
I’m sure it was something like that in the radio version.
It's just mindblowing that this was the first thing he did when he entered Dr. Dre's studio and it became such a fucking huge hit. Same with Real Slim Shady which he added like 3h before turning in the CD for production.
Yeah it’s great to see an artist just be an artist and not overthink and just go and produce such crazy art ✍️
Great art❤❤❤❤❤👑👑👑🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
Love it please keep doing more of the 🐐 Eminem reactions. Could you do Ems rock bottom next
Still waiting for you to react to Don't Front by Eminem, new release from the mmlp2 days. Buckshot sample. Grazy cadence and flows
For me, it was the music award preformance. That was insane
