Sorry to be a pain is there a possible chance you will do a vocal tutorial I want to learn so much. How do you choose the colours for where you put them I'm intrigued sorry to keep asking questions xx
I might do some talkovers soon...its a confidence thing. I choose bright colours and use dark and light to replicate tones. Lots of guesswork and practise.

Practice makes perfect! It looks like cooler colors are used for the shadows (dark blues, purple, dark orange) and warmer colors are used for the highlights (yellow, pink, cyan(bright blue))

Many thanks! I will be listing a Website soon and selling my TH-cam paintings on there. Yes I might consider doing portraits in the future but not at the moment.

Thanks! I use acrylic (it dries quickly) when painting on TH-cam but oil paint would be really good too.
This really caught my eyes. I am a newbie in painting and I supposed to start with woodland in oil but after I saw this video 12 times I changed my mind. I want to start smart and I want to start on a bigger canvas. Just a quick question. Do you think this type of painting is as wonderful on a bigger canvas? Thank you for your time.
Many thanks! Painting bigger can be problematic. Maybe start with a smaller painting to work out composition and colours and then scale it up.
Anna, your command over your colors is superb!! I have a question how you do each layer in 10 to 1 and 1 to 10 value levels in a slower motion.If you explain it would be very helpful.

I usually use a very basic set of colours. Lighter colours for highlights and darker for shade. Best to do lots of practice and be patient. Good luck!

While doing abstract portraits do you usually fill out and do the background first and then develop on the actual portrait and features?

No I just paint it as you see in the video. You could try a practice study first and test your colours before you go ahead.

I plan to make something similar to this-- How do I know what colors to pick? I have a very basic idea of color theory and I know I should use colors like blue and purple to contour and contrast the painting. But I fear that trying all sorts of colors together will make it look blotchy and accidental.
The painting is not complicated and no colour theory involved. Mostly guesswork and lighter colours for light areas and the same for darker tones. Give it a go with lots of practice. Good luck!
@@121art I tried it the same evening I wrote that comment. It turned out OK but I think I should've used something other than pastels. I smeared it.

Can you please reply to this question: the paint looks translucent, but it says that you’re using acrylic. Are you watering it down? Otherwise I would think it would be too heavy.??

Thanks. I don't use much water at all and it should last a long time

It is difficult filming an upright portrait as the format on TH-cam is landscape, therefore I tend to paint a cropped face 😬
