      I was about to say this exact same thing. But IMO, desmos is better than a dedicated calculator. Much more convenient to have the calculator on screen. And there are also keyboard shortcuts you can use. Watch LearnSATMath's video on this if you are interested.

    Does the SAT provide a metric and customary measurement system?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So there are problems on the SAT that use freedom units like feet, miles, etc. You don't normally need to know how to convert those units though, although it might be good to brush up on that quickly. Like an easy example would be to calculate the perimeter of a rectangle and the given sides might be in feet. So it's just adding them up. Also, you don't have to write the units in. However, most questions related to science or geometry will use metric.

    Thanks for the video, I wrote my first SAT 2 years ago and completely forgot what I took o the center so this was very helpful!

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome! And I think attention spans are part of it like you said. I think part of it also is that the algorithm is still trying to figure out who the key audience is for my content, who is most likely to stay and watch. That's hard because "college" is a broad topic and I do a lot of different things here, but I've seen a lot of growth lately so I'm happy, seems like we're making progress

      Well if you can handle using the desmos calculator for all of it, then I wouldn't bother spending a lot of time by hand. There's no restriction to using the calculator, the whole math portion lets you use it whenever you want. Sometimes it may not be the fastest way to solve a problem, but for graphing situations I'd use whatever's working best for you in your practice.

    So while registering, I chose the option which said I'll bring an iPad on test day since I don't have a laptop. But I've realized that an iPad is not very practical, hence I've decided I'll probably borrow someone's laptop. Is it okay if I bring the laptop on test day despite telling them on registration that I'll be using an iPad?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think that'll be an issue, though to be honest I don't have any solid evidence for or against it. Generally I think they ask you what device you plan on bringing just to make sure you acknowledge that you have a device that actually can run Bluebook. So it's more of a legal thing than an actual restriction.
      I can tell you that the schools I've worked with on DSAT day have not checked students' devices when they come in, but not every place does things in the exact same way

      There's no guarantee that you'll have a place to charge. Some test centers have put plugs for everyone but some have not, it's not a strict requirement. If your battery dies, you'd have to charge it up and resume where you left off.

    About the admission ticket thing: i set up my exam and had access to it. However, when i click on the option to email it to myself, it doesn't send it to me. i tried it on different emails many times, checking my spam folder and all. Is it acceptable to take a picture of the admission ticket with my phone camera and show it to them on test day? thanks!

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd! I think that might be a good idea, to just take a screenshot of the ticket then and keep that on your phone. If you can print it out, that would probably be best just to be safe. Perhaps try again in the next couple of days, I wouldn't be surprised if their system is overloaded right now as many people are trying to do the same thing.

      Yeah any scientific calculator would also be allowed. The only ones they really have issues with are ones that allow you to program a bunch of macros or save text files in since you could supposedly have formulas saved or whatever, but even that seems to be less of an issue now that DESMOS has formulas they show you in the bluebook app.

    Greetings,
    I need assistance regarding the matter of chosen Device for SAT (test day). So here's a thing, when registering for SAT, I chose Mac as my device for Test Day. Recently, College Board sent me an email mentioning the device's requirements for the test. My OS : Catalina, wasn't compatible, so I additionally installed windows 10 in it (as Operating System). Blue book is working fine on it, but the only thing that's bothering me is that, will there be any issue on the test day ? ( As my chosen device is Mac, but my operating System is Windows 10.)

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That shouldn't be a problem as the most important thing is that you can log into Bluebook. They don't usually force you to use whatever device you said during registration, but rather they're trying to let you know what works and what doesn't. If Bluebook is fine, you should be good.

      When you register for the test you have to tell them what you want. They can give you a device or you can bring your own. I recommend bringing your own. Also, the deadline for registration is one month before if you need a device from the center, but it's only 2 weeks before if you bring your own

    I saw all your classes from your course. It is really helpfull. However, I would like to point out some observations: I miss some key grammar and punctuations points. You teach them of course, but I think It could be more deep in your explanations: more details, more rules, more exercises. I also did not like the division of them. Sometimes you mix the usage of grammar and punctuation and I kind feel a little confused. Althought I believe that those points could improve, I am loving your work and It is helping me a lot. Thanks for all :)

      Thank you so much for the feedback, and I agree a lot with what you have to say. I plan on making the next class even better on those things, really getting more into rules and examples. I'll be honest, as a teacher the first time you do a class is never your best. It used to take me 3-4 runs to really get it where I want. I'll be streaming all the new classes too so hopefully they help you if you continue to prep for May!

    Hi, can u still get into your dream university if your 10th and 9th grade results are 81% and 83% and u are a student applying abroad from Ethiopia? are they considered low ? and will i have any chance of entering on scholarship if I improve my 11th and 12th grade results?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey so that's a great question! It depends a lot on the context of your school. If 81% or 83% are actually really good marks that put you in the top of your class, then you're fine. Your school counselor needs to give context to the grades by adding your class rank or more information in your counselor recommendation letter.
      Also, it's going to depend on the university and the major. If you've got a B or C in math from 10th grade and you want engineering at MIT, that probably isn't going to happen.
