I flew to Nth Qld that day with a stopover in Brisbane. Brissie had a storm warning current, and fortunately we flew out before the weather, but on the way north the air was visibly moving under the plane in ripples. I'd never seen anything like it before...and then that hit Brisbane.
It was the noise that was amazing, you couldn't hear anything above the din that the hail was making on the roof. Some of the hail was coming through the roof and even under cover we got pelted with a few small bits, that's why they moved everyone under the concrete section. Probably not the smartest place to be but I couldn't miss the chance to film such a ferocious storm in the middle of Brisbane :)
I was living at annerley, it smashed most of the windows in my house & destroyed our roof. I grabbed my young kids & put them under a desk in the hallway & surrounded them with pillows. We had shattered glass all throughout our house & everything was soaking wet. We had our windows boarded up for months waiting to get the glass replaced.
@@beckbeck5110 i didnt live in brisi at the time but my sister did. Her unit was basically obliterated with glass embedded in the walls of every room and windows basically gone. The only glass that survived was the balcony door and that was on the sheltered aide of the place. Still there was glass embedded in the wall next to that door from the other side of the unit. Thankfully my sister had decided to go shopping that day, unaware of the storm. Something she didnt normally do after work. But for whatever reason she did that day. It took her 5 hours to get a taxi home, and she had yo share even that with a stranger going a similar direction. As all the public transport was down. She got home to a pitch black street, thanks to power being out from the storm. She opened the front door and took her shoes off, she couldnt see the glass in the dark and taking her shoes off was normal for her. She says she heard the crunching sound of the glass as she walked but she didnt put two and two together. She walked around 10m into the house and lit a candle, then looked around to see the glinting of glass everywhere and realised she was walking in a razor trap, barefoot. She somehow got back to the door, and her shoes without a single cut. (Nobody knows how) then her neighbour realised she was home and came to check on her. She stayed with the neighbour for a week. My family and i came yo help with the cleanup (which took days even with all hands on deck to help). It was crazy. If dad hadn’t thought of bringing up plywood from new south wales, we dont know what if we would have done as everywhere was sold out. Took 6 months to get the glass replaced. It was the second worst hailstorm damage I’ve ever seen, second only to the Lismore (and surrounds) storm of 2007. Which had a wider impact area. Worst damage ive seen concentrated though! My sis was also in Annerley at the time
I was thinking the same, like wtf was he doing😂😂 “GUYS ITS THIS WAY, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THE SHELTER IS HERE. I KNOW YOU RAN OVER DIRECTLY HERE FOR SHELTER BUT I’D LIKE TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE SHELTER IS INFACT HERE”
Not living in Oz anymore but I was there! Can't believe it's been 5 years already! Insane traffic, waited ages to catch a bus to Coorparoo. When I got back home I saw hail stones that had gathered in front of our shared house and there was broken glass lying around.
If you own a house, car, trees, plants, windows in the house, your roof - all can get very badly damaged? I know because in 2006 my house and garage suffered almost $7,000 worth of damage.

Brisbane is in the sub-tropics, summer storms are common, especially in the afternoon...but this one was exceptional...it sailed, dark and ominous over where I live (on the Gold Coast about 40 minutes to the south)..and then dumped its fury on Brisbane.
Hey grandpaspec, do you have an email address we can use to contact you regarding this video? I'd love to discuss a license to use this if possible! Cheers, Felix
Can somebody please explain what the man in the white shirt is doing? He is reaching / touching nearly everyone coming into the station, like he it putting a sticker on bags or something?
He is a QR worker and was being gentlemanly by helping them in. It was pretty cute really as they had made it that far with out him but I liked the gesture.
love it wish we could have it like that in England , yes I know the damage it can cause but it's really cool we have hail stones but nothing like that ours are small and don't last more then 2 minits
There was a worst storm than this about 16 years ago where i though we were going to have a tornado ( doesn't happen in Australia) we had trees around us getting struck by lightning, it was a bad, but amazing storm, not one mobile phone around!
That lady walked up, without an umbrella, as if nothing. Did she not see those big balls of hail, falling fast and hard? And, can someone tell me how it was getting so wet, even raining (?) inside that place?
I live somewhere else but The Hail killed all the fish in my fish pond and Froze the life outta my plants.there was so much Hail every where afterwards, it looked like it had snowed.
I would of been very depressed if my beloved 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport, equipped with a V6 3.7, 6 speed manual transmission, would of been assaulted by all this hale and total havoc... Thankfully, I can still afford an indoor garage, at least for now...
Who's here now after yesterday's crazy hail storm?
I own a little red Getz... After that storm I'm going to paint it white, to look like a golf ball ! LOL !!
Biggest hail of my life

God's way of having a snow ball fight😂😂
Why does the guy in the white shirt have the need to touch everyone as they come running in from the storm?
ike mike Because he loves them all?
Station master..it's a railway station..he is just helping them get under cover and making sure they are ok.
Because if he didn't help them through they would never make it pass the invisible force field.
Noticed he clears out all the other spectators after he's finished with his video?
I was thinking the same think. It's not like they're likely to miss the entrance...I figure he is just trying to be helpful and reassuring?
0:21 that umbrella took that big hailstone like a champ!
that was insane
This snowball is a God gift to car company owners

Kelly Merkel I think he's the station master they work at the train station. I say he's helping them get uncovered.
He is a QR worker and was being gentlemanly by helping them in. It was pretty cute really as they had made it that far with out him but I liked the gesture.
