- City planner Dr Abdulrahman Makhlouf joined the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, in the Sea Palace in 1974, where they designed the main grid and named the streets.
Im a yemeni american who completed a masters in urban planning and they never taught me about planners of North Africa/Middle East. Thanks for sharing this! Im going to read his work!

That’s another great Egyptian architect, Mohammed Kamal Ismail. He designed and implemented the Haram in Mecca & Medina.

Always remember God or Allah created & planned life & Universe on strict rules & nothing random. Abu Dhabi emerged from the marriage of the vision of Shiek Zayed to the Talent of this smart Planer, and the result a real great city seen on ground as a fruit of that vision & talent mutual coopetation. What is build on the right basis & foundations, will produce the right results. May his soul rest in peace in his grave under Allah mercy & blessings. In 2016 world wakeup on the death of one of the greatest Design Architects Zaha Hadeed, and now this great Planner. This is life, Time Moves and people comes & go but their great & good works will make their names alive in the humanity memories. Allah bless n mercy Dr Mahklouf.
