    Hey, Boro, awesome that you made a video with Kodon, been following you for a while, Im a product designer at Kodon, so its extra cool for me. Its a little bit of a shame that you tried the software right before our massive update that will solve the majority of the stability issues that your are experiencing. So hopefully you will look out for that, and have a better and more stable experience
    BTW you can paint, sad you missed that, its the paint brush in the Sculpt room.

      Good to hear there's a stability update coming. I have been trying Kodon since 2016 but never settled on it because of how buggy it is. I hope the VR UI will also be improved, as it's extremely user unfriendly currently.

      I really enjoy the interface by comparison to some of the other players in VR sculpting, but despite having an intel i9 and an RTX 3090 graphics card, I cannot get Kodon to remesh or convert in order switch from volume to sculpt. It is really ashame because I believe in this program and want it to succeed very badly, but I'm concerned that if there isn't enough urgency put behind this software, I will more than likely just use adobe 3d modeler beta, as it is currently more stable in my experience. I am rooting for you guys. Hopefully blender holds off long enough for you to really make a splash.

    i love doing blockouts with SculptrVR on my couch and then continue working in Zbrush or paint on it. Its a cool feeling to work on a Spaceship and then walk around it or into it. its realy helpful to define the overal size of f.ex. a spaceship first and then add staircases or Props in a size which makes sense from your human perspective in VR.

    I like that you are doing 3d and vr software from time to time. spices things up. Could you perhaps do an example of surface vs voxel sculpting, or elaborate more on VR sculpting vs flat screen. Maybe do a series comparing the faults and virtues in your opinion of Gravity sketch, Medium, Kodon, Shapelab, Masterpiece vr, etc.

    15:30 this is very good idea. Controlling 3D space with a VR controller and using mouse or pen to interect with a model can provide very fluid workflow. There are 3D mouses for this purpose but VR Controller can be much intuitive.

    Have over 200h in Kodon now, it's brilliant, yes sculpting is SO much better in VR! Totally natural. Kodon was very buggy for a while, but even with previous issues I was still using for my projects. Full release is just around the corner though, and they've been working hard to increase stability and kill the bugs. Plus they've completely reprogrammed how re-mesh works. Huge thumbs up from me.

    I'm waiting for someone to develop some sort of "force-feedback long-sleeved shirt". The problem I have with "sculpting in VR" (I use, primarily, Adobe Medium or Sketchbox when in VR), is that there is no "feel" to it. Your arms are moving freely through the air, where if you were sculpting on clay, you would have a solid "force" pushing against your arm/tools. So making long, smooth sculpts (like the length ways 'cheekbone' of the dragon, from nose to under eye, to back of head/horn area), the desired "smooth flowing single shape" becomes jagged and wiggly...not smooth at all. Because your arm is moving through the air with no resistance to help "stabilize" your stroke.
    ..
    So give me a shirt that uses some sort of hydraulic pressure-tubes in it that fill up/release as appropriate, thus giving the feeling of actual physical resistance to things in VR.
    ..
    I'm sure someone will do it. Some day. I'd do it if I had a million dollars to seed it with....alas, I'm back in debt and still forcibly retired due to medical reasons. Hey...anyone have Elon's phone number? ;)

    • @emilklingberg1623
      @emilklingberg1623 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The software clearly needs a lot of developing and improvement, but the potential is there. I wonder how a "lazy mouse" (that's what it's called in zbrush) would feel like in order to make/draw soft lines instead of jaggy edges.

    When I got a VR headset, I tried this, gravity sketch, some of the more indie apps, and adobe medium through emulation. I think medium is the strongest VR sculpting app so far, but I think they're all pretty gimmicky and slow compared to just doing it in blender. That's just my opinion though.

    Blender's collections, hierarchies and modifiers allow for vastly more organizational flexibility.
