You are one of the best instructors I have ever listened to! After just watching two or three videos I have learned so much . . . Your color theory was spot on . . . for the first time I really get it . . . bigger brush . . . of course . . . bad photos, bad paintings . . . you have a way of driving home what we all have probablya heard before but it didn't sink in. Thanks and I can't wait to see all of your videos.
Scott, Wow, thank you...finally someone who says it how it is, or how it shouldn't be. I have learnt so much in 12 minutes. I can't wait to watch all your videos on techniques.
I've just started working my way through your excellent videos. You offer some truly first class tips and advice, and this tutorial is particularly useful. I'm about to go on to the next part. It is so generous of you to go to the trouble of making these films and sharing your expertise. Very many thanks.
Excellent tips, Scott. I look forward to the series. Just pulled up a painting of mine to view while watching and listening, here. I was missing atmospheric perspective. Looking forward to the series. Love your painting in the background!
Im an interior designer and I've always found it useful to learn from paintings so that I could apply the same rules within the space that I am designing. I find that I learned a lot about colour balance by painting first, weird i know lol Great tips! Thanks so much
great way to look at art in general. Loved what you said about not taking away the individuals own way of creating. Art classes can be very damaging that way when they tell you what and how to do it, so I'm really liking your teaching style. off to check out the next one. Do you ever do watercolour?
A BIG thank you! Very practical. Unfortunately at this point I can't avoid painting from photographs as I can only paint when kids go to bed.... at night. But I am trying to find good photos at least. Whenever I am outside I do look at the nature around me and the clouds specially. Clouds are amazing. I can't paint from memory, that will require practice. I am hoping at some point hopefully in the near future I will be able to paint outside. But not for now :(
I like everything about this painting. It is unique. It is dynamic. It is textural. It is more than a landscape. I like it a lot!!
