Much appreciation. I was at the UT-OU game in Norman in 2014 and had a great time. Our team wasn't that good back then, but ya'll were total class. My brother and I were treated with respect and curiosity and it was great to experience one of the "other" (I include Neyland in this!) great college football cathedrals.
He may not be from Tennessee, but he embodies the values that General Neyland imparted and what it means to give your all for Tennessee. Even if we don't win, which we don't expect or accept, we couldn't be happier to have a coach that carries on that legacy. It IS great to be a Tennessee Volunteer, and we could be happier to know the players and coaches feel the same as the fans. If you give give Tennessee your all, we will too!

I’ve said this before on other Vols videos but I’ll say it here too for good measure: after 20 years of our team program being in the shitter, Heupol’s program feels so cathartic. Players want to come and stay in a program, they feel like they have a future through TN. That translates into a program that is a National Championship contender each year, with lethal offense and impenetrable defense. GBO!
Got me teared up on a Monday morning at work already. I know he was thinking about his mom a lot, I'm so happy this team + entire Vol nation gets to have such a upstanding Coach leading the program. These next two weeks of rest will be pivotal for October

I was at the game and the atmosphere was electric for sure. Orange was everywhere. OU fans were so incredibly hospitable and welcoming. They are SO glad to be in the SEC (as am I). I think they found their next QB and I sure hope OU wins all their other games this year and beat the cow dung out of Bevo. Saw Coach wipe a tear or two as we sang Rocky Top in the end zone after the game. I was skeptical when he was hired, but now I'm convinced he's what we need. He's learned how to coach in the SEC, and our boys play their hearts out for him for a reason.
What Nico did with the game ball...real man move. Finally, got some good men on Rocky Top doing work. Remember who you are even when whistles don't go your way. It's just noise, and you got work to do...
I met Nico in June by the swimming pool and he talked to me for ten minutes and wasn't in a hurry. He was cool and calm and respectful. I got a picture with him for free. I've met several Tennessee players and QBs, but Nico was the most enjoyable and I could just tell he is a great leader and very family oriented just like Coach Heupel. He may end up being the best Quarterback in Tennessee history and I truly believe that

This really was a beautiful moment for him, the team, and this fan base. I know deep down Coach Heupel will always be a Sooner. But now, he has Vol Nation as his family and he is officially a VFL now. He has been fantastic since he came here, and not saying he wasn't before this, but this really earned him his VFL status I believe. We love Coach and all he has done for us. Brought us from rock bottom to almost top of the mountain. God I can't tell you as a lifetime Volunteer, how much he means to this fan base.
His mother passed away in May, and she had said she was looking forward to this game. His dad made it, but not his mom. I'm sure this was difficult....
