I absolutely fail to see the difference between the ticket and the $100 bill I'd already allotted for a ticket, but more importantly I'd budgeted the note to purchase the ticket, so whether I lose the ticket or the actual money makes no difference to me at all. The only way, at that point, I'd still attend the event would be if the opera reprinted the lost ticket (and I'd be willing to pay a fee up to $5-$10 for that) or if a third party were to present a ticket or its cash value as a no-strings-attached gift.

The point there was people tend to see the 100 Bucks budget they have allocated for theater which they ALREADY spend on the ticket were to be multiplied if they buy another ticket
But if their money in the wallet is the one gone BEFORE they purchased the ticket, essentially people were to think that THEY HAVEN'T SPEND anything for the theater, and that if they were to spend 100 Bucks to it, they feel like the theater only costs them 100 Bucks so far and the money who's gone are considered just SUNK
I have been experienced something similar before, I lost my cash to buy ticket and bought another ticket later bcs i have been on the station, i retrieved money from nearby ATM and in my mind i thought that my traveling budget has only so far costs me 35 bucks, only to realize later that my money for souvenir were has been used to bought my departure ticket and i cannot buy my 27 Bucks sweet keychain that had me on interest from the moment i arrived on the station
